Cao Hanhui whispered something in Ji Nianqin's ear, but she held her hands and pinched her face.
"What kind of bad idea is this? I won't give it to you."
Ji Nianqin put the lipstick box back into her pocket and walked away with a swagger.
"Nianqin, you should stand and sit properly. That's how my brother taught us."
"Your brother is not here at the moment."
“Woof woof woof!”
A little pug barked at Ji Nianqin for a while, but after being picked up by her, it became less arrogant.
"Nianqin, put it down quickly. This is a dog from a high-ranking official's family. It's worth much more than the two of us."
"Valuable? Humph! I don't believe it."
The little pug wagged its tail and moaned for mercy, and its limbs and head turned into the color of a giant panda.
"Nianqin, how did it become like this?"
"I used Daifen. He was a dog, and I turned him into a bear. Of course he should thank me. You're welcome."
Ji Nianqin made faces at Cao Hanhui, shaking her head and tail, looking very annoying.
"You are so bold, sooner or later there will be a big mess."
"Eh? Don't curse me, or I'll draw you something just like it."
"It's too ugly. If you don't know it, you might think it's a wild beast. Nianqin, I'd like you to draw it for me, but to look like you, is that okay?"
Ji Nianqin straightened her shoulders like a monkey, chuckled a few times, opened the dressing box wrapped around her waist, used a broken small brush, dipped it in rouge and powder, and began to paint on Cao Hanhui's face.
"As early as the Warring States Period, girls knew how to paint their eyebrows dark. During the Han Dynasty, the "distant mountain brow" style was popular, meaning eyebrows were painted long and curved, like beautiful distant mountains. The popular eyebrow shape during the heyday of the Tang Dynasty was a bit awkward, with beauties painting their eyebrows broad and short, resembling laurel leaves or moth wings."
"Nianqin, you're quite cute when you're not acting up. You've made me a little sleepy. Talk a little more, but don't do anything else."
"As beauties of the Tang Dynasty lived at the height of civilization, their aesthetics were truly exceptional. Realizing that broad eyebrows might appear rigid, they began drawing them by evenly smudged the color from the edges outward, a technique known as 'dizzy eyebrows,' which still looks very sophisticated today. Furthermore, the Tang Dynasty also favored drawing eyebrows very thin, known as 'thin eyebrows,' which appear very charming."
“Huff~”
Cao Hanhui leaned on Ji Nianqin's shoulder and actually fell asleep. When she woke up, Ji Nianqin was still talking about the knowledge of insertion.
"Nianqin, I've always wanted to ask you, why do you know more than me even though we both have the same teacher?"
"Don't you always say that a woman's virtue lies in her lack of talent? She only wants to enter the palace and become the emperor's concubine. It's a miracle that she can learn anything."
"You little girl, don't think I don't know. My brother is partial to you. He often keeps you here and avoids me. It turns out he taught you other knowledge."
"It's done! Take a look."
Ji Nianqin suppressed her laughter and held the Xiyan mirror
Hand it to Cao Hanhui.
"Oh my god, Nianqin, how come you have a mirror? It's only found in the imperial palace and in the homes of a very few high-ranking officials."
Cao Hanhui didn't bother to appreciate her makeup, but fiddled with the mirror in her hand.
"You mean the bronze mirror? That one is thin and delicate, but this one of mine is just as good. It's novel and unique. Your brother gave it to me."
"My brother, my brother, he's my brother again. I have to clean up his sister's unkempt hair and face in the water every day, but he gave you this. I'll go back and settle the score with him."
"Shh, someone's here looking for the dog."
“Lulu, Lulu!”
