The afternoon sky was overcast and gloomy, with thick clouds hanging like a gray curtain overhead.
The entire Chen residence was shrouded in a sinister atmosphere.
Deep within the Buddhist hall, incense was burning brightly.
Wisps of smoke curled around the golden Buddha statue, and the ever-burning lamp beneath the incense burner flickered like a staring eye.
It was hot and humid outside, but the inside of the hall was bone-chillingly cold.
It was as if this place did not belong to the mortal world.
Chu Wuyang and Yang Jinchu walked along the corridor filled with mahogany carvings, their feet treading on clean yet dark-stained stone bricks.
The walls on both sides are covered with yellowed old photos and portraits of Chen family members throughout history, displaying their authority.
The living room wasn't full, but the atmosphere was so oppressive that it was hard to breathe.
Chen Guang did not appear.
Seated at the head of the table was Old Master Chen, dressed in a gray cloth long gown, holding a string of sandalwood prayer beads in his hand.
His hair was combed meticulously, but his brows and eyes held a cold sharpness that only the elderly possess.
On either side were several core elders of the Chen family.
Two rows of bodyguards in black stood behind him, their murderous aura still palpable.
When Chu Wuyang and Yang Jin first entered,
The other person didn't get up either, just glanced at them indifferently, as if they were two uninvited guests.
"You two, one is Mrs. Jingmin, and the other is...who is she?"
His gaze swept over Yang Jinchu, tinged with suspicion and hostility.
Yang Jinchu remained calm and composed, answering softly.
"I am Chu Wuyang's older brother. I'm here today to take someone back."
"You mean Jin Xian?"
The old man spoke with disdain.
“That child was touched by one of my son’s men, I know that.”
"But it's not something I can just let go of based on a few words from you."
Chu Wuyang spoke directly, his tone clear and firm.
"Old Master Chen, I won't waste any more words."
“Jin Xian is my younger brother. I can’t just ignore what’s happening to him.”
“He really didn’t do anything wrong. Even Chen Guang knows that he’s just an entertainer. He kidnapped him to embarrass me. To put it bluntly, he was targeting me and Jing Min.”
As soon as she spoke, there was a slight commotion in the room, and people were whispering to each other.
The old man raised an eyebrow.
"Girl, you're quite bold to speak your mind."
"It's not that I dare to say it, it's just a fact."
Chu Wuyang's voice wasn't loud, but every word she uttered hit the nail on the head.
“We all know that the Jin family wants Jingmin to go back recently, but Chen Guang kidnapped people, provoked them, and made threatening remarks. Do you think this is helping Old Master Jin or making things more difficult for him?”
Are you threatening me?
The old man's tone finally turned a bit cold.
"It's not a threat, it's a reminder."
This time, Yang Jinchu took over the conversation.
"If Grandpa Jin really wants to achieve his goal, Jingmin will definitely have to return to the Jin family."
"Do you really think he won't remember what happened today when he gets back?"
The air suddenly became quiet for a moment.
Grandpa Chen didn't speak, but gently tapped the armrest of the chair.
Yang Jinchu continued,
"We're not here today to cause trouble or make a scene."
"If you're willing to give me this face, then this matter will be over."
"If you're not willing, then no one can expect to let bygones be bygones."
"You make it sound so easy."
"This matter should not have been blown out of proportion in the first place."
Yang Jinchu spoke in a calm tone.
“As you know, the Royal Shadow is currently reviewing its accounts. The owner may seem like an outsider, but if things get serious, nobody wants to be named.”
"The people Chen Guang offended might not be a problem today,"
"But who knows what will happen in the future."
Only then did Old Master Chen slowly say something.
"He does act a bit recklessly."
He picked up his teacup and gently blew on it to warm it.
"I'm old, I don't manage things much anymore,"
"Chen Guang said it was just settling some small accounts, and I didn't ask any further questions."
"As you all know, there's that old grudge between him and Jingmin... the usual squabbles between the younger generation."
Chu Wuyang, however, did not beat around the bush.
"But this time it's no small matter, he's taking lives!"
Only then did Old Master Chen take Chu Wuyang seriously.
His gaze swept between her and Yang Jinchu, his tone as if it were unrelated idle chatter.
"Girl, don't be too attached to anything. Let it go, relax a bit, and maybe things will take a turn for the better."
Yang Jinchu replied in a gentle voice,
"Mr. Chen, we will all remember your kindness in resolving Jin Xian's matter."
“But as you know, if something really happens to him—Jingmin might not be able to hold him back.”
"These words..."
Old Master Chen squinted his eyes.
"It's like you're using him to scare me?"
"I'm not trying to scare you."
Yang Jinchu's voice was as gentle as spring water.
"I'm giving you a chance, so your young master doesn't accidentally end up taking the blame for someone else."
The sharp edge hidden in those words even startled Chu Wuyang.
Old Master Chen simply smiled.
"Interesting, very interesting."
"You are a very tactful person, but you can also be really venomous."
"Thank you for the compliment."
Yang Jinchu bowed slightly, his tone casual.
Old Master Chen calmly took a sip of tea, then suddenly gave an order to someone standing nearby.
"Go, bring the person here."
The people beside Old Master Chen quickly retreated.
Chu Wuyang lowered her head and gently exhaled.
The situation has finally been stabilized.
Not long after,
A subordinate rushed in from outside and whispered in Old Master Chen's ear.
"Sir, I'm sorry, just now... the Jin family took the person away an hour ago."
Old Master Chen frowned.
Why didn't anyone report me?
Chu Wuyang, who had been sitting, stood up nervously upon seeing Grandpa Jin's expression.
