The process of scanning all the products into the order was incredibly long; this one task alone took nearly two hours.
This was the result of several staff members working together.
The bill printout looked like a long, winding snake, dragging on the ground.
Chu Wuyang stood to the side, his eyes slightly narrowed, a satisfied smile appearing on his lips.
She turned to look at Yun Yang beside her, only to see that Yun Yang's face was as black as the bottom of a pot.
But she couldn't be too obvious in front of these "greedy" people.
Some of those who received the gifts were moved to tears, like farmers who had just received rain after a long drought.
They kept showering Yunyang with compliments, thanks, and auspicious blessings, the words flowing from their mouths as if they were free.
Amidst the praise, Yun Yang maintained a smile on her face.
But a subtle hint of sarcasm was hidden in the slight upturn of the corners of his mouth.
Finally, when the bill was printed, the amount on it was simply astonishing.
A string of numbers almost as long as a phone number, dazzling to the eye.
When Yunyang saw the number, her eyes widened instantly, and she was completely stunned, almost losing her composure.
However, she probably considered that there were still a lot of people around her who regarded her as their benefactor.
So he composed himself slightly, forcing a calm demeanor, and said:
"It's okay, I'll pay."
Upon hearing this, it was as if the fuse of emotion had been lit again, and their eyes began to redden, as if they were about to cry from emotion at any moment.
Ye Yuhe, unable to hold back any longer, frowned and spoke up:
"Stop it, that's enough!"
Hearing Ye Yuhe's words, those people looked at her with some dissatisfaction, as if they wanted to argue about something.
At this moment, Chu Wuyang raised an eyebrow and said slowly:
"What, Miss Yun, you can't afford it?"
Yun Yang, who had been somewhat hesitant, suddenly became resolute after hearing those words.
She gritted her teeth, took out a black card from her bag, and the card looked very high-end.
It gleamed with a mysterious luster under the light.
As if she were sacrificing her last shred of dignity, she handed the card directly to Manager Fang, saying in a somewhat stiff tone:
"Swipe!"
Store Manager Fang nervously accepted the black card from Yun Yang and carefully swiped it on the card reader.
Her expression froze for a moment, her brows furrowed slightly, and a hint of doubt flashed in her eyes.
She tried swiping the card again, but the card reader still gave the disappointing message.
Fine beads of sweat began to appear on Manager Fang's forehead. She bit her lip and brushed her teeth several times.
Each time, I carried a sliver of hope, but the result remained unchanged.
Store Manager Fang took a deep breath before slowly raising his head to look at Yun Yang. His eyes darted away, and he said softly:
"Miss Yun, do you... have any other cards?"
Yun Yang's expression changed instantly; her eyes widened, and her voice involuntarily rose:
"What? What's wrong with this card? Can't it be used?"
Store Manager Fang nervously swallowed and explained:
"Yes, I swiped it several times, but the system shows that the card is already deactivated. Miss Yun, do you have any other cards?"
Yun Yang reacted extremely strongly, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. She shook her head violently and retorted:
"Impossible! I used it yesterday, you didn't know about this card..."
Her tone was very certain, and her eyes revealed an undeniable confidence.
But halfway through her sentence, she subconsciously glanced at Chu Wuyang and Ye Yuhe, who were still watching the show from the sidelines.
Some of the words that followed were like a fishbone stuck in my throat, forced back down.
Store Manager Fang was so frightened by Yun Yang's shout that he dared not utter a sound.
She lowered her head, her hands trembling slightly, and tried swiping the card again.
Then he shook his head helplessly at Yun Yang, the meaning couldn't be clearer—it still wouldn't work.
A flicker of anxiety crossed Yun Yang's face, and her lips trembled slightly.
Her eyes began to glaze over with panic. She said:
"Wait a minute, let me make a call. There might be some mistake somewhere."
Store Manager Fang then chimed in:
"Yes, yes, it might be a system problem or something went wrong. You should ask them right away."
Yun Yang, holding the phone, walked to the side with somewhat flustered steps, turned her back to everyone, and began to make a call.
Chu Wuyang kept his eyes glued to her changing expressions, like a cheetah eyeing its prey.
It was obvious that Yunyang's first call was immediately hung up on.
Her body stiffened slightly.
But she didn't give up and kept dialing, but the situation still didn't seem very optimistic.
Anxiety gradually appeared on her face, and her fingers turned white from the force she exerted.
Finally, her second call went through, perhaps because she was too anxious.
Her voice unconsciously grew louder, drifting intermittently from not far away.
All I heard were words like "help," "ask clearly," and "heartless." Although they were not very coherent, I could roughly guess the anger and pleading in her words.
The call was very short, and it ended a moment later.
However, almost immediately, her phone rang again, and Yun Yang answered it quickly as if she had grasped at the last straw.
Chu Wuyang clearly saw that, in the instant Yun Yang turned her head to the side, there seemed to be a glistening tear in the corner of her eye.
Her lips trembled slightly, and then some broken sounds drifted over.
