The relaxation area was by the pool, where a few people were sitting because of their arrival.
Everyone stood up spontaneously, except for a few older business associates.
The other two are Jingmin's roommates who studied abroad: Rongyu and Zhuoqun.
Chu Wuyang greeted them one by one.
"I often see President Jing either with an assistant or alone when he goes out for business. Today I finally get to meet Mrs. Jing. She is truly beautiful and elegant. No wonder President Jing is reluctant to bring her out."
An older CEO. He laughed heartily, either flattering or sincerely saying...
Jing Min, still with his arm around Chu Wuyang's waist, said with a smile:
"Mr. Li is joking. She still has her studies to finish in the United States and only returned yesterday, so she rarely appears."
In this situation, Chu Wuyang relied on him quite a bit, and looked at him generously with a smile.
Jingmin wore a well-tailored navy blue suit, his posture upright.
He looked handsome and refined, and his every move exuded charm.
Chu Wuyang could see it in the eyes of the female companions brought by his business associates; their admiration and affection were impossible to conceal.
From the moment she appeared, a clear hostility flashed in his eyes. Indeed, this man was quite the troublemaker.
Jing Min put his arm around Chu Wuyang and they sat down. Almost everyone present was involved in business and finance, and they were all talking about professional jargon.
Chu Wuyang studied art.
The saying "a trade is like a mountain" is not without reason.
Chu Wuyang was clearly somewhat reserved and resistant to this kind of social interaction, but she didn't show it too much, listening quietly from the side.
Jingmin turned to look at the person next to him and said
"Shall we have someone get you some food?"
Chu Wuyang nodded, and soon someone brought out drinks and food. She was really hungry, so she didn't hesitate.
Jing Min drank his wine, sometimes chatting and smiling with people, and sometimes putting some of Chu Wuyang's favorite food on her plate.
A moment later, Jing Min's phone rang, and he touched Chu Wuyang's hair.
The latter gently dodged, and he chuckled lightly, unperturbed.
"Sit down for a bit? I'm going to take this call."
Chu Wuyang watched the man beside her stand up and leave. His figure was tall and elegant, exuding mature charm. He was treated as an honored guest at such a high-society gathering.
Having secluded himself for the past two years, rarely appearing in public, he even felt like running away from such an occasion. In contrast, Jing Min was full of vigor and confidence.
She felt she was indeed feeling down; even in a glamorous gown, she couldn't hide her spiritual emptiness. It seemed the gap between them was widening.
At least on the surface,
The night breeze carried a slight chill, and even amidst the somewhat noisy conversations, the rustling of leaves as they were blown by the wind could be heard.
Chu Wuyang took a sip of red wine, then looked up and saw a man wearing glasses across from her.
The somewhat refined-looking man was scrutinizing her closely, his gaze making her feel uneasy.
Jingmin just introduced Rongyu, his college roommate when he was studying for his master's degree abroad.
Meeting his gaze, Chu Wuyang nodded and smiled politely, and the other man laughed back in a thick Taiwanese accent.
"Miss Chu, if I may ask, which 'Yang' is in your name?"
Chu Wuyang found it a bit strange. Although the Chu family and Jing Min protected her and no photos of her had been released, the outside world still knew her name.
Rongyu's question seemed to be seeking confirmation.
"It is the yang of the sun."
The other person muttered to themselves.
"As expected."
Chu Wuyang didn't hear clearly and didn't ask any further questions out of curiosity.
Instead, Rong Yu asked another question:
"Has Miss Chu changed her name since she was a child?"
Chu Wuyang found it increasingly strange, but still patiently answered.
No.
Rong Yu smiled and adjusted the frames of her glasses.
"Miss Chu, please don't mind me, I've been a little too talkative. Would you mind sharing your love story? Jing Min kept it a secret; by the time we, his brothers, found out, you were already married."
Chu Wuyang said sincerely, "There was no courtship process; our marriage was arranged by our families."
"Really? Look how much Jingmin cares about Miss Chu! If his eyes could kill, I would have died countless times over."
Rong Yu smiled, raised her hand, and pointed in a certain direction to Chu Wuyang.
Jing Min, who was on the phone not far away, held his phone with a serious expression, but his eyes were always fixed on Chu Wuyang.
"What were you talking about just now?"
After returning from the phone call, Jing Min sat down next to Chu Wuyang and asked, looking down at her.
Rong Yu replied, "I was just asking about your dating process! Wasn't it because you kept it a secret so well, never bringing anyone out to meet you, not revealing a single word, catching everyone off guard?"
Who was caught off guard?
Jing Min looked at Chu Wuyang with great interest.
"What did you say?"
Looking at the faint smile on his lips,
Chu Wuyang had a wicked thought, but seeing that someone was not happy, she spoke in a lukewarm tone.
"To be honest, there was no love involved; it was just an arranged marriage."
Jing Min's expression darkened, and he spoke softly to Rong Yu, his voice unreadable.
"She was a little drunk and was just joking with you. We've known each other for a long time... I can't go into the details."
Rong Yu smiled faintly and changed the subject.
Chu Wuyang didn't get the embarrassment she hoped for from Jing Min's face, and for a moment she felt quite bored.
I need to use the restroom.
Chu Wuyang stood up, nodded to the people around him, and said something, but before he could even leave,
Jingmin then stood up.
I'll stay with you.
Seeing this, Rong Yu half-jokingly said:
"Miss Chu, it seems Ah Min has quite a strong grip on you usually; he even follows you when he's away for a short while."
Chu Wuyang appeared to agree, her eyes crinkling as she looked at Jing Min, but a closer look revealed nothing but mockery in them...
Whether Rong Yu saw it or not, Jing Min didn't know, but he saw it clearly: rejection, escape, rejection, mockery...
He glanced at Rong Yu with a warning look, and the latter wisely shut up.
It seems the rumors weren't entirely unfounded; they were indeed at odds.
In the cool light, Jing Min frowned as he looked at her exposed skin, which was even whiter than the moonlight.
She quickly took off her suit jacket and draped it over him, completely concealing the suggestive hints of their intimacy.
Only then did his brow relax as he gave his instructions.
"It's getting windy, don't catch a cold."
"Don't go too far. Call me if you need anything. I'll be right here."
Chu Wuyang didn't respond after hearing this, and turned to leave without looking back.
The soft moonlight shone down, and the flowing white fishtail skirt billowed, creating a fleeting streak of light.
The man's gaze remained fixed on the woman's departing figure until her white silhouette completely disappeared into the deep night, vanishing from sight.
What a heartless woman.
Just as ruthless as she had been years ago, she resolutely told him to get lost and threw herself into the arms of another man without a second thought.
Even now, the memory still hurts so much it feels like I've forgotten how to breathe.
