Chapter 272 You Promised

The kitchen returned to silence, and Chu Wuyang stood in front of the counter.

Li Yan's words were still echoing in his ears.

She knew that Li Yan was right.

Looking down at the yam he had just picked up but hadn't processed yet, he sighed softly.

Everyone around Jingmin is so worried.

He couldn't possibly be unaware of the seriousness of the situation, could he?

He was able to actively seek medical intervention when he realized he had psychological problems.

Now that it has fully erupted, why refuse treatment?

Seeing that quite a bit of time had been wasted, I stopped dwelling on the issue.

After asking the maid for tools to prepare the yams, she started cooking porridge.

But my mind is still unsettled.

The stirring motion in his hands became sloppy, and he accidentally scooped up a spoonful of scalding hot rice porridge.

It burned her arm.

"hiss--"

She gasped in pain.

Just as he was about to pull his hand back,

A faint scent of cedarwood wafted up from behind, mixed with the smell of disinfectant.

She hadn't reacted yet.

My wrist was grabbed.

She was led to a nearby tap, where the icy water lashed against her scalded, red hands.

The coolness penetrated her skin.

It even carried a bit too much force.

Why did you get down here?

She looked up in surprise and saw Jingmin standing beside her.

His face was pale, and he was clearly exhausted.

His profile was taut, his thin lips pressed tightly together.

He didn't say a word, nor did he look at her.

I just kept washing her.

The pressure from her fingertips was anything but gentle.

It even seemed as if he was carrying a hidden anger, pressing down on her reddened skin again and again.

She winced in pain and tried to pull her hand back.

"Alright, alright, Jingmin, that's enough!"

Jingmin finally let go, and the sound of water stopped abruptly.

He didn't immediately back away, but stared down at the back of her hand, his brows furrowed tightly.

Why aren't you here?

The voice was low and hoarse.

You can't hear any emotion in your voice.

But every word conveyed a sense of suppressed emotion.

Chu Wuyang was taken aback, not expecting him to ask that question.

He replied casually.

"I'm here."

She spoke softly, then pointed to the porridge on the stove that was almost cooked.

"I just came down to cook some porridge for you, I didn't leave."

She had barely finished speaking when she noticed a thin layer of sweat on Jing Min's forehead.

It was as if he had just recovered from some kind of fear.

Adam's apple bobbed slightly.

He seemed to be trying to control his emotions, but his fingertips were still exerting a slight pressure, gripping her wrist tightly.

Why aren't you in your room?

His voice rang out again.

This time it was even lower, carrying an overwhelming emotional fluctuation.

"You promised..."

He was sitting right there.

That phrase, "You promised," seemed to carry a certain stubborn obsession.

This made his voice sound exceptionally serious, and also exceptionally aggrieved.

Chu Wuyang looked at him and suddenly felt that the scene was a little... funny.

How did someone who narrowly escaped death end up with... a "childlike mentality"?

It seems like she's insecure and anxious, and she even gets angry when she wakes up and doesn't see anyone.

She couldn't help but tease him softly.

"That strict?"

"Can't we leave even a step?"

"Not even allowed to go to the restroom?"

But as soon as she finished speaking,

Jingmin's reaction caught her somewhat off guard.

He remained silent for a long time.

Her gaze slowly shifted away, her eyelashes lowered, and her emotions were shrouded in shadow.

He slowly loosened his grip on her hand, as if he had truly been hurt by her joke.

The atmosphere suddenly became quiet and somber.

Even the sound of the porridge bubbling on the stove became exceptionally clear.

Chu Wuyang felt a slight pang in his heart, realizing that he was truly depressed.

Why have you become so sensitive?

It was just a joke.

She quickly went over and turned off the fire, explaining softly.

"I... just wanted to cook you some porridge to soothe your stomach."

The voice also softened unconsciously.

"Your injuries haven't healed yet, and the doctor said your stomach isn't very good either, so you need to eat something light..."

Jingmin looked up at her.

Those deep eyes held complex emotions, as if hiding something struggling within them.

"But you promised me..."

Didn't do it again!

His voice was soft, yet it carried an almost obsessive stubbornness.

Chu Wuyang's heart skipped a beat.

I never expected that such a small thing would cause him to have such strong emotions.

She asked somewhat hesitantly.

"Jingmin...the doctor said you..."

Before she could finish speaking, Jing Min interrupted her,

“I was just kidding,”

He spoke those words quickly and abruptly.

Chu Wuyang was slightly taken aback.

"Um?"

Jingmin lowered his eyes and stopped looking at her.

"I was just joking with you. Who can sit there without moving for a long time?"

"Of course you need to go to the restroom. You're free to move around..."

His speech was somewhat unnatural; he was clearly not saying what he truly meant.

"Is this porridge for me?"

As he spoke, he stepped forward, picked up the bowl, and began scooping food with a spoon.

Chu Wuyang nodded.

"It's for you,"

She looked at Jing Min, somewhat bewildered.

joke?

But how does she see it?

Jing Min didn't smile at all; he didn't seem to be joking at all.

It seems like they were just trying to change the subject?

Don't you want to talk about his illness?

Seeing that Jing Min was clearly in a bad mood, Chu Wuyang asked, seemingly casually,
