Chapter 71 When did you see him?
When Su Meng and the other two walked out of the train station, it was the darkest moment before dawn.
She turned her head to look at the two men standing against the light at the station entrance.
"What should we do now? Go to the guesthouse first?"
Huo Zhenhua pointed in a direction, "Let's go, I remember there's a guesthouse about 20 meters away over there."
Ah Da tightened his oversized coat and shook his head. "No need! Let's leave now. I think we're being watched."
Huo Zhenhua glanced at Ah Da in surprise. He was so perceptive! He didn't seem like someone who had been abused for ten years.
Ignoring Huo Zhenhua's scrutiny, Ah Da pulled Su Meng and darted into a nearby alley, saying, "Stay close."
He seemed very familiar with the place, moving through the darkness without pausing or reaching any dead ends.
Su Meng couldn't help but look at Ah Da, who was leading the way. She calmed herself down and focused all her senses, but she still didn't notice anyone following behind.
He secretly despised himself for being too weak.
Finally, I smelled the familiar sea breeze.
Su Meng then realized that they had been wandering around for more than ten minutes and had actually arrived at the beach.
Ah Da walked easily to a courtyard gate and knocked on the door.
Huo Zhenhua grabbed Su Meng and stood in front of her, his expression solemn and his whole body tense.
He understood Ah Da less and less.
He couldn't understand how someone who had been abused for ten years could have such extraordinary mental strength, able to remember the route from ten years ago with perfect accuracy.
There are also contact points.
After two short knocks and one long knock, a rustling sound came from the courtyard.
Immediately following was the sound of two people knocking on the door, one inside and one outside.
Su Meng was stunned.
Their family are legitimate business people, so why does this sound like a gang's code?
She felt a little flustered and subconsciously moved closer to Huo Zhenhua.
In the darkness, their hands unexpectedly touched.
She moved away slightly without making a sound, but she could still feel the heat emanating from him, which calmed her down a little.
Ah Da was someone she personally rescued.
No one knew she would go to the basement where the treasure was hidden that day, and no one knew that Ah Da was imprisoned there.
Therefore, their meeting was merely a coincidence arranged by fate.
She should trust Ah Da, who never betrayed her father even after being abused for ten years.
The thought had barely formed when the courtyard gate opened.
A disheveled man came out. "Ah Da, what happened to you?"
Ah Da coughed lightly, "Where's your boat? Can I borrow it for a bit?"
Seeing that the man was about to look at Huo Zhenhua and Su Meng, A Da scolded unhappily, "Xiao Wu, what about the rules?"
Xiao Wu chuckled twice, picked up the kerosene lamp, closed the courtyard gate, and walked past them with his head down, leading the way in silence.
Su Meng looked at A-Da in surprise, then at Xiao Wu, who was looking down and obedient, and thought that A-Da must have been a very authoritative boss in the past.
A few steps later, they turned into a small dock hidden by reeds.
"This is my new boat, boss. All my life's work is here."
Xiao Wu reluctantly handed over the key and diligently went to untie the rope tied to the thick wooden stake.
This is a small ferry.
Once the rope was untied, it drifted on the water like a small boat, ready to be carried away by the waves at any moment.
"Boss, I won't see you off. Come back soon!"
Xiao Wu held the kerosene lamp high in one hand and waved it at them with the other.
Ah Da stared at him for a few seconds, then beckoned to him, "Xiao Wu, come here. The patriarch asked me to pass on a message to you."
Upon hearing this, Huo Zhenhua subtly reached for his waist, his gaze fixed between Ah Da and Xiao Wu.
Su Meng's heart skipped a beat in shock, and she couldn't help but look at Ah Da.
What exactly does he mean?
Xiao Wu's smile froze, and he said in a trembling voice, "The patriarch hasn't shown up for years, boss, are you kidding me?"
In the blink of an eye, he suddenly threw the kerosene lamp at Ah Da.
Unexpectedly, the sickly Ah Da vanished in a flash.
Then came Xiao Wu's terrified scream: "Boss, I know I was wrong, please forgive me!"
