Chu Wuyang stood in the parking lot, surrounded by dim lighting and the occasional passing car.
The evening breeze gently lifted the hem of her skirt, and she held her phone to her ear.
Her voice was low and tinged with weariness.
"Hey, Ah Jin?"
Yang Jinchu's warm voice came from the other end of the microphone.
"Yangyang, are you going to Thailand?"
Chu Wuyang closed her eyes briefly and whispered,
"yes."
The other side didn't hesitate at all.
"I'll go with you."
She hesitated for a moment, then quickly declined.
“Ah Jin, you don’t need to do this. Jin Xian has no relation to you, and you have no responsibility for him.”
A soft laugh came from the other end of the phone, like a gentle breeze brushing against my heart.
"Yangyang, what you're saying is a bit unreasonable."
"How can we be unrelated?"
"Don't forget, Xingci's surname is still Yang. We're family."
"So, by that logic, he's also my younger brother."
"If we're really talking about who's closer to whom, isn't he closer to me than you are?"
Chu Wuyang's expression slowly darkened; her fingertips traced the car door, and she murmured to herself.
"But... the reason he got into trouble was mainly because of me."
Yang Jinchu sighed softly.
"Yangyang, listen to me, this has nothing to do with you."
“I’ve already found out; it was the Jin family’s doing.”
"Although Old Master Jin did not appear directly, as long as he released some information, there would naturally be families rushing to curry favor with the Jin family."
"The Chen family are exactly that kind of people!"
He paused, his voice growing deeper.
"Besides, I know that Jingmin is definitely not in a position to show up because of his relationship with the Chen family, and you are pregnant. How could I let you go there alone?"
Chu Wuyang gripped her phone tightly, hesitating.
"But the Chen family has a powerful background. Negotiating with them might cause you..."
"Tsk—"
Yang Jinchu smiled, his tone slightly mocking.
"You underestimate me? I'm no ordinary person either."
"But--"
She opened her mouth, but hadn't finished speaking.
"No buts."
Yang Jinchu's tone was gentle yet authoritative.
"I've already arranged the plane, it's settled then."
When Jingmin returned home, he pushed open the door and saw Chu Wuyang squatting in front of his suitcase.
She deftly stuffed clothes inside; the closet doors were wide open.
Half the room was in complete chaos.
His expression changed instantly, his heart skipped a beat, and he quickly stepped forward, reaching out to lift her up.
"Yangyang, what are you doing?"
Chu Wuyang frowned.
"Jingmin, calm down,"
But he wouldn't listen to any of it.
They started taking the clothes she had just stuffed in out one by one, and casually tossing them back into the walk-in closet.
Are you running away from home?
"Did Mr. Jin say something to you?"
"Yangyang, listen to me, you can't believe a single word he says!"
After calming down in the office, Jing Min quickly realized that it was Old Master Jin stirring up trouble again.
"Yes, I admit it. It was I who sent Jin Xian abroad, which was tantamount to throwing out bait,"
"But I absolutely never intended for him to die!"
Jingmin's voice was low and hoarse, filled with urgency and panic.
He was truly afraid.
Chu Wuyang values family ties the most. Back then, before the reasons for her grandmother's affair were even fully investigated, she implicated him, leading to a two-year separation.
Now that Jin Xian is in trouble again... he can't even imagine what it will be like.
Chu Wuyang struggled twice, but seeing that he hugged her even tighter, she said in a calm voice,
"Let go, Jingmin."
"There's no point in talking about these things now. The most important thing is that Jin Xian is safe."
"I want to go to Country T."
Upon hearing this, Jingmin abruptly released her and turned to face her.
"You alone? No way!"
"I know far better than you what the Chen family's background is and what kind of business they're in."
"This is too dangerous! I absolutely will not allow you to take this risk!"
Chu Wuyang lowered her head and gently pushed his arm away.
He knelt down slightly to continue tidying the clothes, his tone calm.
"Yang Jin first met together."
Jing Min was stunned for a moment.
His eyes darkened instantly; he couldn't suppress the jealousy and resentment welling up in his chest.
"Chu Wuyang! You think I can't help you now, so you're going to Yang Jinchu?"
Chu Wuyang didn't even raise her head; her hand movements were fluid.
"No. You already have a grudge against the Chen family. If you step in, it might just provoke their resentment and lead them to take retaliatory measures against Jin Xian."
"Since you keep saying you don't want to kill him, you'd better stay out of this."
“Didn’t you say you were worried about me going alone? Then let Yang Jinchu go first. That’s the safest option right now.”
Her argument was so logical and well-founded that Jingmin couldn't find a single word to refute it.
He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and after a moment spoke slowly.
"I want to be there. I can... not show up, just do the logistics."
Chu Wuyang paused, raised her eyes, and spoke in a calm tone.
"Can."
The room fell silent instantly, with only the rustling sound of her tidying her clothes.
Jing Min slowly squatted down, her gaze level with Chu Wuyang's. Her eyes were red, and her voice was low, tinged with a hint of bitterness.
"Yangyang...do you want to leave me?"
Chu Wuyang's hand, which was folding clothes, suddenly paused, her fingertips freezing in mid-air, trembling slightly.
But there was still no answer.
Jingmin looked at her silence, feeling as if a dull knife was slowly carving open his chest.
His face tightened, and he suddenly reached out and gripped her wrist tightly.
The voice was stubborn and urgent.
