Chu Wuyang stared at him blankly, a strange, inexplicable throbbing suddenly rising in her chest.
“Yang Jinchu…”
Her lips trembled slightly.
Yang Jinchu looked at her, a hint of worry flashing in his eyes.
Then, his gaze, sharp as a blade, locked onto Zhou Heng, who was slumped on the ground, and he spoke in a cold voice, each word distinct and clear.
"Let her go."
Zhou Heng gritted his teeth, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, but he didn't loosen his grip in the slightest.
"I didn't expect you to arrive first?"
He was breathing heavily, a mocking smile playing on his lips.
Where is Jing Min?
Yang Jinchu sneered, his eyes darkening further.
"You still have time to care about other people?"
Despite the excruciating pain, Zhou Heng slowly stood up, his left hand still tightly gripping Chu Wuyang.
He spoke slowly and deliberately, his words carrying a hidden meaning.
"No, I was actually asking on your behalf."
"After all, my fate was already sealed, but considering our collaboration,"
"Between you and Jingmin, of course I'm on your side."
Upon hearing this, Yang Jinchu seemed to have been reminded of something.
He was clearly startled, his body stiffened slightly, and he neither spoke nor dared to look at Chu Wuyang.
Seeing this, Zhou Heng continued his mockery without restraint.
"What? You're not going to let me off this time?"
Yang Jinchu narrowed his eyes slightly, his tone cold and deep.
“You should go back to China and pay for your actions! The Chu family, my Zhou family, and all your business partners who have been implicated—”
Zhou Heng smiled nonchalantly.
"I'm sorry! There's nothing I can do to help."
Chu Wuyang slowly turned her head to look at him, her brows furrowed.
"What do you mean?"
Zhou Heng's expression became somewhat broken.
Right under Yang Jinchu's nose, he pulled Chu Wuyang back to the edge of the cliff they had just been on.
"Zhou Heng!"
Yang Jinchu suddenly spoke, a wary growl.
"what you up to?"
Chu Wuyang was practically dragged along by him, and the two quickly approached the cliff.
Yang Jinchu dared not fire the gun, fearing that if she provoked him, Zhou Heng would really jump down with her.
Undeterred by Yang Jinchu's gun threat, Zhou Heng threw the gun he was holding in his right hand to the ground.
Chu Wuyang was held firmly in his grasp, unable to move, her eyes filled with terror.
"Zhou Heng, what exactly are you trying to do?"
Did he abandon even the weapon he had to save his life because he wanted to take her down with him?
However, Zhou Heng simply pulled a handkerchief from his pocket, his tone unusually gentle.
"Don't be afraid, I just want to help you wipe the blood away."
It's inconvenient to hold a gun in your hand.
His gaze fell on her calf, which was scratched by a branch, and he bent down to touch it.
She abruptly pulled her leg back in refusal.
"Need not!"
Zhou Heng was slightly taken aback, then straightened up with a hint of regret.
His tone carried a twisted sense of gentlemanliness.
"Okay, if you say no... then no."
Chu Wuyang glanced at the bottomless cliff behind her out of the corner of her eye and was so frightened that she quickly closed her eyes.
"Don't be afraid,"
Zhou Heng's tone was gentle, as if he were trying to soothe her.
"Don't look."
He paused for a moment, then said softly.
"I'm sorry I can't see you off... but thank you anyway, for seeing me off."
Chu Wuyang was so frightened that she dared not open her eyes completely.
I don't want to listen to or understand the deeper meaning behind his words.
Yang Jinchu, who was in the distance, remained highly vigilant, his eyes fixed on the two of them.
I was a bit far away, so I couldn't hear what they were saying.
But in his mind, he was rapidly calculating how much distance the two needed to create before he could fire.
To avoid accidentally injuring Chu Wuyang
After all, Zhou Heng is now penniless and on the verge of death.
If he were in danger, it's not hard to imagine that he would drag Chu Wuyang down with him!
He stared at the precarious edge, his voice steady yet urgent, as he negotiated.
"Zhou Heng, let her go!"
"I'll let you go and guarantee your safety and a worry-free life... as long as you let her go."
After listening, Zhou Heng let out a cold laugh, full of sarcasm.
"I just asked you if you wanted me to go, but you didn't answer."
He turned and glanced at Chu Wuyang, his eyes dark and unfathomable.
"Unfortunately, I've changed my mind now."