In the blink of an eye, Xiao Wu was slammed onto the splint.
The kerosene lamp bobbed in the seawater a few times before going out completely.
Ah Da looked at Huo Zhenhua, "Please help take them away and set sail! Cough cough..."
Clearly, that move was his limit.
He was hunched over, clutching his chest and coughing incessantly.
Su Meng quickly handed over a water pouch, "Uncle, drink some water, and take your medicine."
Huo Zhenhua glanced at Ah Da, and out of the corner of his eye saw Xiao Wu trying to get up, so he kicked him.
Su Meng helped A-Da into the cabin behind Huo Zhenhua, and complained in a low voice, "Look at you, you've only been recovering for less than a month, and you're already showing off again."
Uncle, what's wrong with him?
Ah Da was pale and weak, leaning sickly against the chair, but he didn't seem to care at all.
He struggled to sit up, looked at the unconscious Xiao Wu on the ground, and sneered: "If it weren't for someone having ulterior motives, the head of the family and I wouldn't have been ambushed."
Xiao Wu was just someone I was testing, but I never expected him to really turn bad and even try to send a signal to people through a kerosene lamp.
He doesn't even remember the patriarch's life-saving grace; he should have betrayed his master long ago!
Hearing this, Su Meng's heart tightened. "So our trip has been exposed again? He's really despicable!"
While Huo Zhenhua was at the helm, he never let his guard down around Su Meng.
She pulled out a packet of powder and prepared to sprinkle it out.
Ah Da raised his hand to stop him, "Why waste it? This kind of trash should be thrown into the sea to feed the fish."
Seeing Huo Zhenhua looking over, A'da raised an eyebrow. "Commander Huo, you have no objections, do you?"
Huo Zhenhua immediately turned his head to look straight ahead, "This is your family matter."
Traitors are the most intolerable; they must be killed!
Su Meng's mind raced: "Forget it! Let it go to waste. I still want to get him to talk."
It would be even better if pulling out the radish brought out the mud along with it.
Unable to bear the pain, Xiao Wu soon confessed to an important person.
"Is it really Shen Wuyang? When have you ever met Shen Wuyang?"
Startled, Su Meng jumped up from her chair and strode over to him.
Xiao Wu huddled together, her lips trembling. "Miss, just give me a quick death. I was really forced into this by Shen Wuyang. I'll tell you whatever you want to know."
Su Meng flicked a pill with her finger, and Xiao Wu's pain lessened somewhat.
He looked at Su Meng in fear. "Shen Wuyang is extremely similar to the patriarch. At first, I was confused by him, and later I was coerced."
I... I didn't want to either.
He came to see me about two weeks ago, also needing a boat to cross the sea.
Ah Da's eyes widened in shock, and he leaned forward. "Half a month ago? Which island did he go to?"
"Penglai Island".
Upon hearing this, Ah Da slammed into the back of his chair with a thud, his spirits drooping and his figure shrinking considerably. He muttered to himself, "How could this be? Oh no, Master, Master..."
Before he could finish speaking, he started coughing, gasping for breath.
Su Meng shuddered, her whole body turned ice-cold, and her mind went blank for a moment.
So, it seems my father is in grave danger.
Hearing Ah Da cough, she tried to stay calm, tears streaming down her face as she frantically fed him water, medicine, and gave him injections, finally bringing him back to his senses.
"Uncle, just get some sleep. I'll wake you up when we get there!"
Regardless of Ah Da's wishes, she put him to sleep with a single injection.
Xiao Wu was writhing on the ground in pain, and when he saw Su Meng's actions, he trembled three times.
She even dared to stab Ah Da, how terrifying!
Seeing Su Meng looking over, Xiao Wu curled up into a ball, not daring to make a sound even though he was in so much pain that his teeth were chattering.
Finally, he succumbed to Su Meng's death stare and knelt down, pleading, "Miss, I've told you everything I know, please forgive me."
Su Meng moved her wrist; there was no way to get around it.
But I wanted to dig out more information. "Do you know what Shen Wuyang went to the island for?"
