Chapter 173 Liberation

"Are you alright?"

Chu Wuyang suddenly raised her head.

What came into view was a pair of eyes as clear as autumn water, filled with anxiety.

She recognized her; this was Rong Fu, Zhou Chen's girlfriend.

Are you alright?

Rong Fu's voice was soft and tinged with a hint of caution.

She reached out and gently supported Chu Wuyang, her eyes filled with concern and worry, and asked again uncertainly.

Chu Wuyang composed herself, trying her best to appear calm and collected.

"Thank you, I'm fine."

Her gaze passed over Rong Fu and landed on the wide-open door, her voice carrying a hint of wariness and accusation:

How did you end up here?

"Zhou Chen brought you here?"

As she spoke, she glanced warily around.

He slowly moved his body toward the stairwell, trying to block something with his own.

Rong Fu looked completely bewildered and confused.

He quickly waved his hand and explained:

No, he didn't come.

She bit her lip slightly, her eyes flickering.

"I... accidentally got lost, and seeing that there was no one guarding the door, I wandered in by mistake."

After speaking, she cautiously glanced at the stairwell behind Chu Wuyang and tentatively asked:

"Mrs. Jing, have you been here the whole time?"

As soon as she spoke, as if realizing her rudeness, she quickly added:

"no……"

"I mean, did you see any other people or notice any figures passing by just now?"

As she spoke, her gaze quickly swept over Chu Wuyang from head to toe.

Seeing that Chu Wuyang's body was unharmed, he finally let out a soft, almost hurried sigh of relief.

Chu Wuyang looked at her sharply, his voice carrying a hint of displeasure:

"What do you mean?"

In Chu Wuyang's view, Rong Fu's behavior at this moment was completely different from how she acted in front of Zhou Chen.

Her audacity and rudeness made Chu Wuyang feel intensely uncomfortable.

Rong Fu also clearly sensed Chu Wuyang's rejection and hostility towards her.

Her lips pursed slightly, a hint of hesitation flashing across her face. She had intended to turn and leave immediately.

But in the end, she lowered her head slightly and said softly:

"I'm sorry, Mrs. Jing, I lied just now. I didn't wander in by mistake."

"Yes, I was trying to take a picture with Miss Yun, but she left in a hurry, so I followed her here,"

"But in just a moment, she disappeared."

"So...did you see Miss Yun just now?"

Chu Wuyang listened quietly as she finished speaking, initially suspecting she had some ulterior motive.

But looking into her eyes, there seemed to be no malice in them, and the concern she showed just now didn't seem fake.

As a result, the defensiveness in her eyes gradually relaxed, and she said in a calm voice:

"No, I've been here the whole time. I haven't seen anyone, nor have I seen any Miss Yun."

Her eyelashes drooped slightly, avoiding eye contact with Rong Fu.

"But……"

Rong Fu wanted to say something more, but was interrupted by Chu Wuyang's cold gaze.

Chu Wuyang's face seemed shrouded in frost, and he said in a stiff voice:

Do you know the way back to the banquet area?

"Should I arrange for someone to take you home?"

The cold tone was as if they were telling the customer to leave.

Rong Fu felt uncomfortable from this sudden and abrupt dismissal, and quickly said:

"No need, no need, I know the way."

A hint of grievance and helplessness flashed in her eyes.

"Mrs. Jing, I'll be going now."

Chu Wuyang nodded expressionlessly.

Rong Fu looked like she wanted to say something but hesitated, and finally turned around and slowly left.

Until Rong Fu's figure completely disappeared at the gate.

Chu Wuyang's originally straight shoulders suddenly slumped, as if all her strength had been drained away at that moment.

Her earlier toughness and coldness were just a facade.

She hurriedly chased Rong Fu away, fearing that she would discover the unsavory things happening upstairs.

Ironically, her husband upstairs was having an affair, while she, the wife, was keeping watch for them downstairs.

Her gaze slowly shifted to the stairwell, her eyes vacant and lost.

I don't know if it's because the soundproofing is too good, or if they've already stopped.

The surroundings were eerily quiet.

The silence made the howling wind outside sound exceptionally clear, as if it were mocking something.

She hugged herself tightly, as if that would give her some warmth and comfort.

With a calm expression, he slowly walked out of the house.

In the courtyard, the landscape lights emitted a dim yellow light, but they could not illuminate the deep darkness.

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew by, rustling the leaves.

The wind blew across her face, making it feel slightly cool and damp.

Looking up at the sky, she murmured to herself:

"It looks like it's going to rain!"

Who knows, a divorce decree might be on the table first thing tomorrow morning.

I was about to be free, but for some reason...

At this moment, she felt that the invisible shackles on her body had become even heavier, so heavy that she could hardly breathe.

I don't know exactly how much time passed, maybe just a moment.

Footsteps came from behind, so faint as to be almost imperceptible, yet carrying a hint of unsteadiness and disorder.

Chu Wuyang's body stiffened abruptly, and she slowly turned around, her eyes still showing lingering confusion.

She parted her lips slightly and uttered a few words in a daze:

"So fast?"

Yun Yang walked gracefully over, gently brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear to reveal a striking red mark on her neck.
