Chapter 311 Waiting for You at Home

Haicheng International Airport.

People were coming and going near the security checkpoint before the flight took off, and announcements were made repeatedly.

Chu Wuyang looked at Ye Yuhe, who was saying goodbye to her family not far away.

A feeling I can't quite explain is stuck in my chest.

Chu Yao's case ultimately upheld the original verdict.

The fate of Zhou Heng, a key figure, remains unknown, and crucial evidence that could have influenced the verdict has been lost.

But unexpectedly,

When questioned, Ruan Xi lost control of her emotions and revealed almost all the inside story.

Her stubbornness, which was more foolish than clever, ultimately confirmed her status as an accomplice in the matter of luring Chu Yao into bribery.

The judge mentioned the possibility of a retrial, but Chu Yao refused.

He said, "The responsibility for what Ruan Xi did lies entirely with me."

With a single sentence, he took all the responsibility upon himself.

When Ye Yuhe learned of this news, she was not disappointed, but remained silent for a long time.

She said she didn't blame him, but she wouldn't wait for him anymore.

Standing before her was Ye Yuhe, dressed in a smart trench coat, with slightly curled short hair, and her hand holding a suitcase exuding composure.

That once delicate and emotional little princess has long since shed her fragile exterior and become a true rose with sharp edges.

Chu Wuyang looked at her, his eyes filled with undisguised reluctance and heartache.

"Do we really have to go that far?"

Ye Yuhe nodded, her expression relaxed.

"Actually... photography has always been my dream, and now I can finally pursue it without any distractions."

"If possible, I would also like to shoot some public service videos, maybe in war zones or in post-disaster reconstruction—but someone should record them all."

"I want to see more different corners of the world."

"War zone?"

Chu Wuyang's expression changed slightly, and he advised,

"It's too dangerous... Chu Xi has already promised Grandpa she'd come back to Haicheng. With him here, with his wealth of war zone experience, you..."

Ye Yuhe interrupted her, her tone gentle yet firm.

"Yangyang, it has nothing to do with Chuxi. I can take care of myself whether he's here or not."

"What I'm doing now is for myself."

For a moment, Chu Wuyang looked at Ye Yuhe in front of him and suddenly felt a little dazed—

They've all weathered many storms, each stumbling and bumping along their own paths to growth.

Now, Ye Yuhe has finally found her own path.

"Okay, then you must take good care of yourself."

She hugged her and whispered.

"Call me whenever you have time, and remember to send me any interesting photos you take."

"Of course."

Ye Yuhe smiled brightly.

Before parting, Ye Yuhe picked up her suitcase, then suddenly turned around and teased her, "..."

"And you? Have you and Jingmin finally settled down?"

Chu Wuyang didn't reply, but just smiled gently.

His eyes darted away slightly.

Ye Yuhe understood and didn't ask any further questions.

He just whispered something.

"Then I wish you all the best and look forward to your little baby."

She waved and walked into the crowd without looking back.

Chu Wuyang watched her retreating figure until she disappeared into the crowd.

I just left the security checkpoint and haven't even left the airport terminal yet.

Chu Wuyang's phone vibrated.

The caller ID showed Jingmin.

A smile unconsciously crept onto her lips as she answered the call.

"Hello?"

The voice on the other end of the phone was deep and gentle, with a barely perceptible hint of fatigue.

"I'll be in Haicheng in three hours."

"So fast?"

Chu Wuyang was taken aback for a moment, then her tone carried a hint of helplessness.

"You just went on a business trip yesterday...why not stay another night? Don't work so hard."

Suddenly, there was silence on the other end.

She was startled, and called out softly.

"Jingmin?"

"Huh? No signal?"

After a long pause, the man finally spoke in a barely audible voice:

"……Um."

Chu Wuyang immediately realized what was happening and quickly changed her words.

"Okay, okay, then come back quickly, I'll be waiting for you at home."

She thought this would appease him, but he remained silent on the other end.

Chu Wuyang: "What's wrong?"

Jingmin: "Didn't you just drop someone off?"

Chu Wuyang: "Yeah, so what?"

Jingmin: "..."

Actually, what Jingmin wanted to say was—didn't she just drop off Ye Yuhe?

Are you still at the airport?

Why can't we just wait for him?

Why wait at home?

But the words were on the tip of his tongue...

He didn't ask, he just kept quiet and brooding.

Chu Wuyang realized what was happening.

“I… it’s not that I didn’t want to wait for you, it’s just that the company just notified me that the children’s playground built specifically for the orphanage needs to be inspected. I’m the person in charge, and it’s going to open to the children tomorrow, so I have to go there to see the construction in person.”

She explained it earnestly and gently.

Why are you being given so much work?

He finally spoke, his tone revealing his displeasure.

"Who scheduled the shifts? I'm firing that manager."

"Please don't!"

Chu Wuyang quickly stopped her, and said softly,

“I’ve been on leave for so long, and I’m finally back at work. The director is still willing to continue mentoring me, so I have to cherish this opportunity.”

“He didn’t stop me from taking on big projects just because I lacked experience, so I couldn’t refuse.”

There was a few seconds of silence on Jingmin's end.

He was clearly still not very happy.

Chu Wuyang smiled, her voice carrying a slightly coaxing tone.

"From the moment you board the plane until you get off the plane and go home, I guarantee I can get everything done."

"How about you seeing me the moment you get home?"

The person on the other end finally breathed a sigh of relief and hummed in response, though their tone still carried a hint of awkwardness.
