Chapter 19 Dinner

Inside the meeting room, Jing Min stared down at his phone; two messages, neither of which he replied to.

Just then, Yan Zhou's phone rang while he was checking documents.

He took it out and looked at it; it was a call from Lisa.

He had just told Lisa to take good care of the president's wife; could this call be bad news?

His brow furrowed slightly, hesitating about how to begin.

"Yan Zhou"

The man's clear, cold voice instantly brought Yan Zhou back to his senses, and he looked up to meet Jing Min's gloomy gaze.

"Go outside to answer the phone."

The call had ended, and the following message explained the situation.

Chu Wuyang had just left on his own.

Seeing Yan hesitate,

Jing Min's handsome eyebrows furrowed slightly, and he asked with displeasure, "What's wrong?"

Yan Zhou explained the message in a low voice.

Jing Min's dark eyes deepened. He took out his phone again and checked it; he still hadn't received a reply to his two messages.

His expression also began to show signs of anxiety.

Go out and take a look.

It seems to be just to confirm whether they really left.

Yan Zhou glanced at the somber atmosphere, then stood up and left, leaving everyone puzzled.

But no one dared to say anything.

These are our clients, and as the host, we shouldn't treat them so poorly.

However, President Jing exuded an imposing aura, and given the numerous people eager to cooperate with Boyifang, it was clear he wasn't afraid of offending anyone.

Everyone present had heard of him in the business world; his methods were not simple, even terrifying.

After a while, Yan Zhou returned. He quickly went to Jing Min's side and reported in a low voice.

"We checked the security camera footage at the main gate. The lady left the company and got into a black Maybach. The owner is Yang Jinchu."

Jing Min's eyes were cold, and he remained silent for a while.

"Um."

The back seat was a cramped, enclosed space.

Autumn has arrived, and the weather in Haicheng is unpredictable and muggy. Just a moment ago, the sun was shining brightly...

The wind started to pick up, and in the blink of an eye, it started to rain. A soft rustling sound of wind and rain filled the air.

The driver lowered the barrier and closed the windows, and suddenly it became quiet.

They grew up together and even promised to marry each other. Now, she is married and he is still single, living like strangers. To outsiders, who wouldn't sigh with regret?

Ultimately, the childhood sweetheart couldn't compete with the unexpected arrival; for a moment, his emotions seemed to have nowhere to go.

Yang Jinchu spoke first, his cool yet stiff voice piercing the deathly silence.

When are you going back to New York?

Chu Wuyang glanced at the person beside her. They had clearly met in New York a few days ago, and again this morning.

Surprisingly, she didn't notice that he seemed to have lost a lot of weight; his jawline appeared sharp and hard, his eyebrows and eyes were thin and cold, his lips were pale, and his complexion looked somewhat sickly.

He used to be as humble and warm as Wen Li, but now he truly exudes an aura of coldness.

She did not answer his question.

Are you sick? Have you been to the hospital? Do you need to buy some medicine?

It was quite hot and humid just now, and the car's air conditioning was set quite low.

She was trying to stay cool and turned up the air conditioning without thinking.

He then picked up the blanket from inside the car and handed it to him.

"No"

He coldly refused, his face showing no appreciation, but as soon as he finished speaking, he frowned and coughed softly.

"What were you doing just now? What happened to be at the company entrance?"

Will it hold him back?

Yang Jinchu chuckled and gave her a cool glance.

"Don't flatter yourself. My friends abroad live nearby, so I'm just giving them a ride."

"What's wrong? Is President Jing so busy with work that he's neglecting to take care of you?"

Chu Wuyang didn't react much after hearing this. She tried to explain, but felt exhausted as soon as she opened her mouth.

Are all of them sick?

He simply relaxed and slowly leaned back in his chair, squinting slightly, tilting his head, and speaking softly.

"So you feel relieved now?"

"I really hate it," but it didn't feel satisfying.

He had just finished speaking with a cold face when he frowned and coughed softly.

Chu Wuyang opened her eyes, and the worry in them was obvious.

Their eyes met. It was getting dark, and they couldn't read each other's expressions. For a moment, the surroundings fell silent again.

"Should we go to the hospital?"

I said I don't need it.

He repeated himself without any appreciation, his voice slightly hoarse as he spoke again.

"It's almost dinner time. Come home with me for dinner. My parents are back. It's only right to visit elders. They've taken care of you all these years. I haven't taught you to be ungrateful, have I?"

Unable to utter a word of refusal, Chu Wuyang turned her head and asked:

"Why did you all suddenly come back together?"

Yang Jin looked at her with a puzzled expression, as if she didn't understand, before finally speaking in a cool voice.

"Your mother's death anniversary is approaching, and since we missed your grandmother's death anniversary, my parents came back together."

Upon hearing this, Chu Wuyang pursed her lips, lowered her head, and a hint of pain flashed in her eyes.

The two remained silent afterward, but the person beside them kept their hand over their mouth, and with each soft cough, their body trembled slightly. The space was only so big.

Even though Chu Wuyang didn't look at him, he couldn't ignore the feeling of irritation he felt.

"parking"

As soon as the car came to a stop, before Yang Jinchu could speak, a white figure quickly opened the car door, passed through the rain, and reached the pharmacy across the street.

In no time, the medicine was bought and placed in Yang Jinchu's hand, the speaker saying softly:

"Take good care of yourself"

Yang Jinchu's gaze lingered on her for a moment, then he said with a complicated expression, "Don't worry about others."

The car drove through bustling streets and arrived at a cozy-looking little villa in the suburbs.

The Yang family immigrated to Australia long ago, and this is where they stay when they return to visit relatives and friends.

Chu Wuyang had never been here before, but she could see a tall white camellia tree in the yard from afar while in the car.

It's currently camellia blooming season, and the trees are covered in white camellia blossoms, creating a dreamlike scene nourished by the rain.

It was drizzling lightly at this moment, and the car hadn't even come to a complete stop yet.

The courtyard gate was pushed open, and a small figure rushed out, apparently having come immediately upon hearing the car.

The woman had a beautiful face, shoulder-length straight hair, and a light blue cheongsam that hugged her curvaceous figure. A light drizzle fell.

Standing with an umbrella, what a beautiful woman from Jiangnan!

"Jin Chu, you're back!"

The woman's gentle voice was filled with joy as she spoke.

After the car came to a complete stop, Yang Jinchu got out first, and the woman happily went to greet him. However, when she saw Chu Wuyang behind him, her gaze clearly froze.

"she is?"

Chu Wuyang nodded slightly.

"Hello"

Chu Wuyang seemed to detect a hint of hostility in the other person's eyes, but said nothing more.

Yang Jinchu took the umbrella from the driver and used it to shield Chu Wuyang's head before leading her inside.

In the living room, Yang Jinchu's parents sat relaxed on either side of the sofa, chatting casually, with soothing music playing in the background.

The warm fire in the fireplace dispelled the dampness, creating a cozy atmosphere.

The maid took the items from her hands, then glanced at Chu Wuyang with a hint of suspicion.
