Chapter 298 Innocence

A strange yet eerily familiar face suddenly came into view.

The dim, yellowish lighting inside the car still managed to outline the man's well-defined facial features.

After releasing her, the man stood at a distance that wasn't too close, a hint of a smile in his eyes, and spoke softly.

"Long time no see, Yang... Wuyang."

As soon as the sound faded...

Chu Wuyang froze.

She subconsciously narrowed her eyes and stared intently at the other person—

She didn't recognize his facial features.

I've never seen anything like it!

But that sound... sent chills down her spine.

That's impossible!

She quickly lowered her head.

He made a very slight head-shaking motion, as if denying some absurd idea.

She clearly handed Zhou Heng over to Li Yan and the others to guard, so how could he possibly be here?

They even tied her up?

But that voice, that tone... it's clearly Zhou Heng!

Zhou Heng thought she was frightened by his sudden kidnapping, so he tried to reach out and comfort her.

Unexpectedly, Chu Wuyang sprang up like a startled bird, her movements too sudden.

It crashed directly into the inner wall of the car roof.

"Ugh...!"

She let out a muffled groan.

Are you alright?

Zhou Heng hurriedly withdrew his hand, his tone tinged with panic.

"I didn't mean to scare you..."

Chu Wuyang stared at him warily, her eyes full of defensiveness.

To avoid provoking a stronger reaction from her, Zhou Heng slowly lowered his arm.

He reached into the front seat of the car, took out a bottle of mineral water, and handed it to her.

"Have some water first."

He tried to keep his voice down.

But Chu Wuyang remained motionless, her gaze fixed on his face.

Seeing this, Zhou Heng shook his head helplessly.

He unscrewed the cap, took a sip, and indicated that there was no problem.

Even so,

Chu Wuyang remained motionless.

He paused, as if he understood what she was thinking.

She still remembered—the last time he took her away.

It was also in the car, and she was tricked into drinking water containing alcohol without her knowledge.

He sighed and didn't press the matter further.

He said, with a hint of apology in his expression,

"Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you."

This soft, comforting word eased her tense shoulders slightly.

But that's all.

She knew in her heart that this person was definitely up to no good.

Zhou Heng?

She was already certain of his identity; after all, his voice, posture, tone, and subtle rhythm of speech hadn't changed...

But this face?

Zhou Heng seemed to sense the doubt and wariness in her eyes, and began to explain.

"My face was remade, plastic surgery, skin grafts... It does look a bit stiff, not like it used to be..."

"But don't worry, you're slowly recovering, and you'll recover even better than before!"

He lowered his eyes, a hint of gloomy hatred flashing across them.

“That day we parted ways, Jingmin… that ungrateful bastard, he tampered with the plane.”

"He detonated the bomb. I survived by sheer luck, but my face..."

As he spoke, he raised his hand to touch his face, then looked up and stared intently at her.

"So during this time, I've been focused on recovery and treatment...that's why I haven't been able to come see you right away."

Chu Wuyang interrupted him sharply.

"Shut up! Let me go!"

"I don't know you at all, why are you arresting me?"

Zhou Heng seemed not to hear her, only looking at her with undisguised obsession and tenderness in his eyes.

His voice was low, a murmur tinged with a hint of obsession.

"How could we not be familiar with each other?"

He slowly approached her.

His eyes seemed lost in an unfathomable memory.

"Have you forgotten that we spent two weeks alone in our villa in Switzerland?"

"From the first time I saw you, I have never been able to forget you."

His tone was so gentle it was almost tender.

But the look in his eyes sent chills down your spine.

Chu Wuyang watched his self-directed and self-acted one-man show with cold eyes.

They couldn't even be bothered to complain.

“Zhou Heng, I don’t care how you survived, and I don’t want to know how you switched the prince with a cat.”

Her words were utterly cold.

"You've implicated the Chu family. Chu Yao was instigated to bribe officials because of you,"

"You'd better go back to your country now and testify to atone for your crimes."

Her questions and accusations were scathing.

But Zhou Heng seemed not to have listened at all.

He simply continued to give his "explanation" in a low voice.

Are you angry?

“It’s understandable that we’re angry,”

"Jin Bolin...he must have embarrassed you in public, right?"

His tone was slightly cool.

A different kind of excitement flashed in his eyes.

"I told him those things to embarrass Jingmin, but he was indeed a little out of control,"

"Like a mad dog, he disregarded all decorum and started causing a scene in public, smashing tables and pinching people. It was so shameful, with so many eyes looking down on him."

He smiled.

"Also, haven't you always wanted to leave him and get a divorce?"

“I’m trying to help you. Now that he knows about the mark on you, he won’t bother you anymore.”

"You're free now, so I'll take you away to a place he'll never find, okay?"

Chu Wuyang was shocked and furious upon hearing this.

So Jingmin's disappearance was really because her "mark" went out of control?

It's not that I've developed a bad taste for seeing her jealous.

They just had a huge argument!

Based on this calculation,

She was now certain that she had misunderstood Jingmin.
