Jing Min sat at his desk, slightly raising his head, his gaze cool and aloof.
Yan Zhou silently operated the tablet, and when the call connected...
Instantly, an image of Mr. Jin appeared on the big screen.
Mr. Jin sat at a luxurious desk.
Behind it is an exquisite family portrait, exuding a strong aristocratic air.
On the nearby bookshelf, some gold trophies and antiques were neatly arranged.
It appeared both magnificent and coldly austere.
In the picture, Mr. Jin, over seventy years old, is wearing a luxurious custom-made suit, with a serious face and dignified demeanor.
His voice was slow and steady, yet carried an undeniable air of authority:
"Jingmin, were you behind the exposure of the drug research on the cruise ship?"
Jing Min looked at that expressionless face and spoke calmly:
"The old man really overestimated me."
Mr. Jin smiled slightly after hearing this.
A smile, almost benevolent but tinged with calculation, appeared on his face:
"It's not an overestimation."
“You are the most outstanding of my descendants; I know very well how resourceful and intelligent you are.”
"When the Chu family's mine had that accident last time, you were able to easily resolve it with just a little effort. You truly are my good grandson!"
Jing Min's pupils contracted slightly, his tone tinged with a hint of gritted teeth.
"So it really was you who did this?"
Grandpa Jin chuckled softly, a smile that exuded a confident air of being in complete control.
"Of course I caused this,"
"The purpose is to test your true abilities and also to give you a wake-up call,"
"Haha, you really didn't disappoint me!"
As Mr. Jin finished speaking, a hint of pride appeared on his face.
He took the lit cigar from his assistant, took a deep drag, and
"However, you lack ambition. You inherited your mother's intelligence, but you also inherited her deep affection for her children."
"Otherwise, my Jin family business would have found a suitable successor long ago and achieved new glory."
Jing Min responded coldly.
"Old man, you're too greedy."
"The Jin family's businesses are already incredibly wealthy, yet they still want to achieve even greater success? Aren't they afraid of working themselves to death!"
Old Master Jin was clearly dissatisfied with this answer; he raised an eyebrow, his eyes sharpening slightly.
Greedy? Who would complain about having too much money?
"The more money you have, the more power you have, and the more control you have over the world."
"Everything is fake except for the monetary amount, which is longer than an ID number."
"Jingmin, you should listen to me and stop getting caught up in unrealistic romantic feelings."
A smile played on his lips, like that of a cunning old fox who knew exactly how to strike at the other person's weak spot.
He reminded her in a calm and purposeful tone.
"Do you foresee what will happen to your mother?"
Do you want to repeat the same mistake?
Jing Min looked directly into Old Master Jin's eyes and responded without fear:
"Stop talking nonsense. If you can't control my mother, how can you control me?"
Old Master Jin's expression darkened slightly, and he sighed helplessly, his tone carrying a hint of seduction.
"I'm too old to take care of you, but I can certainly take care of others, right?"
Jing Min's eyes narrowed slightly, a bad feeling creeping into his heart. He asked in a cold tone.
"What do you mean?"
Grandpa Jin seemed unconcerned about his reaction.
He squeezed the cigar in his hand slightly, his tone casual yet laced with a hint of threat.
"You're still too young, you don't know how to hide your weaknesses, your wife, Miss Chu..."
Grandpa Jin stopped there, quite pleased to see Jing Min's slightly angered expression.
He then changed the subject.
"However... it depends on your performance. If you perform well, I naturally won't interfere in your affairs..."
"But since you don't want to return to the Jin family as heir, and instead cling to your Jing family's worthless junk, willingly degrading yourself to associating with ants,"
"Don't interfere in the affairs of the Jin family, and stop investigating anything related to the cruise ship!"
His tone carried a strong sense of command.
Jing Min gave a disdainful sneer, his tone as cold as an ice blade.
"Why shouldn't they investigate?"
"It is only right that those who harm others should pay with their lives!"
"You won't touch a single one of my people, and I'll find and tear to pieces any of the people your Jin family has been hiding."
Finding out that person from the Jin family and venting his anger was something he had been insisting on for many years. How could he give up just because Old Master Jin said a few words?
If that person hadn't nearly killed him, there wouldn't have been the five years they were separated, and none of the subsequent misunderstandings would have occurred.
Thinking of this, he realized something else.
The old man's actions in stopping him certainly weren't out of compassion for his own descendants.
After all, he had many concubines and so many children and grandchildren that he couldn't even remember them all.
The fact that he went to such lengths to find him means he must value that person highly.
Jingmin smiled nonchalantly.
He stretched out and leaned back in the sofa chair, his tone carrying a hint of confidence.
"Grandpa, thank you for reminding me. Your Jin family has a vast network of connections, but it also has a lot of snakes, insects, rats, and deformed fruits."
"The fact that you would go to such lengths to keep him must mean he is a potential successor you value, right?"
"That will mean a large number of people will be eliminated."
He saw that Old Master Jin's face on the screen indeed turned red, and his tone became even more unrestrained.
"Yan Zhou, bring the list over here."
Yan Zhou flipped through the tablet in his hand and found the Jin family genealogy list.
Jingmin took it, lowered his head, and his slender fingers slid across the screen, stopping at a page.
He looked up and asked tentatively.
"After looking around for a while, only... your gay son who almost 'usurped the throne' and relied on me to keep an eye on him is somewhat interesting,"
