The sky was dark, and the streetlights cast cold, indifferent shadows in the night.
A chilling wind swept through the empty streets, sending shivers down one's spine.
The three faced each other through a glass door.
The air seemed to freeze.
Jingmin stood in the cold wind.
He was only wearing a thin coat, and the cold wind seemed to blow him away.
Although his old wounds had healed,
But having truly experienced life and death before
Therefore, his vital energy was severely depleted, and his body has not fully recovered.
Chu Wuyang gazed at his slightly trembling figure, her lips already turning pale.
My heart tightened for no reason.
Just as he was about to walk out,
Yang Jinchu, however, became unusually assertive.
He tightened his grip on her wrist, holding her tightly.
"In [Month, Year], our wedding date was set. On [Day], it rained heavily..."
Yang Jinchu spoke in a low voice, his tone as calm as if he were recounting an insignificant past event.
Chu Wuyang stopped and looked up at him.
"We had dinner at the hotel, and both sets of parents sat down to discuss the wedding details..."
Yang Jinchu lowered her eyes slightly, her voice indifferent, yet revealing disdain.
"Jing Min, who was already the president of Boyifang at the time, actually stood in the pouring rain for two hours without caring about anyone watching..."
His voice was light and airy, like raindrops falling on glass, yet each drop struck deep into the heart.
"He usually has bodyguards and drivers waiting for him whenever he goes out. His people are standing not far away, holding umbrellas and driving cars."
"He can get in the car and leave whenever he wants,"
"But he chose to stand in the rain, where you could see him..."
Chu Wuyang's heart clenched suddenly as the scene from that day flashed into her mind again.
The rain blurred my vision.
Jingmin's slender figure was stretched long by the streetlights, his suit clinging tightly to his body, his wet hair plastered to his forehead.
Shivering with cold, yet stubbornly standing there.
It was as if she wasn't going out.
He won't leave.
Yang Jinchu watched her expression change, a sarcastic smile playing on his lips, and couldn't help but berate and complain.
"He was standing in the rain, wearing a cashmere suit, an expensive watch, and top-quality leather shoes—everything about him was worth a fortune. A rainstorm could have ruined it all..."
"But he just stood there on purpose, not moving at all,"
"He just wanted everyone to see how pitiful he was, how deeply he loved and how unrepentant he was."
He chuckled softly, a laugh laced with malice.
"Isn't the goal just to create a buzz, attract attention, and soften your heart?"
"He acted so hard, but who was embarrassed when the crowd was watching?"
"Chu Wuyang, you feel sorry for him getting wet in the rain, but have you thought about how I feel?"
His eyes deepened, and his voice softened.
But it pierced her heart like a fine needle.
"Who would have thought that the president of Boyifang, who wields immense influence in Haicheng's business world, is most skilled at acting rather than business?"
"Such shameless behavior and clumsy performance, and you—"
He uttered those two words slowly, as if making an accusation.
"You actually took the bait!"
Chu Wuyang's eyelashes trembled slightly, and her breathing became a little erratic. She wanted to speak, but he interrupted her.
"You softened your heart, and I actually softened my heart too and didn't stop you."
Yang Jinchu said in a low voice,
It's like reminiscing, and also like questioning oneself.
"When you chased after him, I told myself that once you've explained things to him, you'll be completely separated and there will be no more connection between you."
"You also promised me that you would give me an explanation."
"I believe it."
He gave a bitter laugh, as if laughing at his own naiveté.
"But what explanation did I receive?"
"The next day, news reports were everywhere saying that you spent the night together in a hotel, which became the most sensational scandal among the wealthy in Haicheng at the time."
"Everyone was speculating about your relationship, and he was fueling the flames,"
"The large-scale dissemination of this matter caused a great stir, even involving the Chu family's business,"
"They managed to turn an ordinary scandal involving a wealthy family into a business crisis."
Yang Jinchu looked at her intently, his voice deep and resonant.
Bearing a slight, barely perceptible pain,
"You felt guilty that the Chu family was implicated, and thought it was all your fault, so you had to break off the engagement with me, but instead you ended up marrying the culprit?"
He paused for a moment, the smile on his lips almost invisible.
"Chu Wuyang, have you ever thought that from beginning to end, I was the one who was abandoned and ridiculed?"
Don't you feel even a little bit guilty towards me?
Chu Wuyang felt a tremendous shock as she listened to Yang Jinchu's accusations.
She had never seen him like this before.
The usually calm, gentle and polite person now spoke with a bitter and suppressed pain in his voice.
She had always thought of Yang Jinchu as a reassuring, comforting tree.
No matter what happens
He always stood silently behind her, offering her unconditional support and understanding.
But she forgot that back then, the rumors about her and Jing Min were everywhere.
Everyone was criticizing her for being shameless, which made Aunt An resentful towards her.
But what about Yang Jinchu?
He didn't utter a single complaint.
It was as if he could gently embrace all the hurt.
She had taken all of this for granted, never imagining that behind this silence...
What kind of torment and pain did Yang Jinchu endure?
A sudden pang of sadness struck her, and guilt and self-reproach surged within her.
She hesitated for a moment
Finally, he raised his hand.
