Old Master Jin was clearly taken aback.
"No, that's not it. I just have a question—Miss Chu, is this the first time you've met Qilin today?"
Chu Wuyang's tone was indifferent, and her eyes showed no emotion whatsoever.
"Just think of it as me disliking him."
After saying that, she looked up and stared directly at him, a slight sneer playing on her lips.
"What, does the old man think that Jin Qilin is not qualified to be Jing Min's opponent?"
She scoffed lightly, her tone carrying an undisguised contempt.
"Tsk tsk... Come to think of it, Jin Zhuoer and Jin Bolin are both hopeless... You went to great lengths to drag Jing Min back to the Jin family because you saw through their abilities?"
Grandpa Jin sat upright, unmoved by her sarcasm, merely slightly lifting his eyelids.
"Qilin is indeed inferior to Jingmin,"
“But he was also raised by my Jin family, and he is the most likely successor among the third generation.”
His gaze slowly fell on Chu Wuyang's face, as if trying to see through her.
"Your sudden suggestion to promote Qilin makes it hard for me not to suspect that you have ulterior motives."
"You're a very shrewd young lady, and your methods are not much worse than Jingmin's. If I don't keep an eye on you, I might get caught up in your schemes one day."
Chu Wuyang laughed out loud upon hearing this, her tone sarcastic.
"The old man has probably done too many bad things, and he seems to have ulterior motives towards everyone he meets."
"Don't forget, you were the one who went to great lengths to drag me into this mess."
"Now that I've agreed and even planned out a way out for you, you're still being suspicious?"
She paused, then said coldly,
"What's that saying again?"
"Trust those you employ, and do not employ those you do not trust."
"The old man has been in the business world for decades, surely he understands this simple principle?"
Grandpa Jin laughed twice, his voice deep and powerful.
"Then it's up to you."
"No matter how outstanding Qilin is, he can't shoulder the heavy burden of the Jin family in the end."
"In order to ensure Jingmin's smooth return, it wouldn't hurt to listen to you this once."
He suppressed his smile and added meaningfully,
"You still have your younger brother and the entire Chu family; I doubt you can cause any real trouble."
Chu Wuyang didn't reply, but instead lowered her head and gently shook the empty teacup in her hand, her fingertips rubbing the rim of the cup.
———
A pungent smell of disinfectant entered my nostrils.
Chu Wuyang opened her eyes groggily.
The ceiling was low and unfamiliar. Turning my head, I saw a dim wall lamp draped over a curtain, casting a dark light.
She felt extremely dizzy.
It felt like someone had stuck a stirring rod in my brain, my thoughts were churning, a complete mess.
My body felt like it was being weighed down by a heavy object, so heavy that I couldn't move, and my limbs felt so limp that they didn't feel like they belonged to me.
She frowned and instinctively tried to sit up, but her wrist was pressed down as soon as she moved.
"Miss, you can't get up now."
She was a nurse in a white uniform, her voice steady yet carrying an undeniable restraint.
Chu Wuyang paused, turned to look at her, his throat dry.
"What... happened to me?"
The nurse looked at her and reminded her
"You just had a medical abortion. Although the process is not complicated, you need to rest and cannot get out of bed."
She was stunned.
What, a miscarriage?
They were clearly speaking Chinese, and she could hear every single word clearly.
But when these words were put together, she couldn't understand what they meant.
"What did you say?"
Her throat was hoarse.
The nurse kept her eyes down and didn't repeat herself.
He simply tucked the blanket around her and turned to leave.
Chu Wuyang suddenly reached out and grabbed the nurse's wrist.
"You mean... I've lost my baby?"
Her voice was extremely soft, trembling as if her soul had been ripped from her body.
But his eyes were fixed on the other person, and a chilling aura rose from the depths of his pupils.
The nurse paused for a moment, then lowered her eyes and answered.
"The doctors here are the old man's private team, and everything is arranged by him."
"Your body is very weak right now, it's best not to get agitated."
A loud bang reached my ears, as if something had collapsed.
She only drank one cup of tea last night.
I still remember that bittersweet aftertaste clearly.
But now it seems that what was hidden in that cup of tea wasn't tea at all—it was a drug!
The child was taken from her body by someone while she was in a state of delirium!
Her fingertips began to grow cold, and her lips turned pale.
Then, she suddenly threw off the blanket, and before her feet even touched the ground, she fell heavily to the ground.
A violent feeling of exhaustion swept over me.
It felt like someone was cutting my body open piece by piece and then forcefully hollowing out my heart.
She leaned against the cold floor, her fingers trembling.
A low growl, as if trying to squeeze a sound from between his bones.
"Who gave you permission to touch my child?!"
A steady sound of footsteps came from outside the door.
Mr. Jin walked in, dressed in an elegant dark Tang suit, his expression dignified and composed.
Seeing her kneel down in a sorry state,
Not surprised,
He simply stood there with his hands behind his back, looking down at the viewer.
"What? Since you've already decided to leave, you should give up everything."
He said calmly, a calculating glint in his eyes.
"This child should never have been born,"
"You and Jingmin should break up completely. After he returns to the Jin family, countless women will have children for him."
"You're insane—who do you think you are!"
Chu Wuyang gritted her teeth, her eyes red-rimmed, her voice filled with the pain of flesh being torn apart, and suddenly lunged forward, grabbing his hem.
"This is my child. What does he have to do with your Kim family?"
