Despite the anxiety of those around him and Chu Wuyang's opposition, Jing Min remained completely unmoved.
The documents Yan Zhou brought were casually placed aside without even being glanced at.
They've even started refusing to answer the phone.
Yan Zhou hesitated several times before finally turning all his pleas into a powerless sigh.
Chu Wuyang looked at the man across the table, who was eating elegantly, and felt a surge of annoyance.
He seemed oblivious to the chaos outside.
Like a monarch who has abandoned the affairs of state, he closes his eyes and ears, stubbornly confining himself to this isolated island.
And what about her?
She was like that bewitching concubine, who seduced the king and caused him to neglect his duties in the mornings.
All I want is to hold her hand and accompany her to admire the flowers and listen to the tides.
The sound of the knife and fork clattering on the porcelain plate was crisp and jarring.
Chu Wuyang could no longer hold back and slammed the cutlery on the table.
The chair scraped against the floor with a harsh sound.
She was so angry she didn't want to say anything, and turned to walk upstairs.
Behind him, Jing Min slowly put down his wine glass, his fingertips gently tracing the rim.
His deep gaze lingered on her departing figure.
His dark pupils revealed no emotion.
Chu Wuyang stayed in bed, covering herself with the blankets and ignoring everyone.
Not long after,
The other side of the bed is slightly sunken.
Jingmin gently lifted the corner of the blanket, revealing her slightly furrowed brows and tightly pursed lips.
The man's eyes were gentle, and his voice was low, as if he didn't want to disturb her.
"Yangyang, would you like to eat something?"
Chu Wuyang didn't move, and said in a muffled voice
"I'm not hungry."
Jingmin reached out and hugged her, blanket and all, then slipped his hand under the covers to gently stroke her back, his touch following the rhythm of her breathing, with a soothing patience.
"If I don't eat, my stomach will hurt at night."
The person under the covers stirred, seemingly swayed by what he said.
A moment later, she slowly lifted the blanket, revealing a face with complex emotions.
When Jing Min saw that she was finally willing to talk to him, the corners of his lips curled up slightly. He reached out to hug her, but was stopped by Chu Wuyang.
She looked into his eyes.
"Jingmin, when are we going back?"
Jingmin's expression faltered slightly.
He placed his palm on her lower abdomen, his fingertips gently caressing it, but his tone remained ambiguous.
"We'll go back once you're pregnant."
Chu Wuyang was stunned for a moment.
Anger surged within her, and she shoved his hand away, her voice suddenly rising.
"Jingmin!"
"Do you think I don't know what you're up to?"
Even if I get pregnant, you won't go back.
"Pregnancy requires rest and you can't do anything strenuous, so what's next?"
"After the baby is born, you'll say the baby is still too young, and we'll talk about it when the baby is older!"
Jingmin remained silent.
His deep eyes fell on her angry face, his thin lips pressed tightly together.
Looking at him like this, Chu Wuyang knew she was right.
That's exactly what he thinks!
She sighed, her tone softening, almost persuading.
“But Jingmin, the child will grow up. He needs a normal social environment. He can’t grow up in such a closed place. That will affect his personality.”
Jing Min frowned slightly, seemingly hesitant, and after a long while, he whispered,
"Then, let's wait until he's a little older before sending him off."
Chu Wuyang shook her head, her eyes filled with disappointment.
"A child's life is incomplete without the company of their parents."
Jingmin was stunned.
After a long silence,
He slowly raised his eyes to look at her, his voice so low it seemed to be squeezed out of his throat.
"Then... let's not have children."
"Just you and me, let's stay together forever, okay?"
Chu Wuyang was stunned.
She stared at Jing Min, a strange mix of bitterness and weariness welling up inside her.
She knew perfectly well what his purpose was in wanting a child.
Neither of them are particularly fond of children.
Therefore, she hopes to let things take their natural course.
But Jingmin is different.
His desire was tinged with an almost pathological obsession. He desperately wanted to use a child to keep her firmly by his side.
Therefore, during this period,
He frequently sought intimacy, and they made love almost every night.
She knew that after so many times, she would get pregnant sooner or later.
Even so,
She still held onto a sliver of hope.
They hope their children will be born into complete and warm families, rather than be used as shackles of confinement.
Now, Jingmin can say "I don't want it" so casually, making her heart grow colder and colder.
She slowly withdrew her hand, her voice carrying a hint of conflicted struggle.
"Jingmin, this is impossible,"
“Normal people need social interaction. We all have our own relatives and friends... You can’t trap yourself here like this, and you can’t trap me here too.”
Jing Min lowered his eyes, his fingers gripping the bed sheet tightly, his knuckles turning white.
He remained silent for a long time.
Suddenly he looked up and stared at her.
His dark eyes were unfathomable, and his voice was deep and menacing, as if harboring a storm.
"Why do you care about so many people and things..."
Chu Wuyang was taken aback by his question and didn't know how to answer for a moment.
Just then, Jing Min let out a cold laugh, his eyes gradually darkening, and suddenly asked,
"During those two weeks, did Zhou Heng leave some kind of mark on your heart?"
Chu Wuyang frowned, looking at him blankly.
