Jingmin walked slowly into the banquet hall.
His gaze was gloomy, and a turbulent storm raged within his eyes.
Looking at the center of the dance floor, Chu Wuyang was being led by Yang Jinchu as they danced.
His face was terribly dark.
He sneered.
He took a glass of wine from a passing servant, his long, slender fingers slowly tightening around the glass, his knuckles turning slightly white.
In the end, he suppressed all his emotions and asked Li Yan beside him in a low voice,
"Didn't Yang Jinchu immigrate to Australia a long time ago?"
"What's the point of staying in Haicheng all day?"
"Find out what he's doing in Haicheng."
Li Yan nodded in understanding and quickly disappeared into the crowd.
Jingmin looked up at the center of the dance floor—
The two spun slowly, the interplay of red and blue creating an indescribable harmony.
His eyes suddenly darkened.
Jing Min strode forward, the air pressure around him suddenly dropping, the sinister look in his eyes almost materializing into a storm.
She wished she could immediately tear that extra hand away from Chu Wuyang's waist.
However, just as he was about to step onto the dance floor, a slender figure suddenly blocked his way—
Lin Yuebai wore a light purple floor-length dress, her hair was styled in an elegant updo, and her eyebrows and eyes were gentle and graceful.
She smiled slightly, her tone gentle yet carrying a hint of feigned dissuasion:
"With so many people watching, it would be impolite to rush up and snatch a dance partner."
Jing Min frowned, gave her a cold glance, and said impatiently:
"Get out of the way!"
Lin Yuebai silently blocked his path.
"If you act so impulsively, won't Chu Wuyang scold you for disregarding the occasion?"
Her tone softened, but her eyes held a calculating glint.
"Besides, the rules of the ball allow you to change partners, so why don't you wait until the music breaks to go?"
Jing Min narrowed his eyes, and the coldness around him froze for a moment.
He could certainly disregard everything and snatch the person back, but if he lost his composure in this situation...
It is indeed easy to become a target of public criticism.
Chu Wuyang inevitably argued with him afterwards... She had always been dissatisfied with his domineering nature.
If it is found that he has not changed, then the relationship between the two will inevitably... be back to square one.
His eyes narrowed, he considered the situation in his mind, and ultimately held back.
Lin Yuebai smiled, her tone light and cheerful:
"Since that's the case, and I don't have a dance partner, why don't we dance together?"
Jing Min glanced at her coldly, too lazy to respond.
They had already stepped onto the dance floor.
A glint of triumph flashed in Lin Yuebai's eyes. She gracefully adjusted her dress and followed him onto the dance floor.
The melodious tune slowly unfolded.
On the dance floor, guests twirled and intertwined, their skirts billowing, light and shadow swirling, as the music reached its climax.
It was the usual time at the ball to change partners.
Yang Jinchu, still holding Chu Wuyang's hand, hesitated before asking...
"Yangyang, is the rumor about Jingmin and the celebrity the other day true?"
Chu Wuyang was slightly taken aback, and was about to speak,
A long, strong hand suddenly intervened between the two, gripping her wrist without hesitation.
With a slight exertion, he pulled her directly away from Yang Jinchu's control.
She staggered, and before she could react, she bumped into a familiar embrace.
A chilling aura swept over, carrying suppressed anger; Jing Min's voice was low and restrained:
"Change dance partners—you won't mind, will you?"
Yang Jinchu's brow furrowed suddenly, and he was about to step forward to stop him.
Jing Min didn't even spare him a glance, instead holding Chu Wuyang's waist with one hand.
With his other hand, he gently grasped her fingertips, compelling her to follow his dance steps.
The two changed dance partners and were now close to each other; Jing Min scoffed.
"how?"
His eyes and brows were full of mockery.
"Mr. Yang seems quite concerned about my private affairs. If you're so eager to know, why don't you just ask me directly?"
His tone was casual, yet tinged with suppressed anger. His gaze swept over Yang Jinchu, a slight smirk playing on his lips as he coldly said:
"But it's no wonder, after all, some people are always particularly attentive to other men's wives."
Yang Jinchu's expression darkened slightly, his eyes became deep, and his fingers tightened, but he did not speak.
He gave Chu Wuyang a deep look, then looked away.
He gentlemanly extended his hand to Lin Yuebai and took his new dance partner.
Chu Wuyang was still reeling from the shock of being forcibly taken away.
Suddenly, in full view of everyone, Jing Min lowered his head and kissed Chu Wuyang's lips fiercely.
In an instant, only the sound of dance music could be heard on the dance floor.
Everyone continued dancing, but they all turned to look at this scene.
——
The melodious dance music slowly came to a close, but the guests' enthusiasm had not yet subsided.
Jing Min released Chu Wuyang, his fingertips intentionally or unintentionally caressing her wrist, his gaze deep and intense.
It was as if they hadn't yet shaken off the possessiveness they'd just felt.
Just then, Li Yan strode over and whispered a few words in his ear.
Jing Min frowned slightly, glanced at Chu Wuyang, and followed Li Yan away.
After his figure disappeared into the crowd, Chu Wuyang turned and walked towards the rest area.
The side hall and rest area of the banquet hall are decorated in a low-key and elegant manner.
The light from the crystal lamp shone down,
The guests sat in twos and threes on the soft sofas, chatting and laughing.
Chu Wuyang walked to the drinks section and casually picked up a glass of wine.
The transparent stemmed glass reflected the slender outline of her fingertips, and the wine shimmered as it swirled.
Just as she was about to take a small sip, a gentle voice came from beside her—
"This liquor has a high alcohol content, so ladies should drink less of it."
Zhou Heng approached without anyone noticing.
Holding a glass of white wine, his suit jacket slightly open, his demeanor remained refined and elegant.
His eyes, however, held a scrutinizing gaze that was somewhat ambiguous.
