A faint aroma of coffee wafted through the tea room. Rong Fu stood by the water dispenser, looking somewhat hesitant.
Her eyes lit up when she saw Chu Wuyang walk in.
But then things became complicated, as if tinged with hesitation and worry.
"Mrs. Jing..."
Rong Fu's voice was somewhat hesitant; she nervously gripped the water glass in her hand, her tone revealing caution.
"Oh no, Miss Chu, is that rumor true?"
Upon hearing this, Chu Wuyang paused slightly in her steps.
His brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.
It wasn't unexpected to see her here; the department buildings aren't far apart anyway.
She turned around, her gaze calmly falling on Rong Fu, her tone completely indifferent:
"What rumor?"
Rong Fu seemed to realize that she had been presumptuous, but since the words were already out, she could only bite the bullet and continue:
"It's about... Miss Yunyang... The rumors outside are quite detailed, saying she was injured while saving the big boss, and some people even..."
She paused, as if choosing her words carefully, and finally gritted her teeth, adding softly in a tactful tone.
"They say her relationship with Boss Jing is unusual."
After listening, Chu Wuyang's eyes darkened.
But she still didn't speak.
He simply watched Rong Fu quietly.
The aloofness in that gaze made Rong Fu panic.
Rong Fu bit her lip, trying to salvage her overly abrupt tone, and quickly waved her hand:
"I don't mean to meddle, but these rumors are just... too much."
“Miss Chu, I’m just worried about you and wanted to confirm, after all… it wouldn’t be good for you if these words got out.”
Upon hearing this, Chu Wuyang sneered and muttered:
"It's a rumor, but there's some truth to it..."
Then she realized she might have said something she shouldn't have, and gently straightened her cuffs.
When she looked up again, her eyes were like a deep pool of water, calm and undisturbed, making it impossible to see through her emotions.
"But rumors are just rumors, and sometimes the people who believe them are more ridiculous than the people who say them."
"You seem to be paying too much attention?"
Upon hearing this, Rong Fu's expression changed slightly.
She clearly sensed the distance and indifference in Chu Wuyang's words, as well as his feeling that she was being nosy.
——
Chu Wuyang, carrying a cup of coffee, was walking back to her office from the tea room along the corridor.
Just a few steps later, the elevator dinged and a tall, slender young man with an air of arrogance stepped out.
He wore black sunglasses, his face was angular, and he exuded an aura that was a mixture of nonchalance and danger.
The man wore a well-tailored black motorcycle leather jacket over a simple white T-shirt, dark blue ripped jeans, and a pair of limited-edition sneakers with a dirty look, exuding a casual yet flamboyant style.
He walked lazily down the corridor with his hands in his pockets and a defiant smile playing on his lips.
It's just a few steps.
He then saw Chu Wuyang coming towards him.
Chu Wuyang kept her head down, her attention completely focused on the coffee cup in her hand.
She had accidentally filled the cup a little too full, and now she was carefully holding it, afraid of spilling it and getting her clothes dirty.
She caught a glimpse of a shadow in front of her and realized that someone was blocking the way, so she naturally took a step to the side.
However, the man deliberately moved with her, as if determined to block her way.
Chu Wuyang frowned slightly, a hint of impatience rising in her heart. She raised her eyes, ready to see who it was.
The other person was standing in a dimly lit area, sunglasses covering half their face, revealing only their high-bridged nose and flippant smile.
That aura was inexplicably irritating.
Chu Wuyang stared at him for a few seconds, feeling a sense of both unfamiliarity and familiarity. He vaguely realized that he didn't know this person, so he didn't bother to argue and decided to walk around him and continue on his way.
But the man clearly had no intention of making way.
As if he had anticipated her intentions, he took another step forward and precisely blocked her path.
The curve of his lips deepened, carrying a hint of provocation.
Chu Wuyang's patience was almost completely exhausted.
Her brows furrowed even more, and she glanced at him coldly, her tone anything but friendly:
"Sir, is there something you need?"
The other person didn't answer, but instead tilted their head, as if scrutinizing her.
Then, he suddenly spoke lazily, his voice tinged with a hint of mockery:
"Sister, don't you really recognize me?"
He pronounced the word "sister" lightly and casually, as if a feather had brushed against my heart.
But it makes people feel inexplicably uncomfortable.
Chu Wuyang was slightly taken aback, staring intently at the face in front of her.
His sunglasses covered his eyes, but the lines of his lower face seemed strangely familiar to her.
Fragments of memories flashed through her mind: that wicked smile—she felt like she'd seen it somewhere before.
With his address of "sister," her thoughts gradually became clearer.
Chu Wuyang's gaze suddenly sharpened—this face,
He looks exactly like the "male protagonist" in her short-lived trending photos from a recent scandal!
Her heart skipped a beat.
His expression didn't change much; he simply pursed his lips slightly, and his tone lowered a bit:
"Sorry, I don't know you."
Upon hearing this, the man chuckled softly, lazily raised one hand, and slowly took off his sunglasses.
A mischievous glint shone in his eyes, as if he were watching a good show:
"Sister, you still don't recognize me?"
Chu Wuyang stared into those eyes and immediately understood.
He really is the person in the photo!
Who exactly is this person?
