Chapter 157 Staying Overnight and Not Returning

"How about that? Scared, aren't you!"

Chu Wuyang's body stiffened slightly, but she didn't struggle. Her eyes were somewhat vacant, and her lips moved slightly.

"If you're leaving in the future, you must tell me clearly..."

His tone revealed utter exhaustion.

Jing Min paused slightly, loosened his grip, and pulled her away from his embrace a little.

His brow furrowed slightly as a large, warm hand touched her forehead. His eyes were filled with inquiry and doubt. After confirming her temperature was normal...

He gently pulled the person back into his arms, his face full of guilt, his voice low and somber:

"I'm so sorry, it was an emergency. You know my phone got broken, right?"

After saying that, he paused, then quickly agreed, going along with her suggestion:

"I promise you, I will tell you where I'm going from now on, and I won't suddenly disappear again."

A self-deprecating smile appeared on Chu Wuyang's lips as she glanced to the side.

He thought to himself: A man's promises are found where his heart is.

At the hotel, he swore he wouldn't leave her alone, but in the blink of an eye, he vanished without a word.

Chu Wuyang's eyes were vacant, her lips moved mechanically, and she asked softly:

"Is your leg alright?"

Jing Min's lips curled into a slight smile as he teased:

"You only realize you care about me now!"

"It's mostly fine now, but Yunyang is a bit of a problem."

"The doctor said you need time to recover from the infection. As for your horseback riding, if you still want to practice, I can hire another instructor for you."

"She'll probably need to rest for half a month to recover from that injury."

As he spoke, he waved his hand dismissively.

"But it's nothing serious."

After saying that, Jing Min stood up nimbly and poured Chu Wuyang a glass of water.

He turned and handed the water to Chu Wuyang, only to find her staring intently at him with a hint of inquiry in her eyes.

Jing Min's tone softened unconsciously, carrying a hint of ingratiation:

"What, are you still angry?"

Chu Wuyang reached out and took the water glass, casually replying:

"No."

Then he turned his back, slowly walked to the windowsill, and looked down at the building.

Just moments ago the sun was shining brightly, but now dark clouds have covered it.

Chu Wuyang had no idea what had happened between the two of them in just two days.

Judging from Jing Min's reaction, even he himself didn't realize that his words were full of concern for Yun Yang.

It's unclear whether the two developed feelings for each other and reminisced about the past, or whether it was gratitude for saving someone's life.

It seems I can only try to find another opportunity to sound out Yunyang.

As evening approached, and given that neither of them was seriously injured, they decided to return the next day.

At night, Chu Wuyang lay on the small cot in Jingmin's hospital room.

In a daze, it felt as if my body was floating.

She suddenly opened her eyes, and a familiar, handsome face loomed before her.

Jingmin picked her up and carried her to his bed.

Meeting Chu Wuyang's wide eyes, Jing Min said somewhat apologetically:

"Did I wake you up?"

Jing Min tilted his head slightly, his eyes filled with a hint of doting, and explained softly:

"It's comfortable sleeping here."

Chu Wuyang's eyes still held a hint of confusion as she subconsciously looked down at the single bed beneath her.

Jing Min seemed to see through her thoughts and quickly answered:

"Go to sleep! I'll stay with you. I slept too much during the day, so I can't sleep at night."

"It's still early, only four in the morning, you should get some more sleep."

Chu Wuyang pursed her lips slightly, wanting to decline.

Thinking that he was a patient after all, it was really inappropriate for me to occupy the hospital bed,

Although the small bed was indeed uncomfortable, I wasn't that delicate and couldn't possibly get through the night.

Jing Min reached out and firmly pressed down on her shoulder, a familiar domineering glint flashing in his eyes, signaling her to lie down.

Chu Wuyang felt a surge of displeasure; she hated his unquestionable demeanor the most.

Deep down, I stubbornly wanted to continue this stalemate.

Just then, there was a soft knock on the door, the cautious, tentative rhythm particularly clear in the quiet night.

The two fell silent instantly upon hearing the noise.

Jing Min frowned slightly, his eyes showing wariness, and cautiously asked:

Who is it?

The person outside responded quickly:

"President Jing, it's me, A Long!"

It was the bodyguard's voice.

Jing Min raised his voice and asked:

"What's up?"

Ah Long hesitated for a moment outside the door, then said tactfully:

"Well, it seems there's a bit of trouble with Miss Yun!"

Upon hearing this, the air in the room seemed to freeze, and the two of them inexplicably fell into a deep silence.

Jing Min turned his head to look at Chu Wuyang, his tone asking for her opinion:

"Why don't you sleep a little longer? I'll go check on you."

But as he spoke, his eyes didn't look directly at Chu Wuyang; instead, he stared intently at the door after he finished speaking.

Chu Wuyang's expression was indifferent as he casually said:

"Let's go take a look!"

Jing Min frowned slightly, then abruptly turned his head and gave Chu Wuyang a deep look.

He then strode towards the door.

His hand had just touched the doorknob when he suddenly stopped, as if he were held back by something.

Immediately afterwards, he turned around quickly, walked briskly back to the bedside, and bent down.

He gently placed a light kiss on Chu Wuyang's forehead and said tenderly:

"Sleep a little longer, I'll be right back!"

Chu Wuyang slowly woke up and slept straight until dawn.

She couldn't help but think to herself, Jingmin truly never lowers his standards of living, no matter where he goes.

Even in this rather rudimentary small-town hospital, the best beds were chosen.
