"Shut up!"
A sinister voice suddenly burst from the phone.
Chu Wuyang was startled and subconsciously looked down at her phone screen.
Zhou Chen gasped as if struck by lightning, his face filled with astonishment.
The call—is it still going?
He stirred up trouble in front of Jing Min, only to be caught red-handed by the person directly involved.
"Um... I was just rambling,"
"Really, there's no surveillance. This is...this is a normal work procedure, a routine, really a routine..."
Zhou Chen waved his hands repeatedly, his voice stammering, trying to salvage the situation.
Chu Wuyang snorted coldly, her eyes icy.
Do you think I'd believe that?
Jingmin spoke softly on the other end of the phone.
"Yangyang, you've misunderstood. What Zhou Chen said earlier wasn't true."
"He's just jealous; he can't stand to see us doing well."
"It's true that I let him take photos, but it was definitely not to spy on you. It's because... I missed you."
Chu Wuyang chuckled and retorted,
"So, you filmed Jin Xian because you miss him?"
There was a pause on the other end of the phone, and Jing Min's voice sounded slightly guilty.
"Of course not... He was filmed because he has a problem."
He cleared his throat and continued to smooth things over in a serious tone.
"As the group president, the image of our brands is of great importance."
"Jin Xuan is one of the spokespeople. Whether his private morality is sound and whether there are any high risks involved are all related to the reputation of the group."
"I can't ignore this!"
He spoke with righteous indignation, as if it were not out of personal motives but a reasonable and official matter.
Zhou Chen, standing to the side, rolled his eyes and his lips twitched uncontrollably.
When Chu Wuyang's gaze swept over him, he immediately switched his expression, a smile spreading across his face.
"Yes, the boss is absolutely right, it's all my fault."
"I'm petty, jealous, have a dark side, love to stir up trouble, and after being dumped, I wanted to take revenge on society. I'd break up any couple I could..."
Jing Min coughed lightly twice on the phone, a subtle warning coming through.
Zhou Chen wisely shut his mouth, lest he be arrested along with everyone else if he continued talking.
Chu Wuyang watched the two performers quietly, her expression calm.
She didn't believe a single word about either of those two people.
People who can get along well are probably all crazy.
Her tone was indifferent.
"That's all, I'm hanging up."
After speaking, she looked up at Zhou Chen, her expression calm, yet revealing undisguised annoyance.
"And you, get out of here if you have nothing to do, stop causing trouble."
Zhou Chen's heart sank when he saw that her expression was off.
He knew that if he brought this emotion back, he would definitely give Jing Min a hard time.
If Jing Min becomes unwell, not only will he suffer, but his subordinates will also have a hard time.
Even he might be affected.
He sighed softly, trying to ease the tension.
“Yangyang, listen to me, don’t be so cold… Your husband’s condition is really a bit scary.”
"It breaks my heart to hear this; he's almost gone neurotic,"
"Otherwise, what do you think I'd be doing this for, risking being kicked away by you to act as a human camera?"
"Do you think it's easy for me to keep such a close eye on an artist on the set of an advertisement shoot, like I'm conducting a census?"
Chu Wuyang's eyes flickered, and his expression relaxed slightly.
Jingmin's condition,
He had tried psychotherapy last time, and she accompanied him.
Treatment is not as simple as sitting down and having a chat.
The attending physician at that private clinic was no ordinary person either. His assistant had privately told her that the treatment used to address his obsessive-compulsive dreams and violent impulses at night was a non-invasive EEG intervention system, which, while not involving harm,
However, it can have a certain impact on mental stress, and may sometimes even lead to short-term migraines, sensory disorientation, or memory lapses.
The process is anything but easy!
She remembered that after the first treatment, Jingmin simply said something...
"good."
But when she turned her head, she saw that his lips were pale and his fingers were trembling slightly.
She didn't expose him, but quietly told the driver to start the car, a strange, bitter feeling welling up inside her.
After all, it was she who insisted that he get treatment.
She lowered her eyes and whispered.
"knew."
Seeing her expression soften, Zhou Chen secretly thought, "This is promising."
Immediately seizing the opportunity, she smiled and leaned forward to ask Jingmin the question he was most concerned about.
"I knew it! Our little sun is beautiful and kind-hearted, why would she be interested in some random guy outside?"
Chu Wuyang rolled her eyes, her tone indifferent.
"Can't you see I'm working?"
It means I don't have time to deal with those trivial things.
"I saw it! I saw it!"
Zhou Chen smiled ingratiatingly.
"I'll leave right now and won't bother you at work—"
Before he could finish speaking, a considerable commotion suddenly broke out on set.
Several staff members turned around and looked in a certain direction, then quickly made way for each other.
During a break in filming, Jin Xian overheard someone say something...
He walked over laughing, casually ripping off his coat as he went.
"Sister Yangyang—"
His voice carried its usual flippancy, and his steps were as graceful as if he were walking a runway.
"Were you not really looking at the camera during that last group?"
"I bet you prefer a wilder style."
Before he finished speaking, he had already walked up to Chu Wuyang, the jacket in his hand flying up and landing right on her shoulder.
Then, his hand naturally ruffled her hair, and he smiled innocently.
"I feel cold for you even if you're not cold. If you catch a cold and can't finish filming the commercial, you'll be fined. Aren't you grateful for my thoughtfulness?"
Chu Wuyang frowned, but before she could say anything, Jin Xian pulled her away without a second thought.
Zhou Chen stood there, stunned, looking down at the phone still connected to the call in his hand.
He froze for half a second.
That noise must have been transmitted to Jingmin's ears clearly and without any omission through a distinct audio signal.
There was a half-second silence on the other end of the phone, and the air seemed to suddenly drop in temperature.
...It's all over, all that effort was for nothing.
He was just trying to be a peacemaker, but now...
Instead of appeasing the person, they ended up sending them into the crater.
Those actions, those lines, that tone—he'd bet that, given Jing Min's current mental state,
Even over the phone, I could imagine a whole melodramatic soap opera-like scenario between Jin Xuan and Chu Wuyang.
And at that moment,
A soft sound came from the other end of the phone—like the sound of a phone being accidentally bumped while someone was clenching their teeth.
Short and muffled, yet carrying an intensely suppressed anger.
Zhou Chen shivered instinctively and almost reflexively hung up the phone.
He had just breathed a sigh of relief when a text message notification popped up on his screen.
Send me the address.
His tone was as calm as water, yet as dangerous as ice.
Zhou Chen silently raised his head and looked at Jin Xian, who was still oblivious to his impending doom, laughing and trying to look cool.
His eyes were filled with "Brother, take care."
He swallowed hard, his finger trembled slightly, but he still obediently sent the location information.
