Chapter 283 Jealousy

Yang Jinchu's heart sank suddenly.

It felt as if something snapped in an instant.

It seemed as if only a thin thread remained, teetering precariously, ready to fall at the slightest tug.

It will then completely break down.

He stared at Chu Wuyang's profile.

His fingers tightened slightly, his nails digging deeply into the flesh of his palm.

He forcefully suppressed his surging emotions.

A moment later,

He slowly exhaled.

Forcing myself to calm down, my voice was low but steady:

"Yangyang, can we have a proper talk?"

Chu Wuyang did not turn around.

Stiff body

But he didn't take another step.

When Yang Jin first saw this,

As if seizing the last opportunity, he softened his tone even more.

“I know you’re probably angry, but things aren’t always as you think,”

"At least...give me a chance to explain, okay?"

There was a hint of pleading in his eyes.

It was so subtle, yet it made the person feel tired and depressed.

Like a person on the verge of drowning, desperately trying to grab onto a piece of driftwood on the shore.

Chu Wuyang stood still.

A turbulent mix of emotions welled up inside me: anger, confusion, disappointment...

In the end, it all turned into a weary sigh.

She lowered her eyes.

She eventually came back and slowly sat down opposite him.

Yang Jinchu watched her sit down, and his tense shoulders relaxed slightly.

The huge coffee shop was empty and quiet, with only the sound of cars driving away outside the window.

"Are you... alright?"

Are you injured?

His voice was deep and restrained.

It was as if every word had been carefully considered.

Chu Wuyang sat quietly, looking at him indifferently.

His lips were pressed tightly together, and he didn't say a word.

Her silence was like a dull knife.

It was tearing at Yang Jinchu's heart inch by inch.

He lowered his eyes, picked up his coffee and took a sip; the bitterness spread from the tip of his tongue to the bottom of his heart.

He put down his cup, his voice low and somber.

"I'm very sorry about what happened to Zhou Heng..."

"I didn't handle things well, which gave him the opportunity to escape to Switzerland and cause trouble."

Before the words were finished,

Chu Wuyang sneered and interrupted him directly.

"Didn't you team up with him to try and kill Jingmin?"

Saying "it wasn't handled well" is too lenient.

Even if she tried to justify Yang Jinchu in her heart, saying he wasn't such a despicable person,

But some facts are just right in front of us.

They narrowly escaped death because of a single phrase, "not handled properly."

The person who initially succeeded in reporting Zhou Heng was Yang Jinchu. If it weren't for his own selfish motives, how could Zhou Heng have escaped unscathed?

Yang Jinchu's fingers trembled slightly.

The coffee cup made a soft clinking sound on the saucer.

He looked up at her, his eyes filled with bitterness.

After a long silence, he slowly spoke.

"It seems you've lost even the last bit of trust you had in me..."

He lowered his eyelashes, his voice low and hoarse.

"Yangyang, no matter how selfish I am, I would never put you in danger."

Chu Wuyang was stunned for a moment.

She bit her lower lip and remained silent.

Yang Jinchu sighed and slowly explained,

"Behind Zhou Heng, it was Mr. Jin who was pushing things along."

"Old Master Jin's goal is to bring Jing Min back to the Jin family. He is Jing Min's maternal grandfather, so it's impossible that he really wants Jing Min to die."

"I let Zhou Heng go... I did have selfish motives at first, and I was going along with Old Master Jin's wishes."

He gave a wry smile.

"Yes, I admit it. I hope Jingmin goes back to the Jin family so that you two will separate."

"...But I never intended to kill him."

Chu Wuyang frowned slightly, her gaze softening somewhat.

Yang Jinchu continued,

"You know about the cruise ship incident, right?"

“If I really wanted him to die, I wouldn’t have saved him when he was being chased.”

He stared at her, his gaze filled with a complex mix of emotions.

"I really didn't expect Zhou Heng to join forces with Jin Zhuoer to try to kill Jing Min."

"I regret it... I shouldn't have had that selfish thought."

"Because I'd rather you get hurt than be separated from me."

Chu Wuyang's heart trembled violently.

She looked at Yang Jinchu, her eyes filled with complex emotions.

Yang Jinchu's words were so straightforward, there was no way she wouldn't understand.

She assumed that Yang Jinchu had completely moved on now that he was with Wen Ying.

She hesitated for a moment, then asked softly.

"You and Wen Ying...?"

Yang Jinchu was stunned for a moment, then smiled bitterly.

"I've never let go of you... I simply can't."

He took a deep breath, lowered his eyes, and said with a self-deprecating smile.

"Wen Ying and I weren't really together at first."

"You avoid me like the plague; otherwise, how could you possibly get close to me?"

"I also wanted to try to let go... so what happened later... I tried to have a serious relationship with her,"

"But no one can control matters of the heart."

He looked up at her, his eyes filled with unconcealed pain.

“I can’t lie to myself, and I can’t lie to her.”

"It's unfair not to treat her with my whole heart."

"So we talked it out, but haven't told either of our parents yet."

"We'll end things completely once she finds someone she truly loves."

Chu Wuyang stared at him blankly, feeling a mix of emotions she couldn't quite describe.

"Yangyang..."

He called her softly, his voice filled with hidden emotions.

"I admit that my selfishness almost caused a major disaster in this matter,"

"But from beginning to end, the person I least wanted to hurt was you."
