Chu Wuyang leaned against the headboard, swiping her phone screen with her fingers.
The screen was filled with calls from Jingmin, one after another.
She was just about to call back when her phone vibrated.
It's Jingmin.
She hesitated for a moment, but still answered the call.
"Yangyang, why aren't you answering the phone? What happened?"
Jingmin's voice was urgent and fearful, carrying a clearly suppressed emotion.
"I'm already at the villa entrance. Come out, I'll come and take you back."
Chu Wuyang suddenly tensed up.
She instinctively touched her lower abdomen, but couldn't feel anything.
A chill ran through my fingertips, and it felt like a gash had been torn open in my heart.
She couldn't let him know.
We can't leave now either.
"Jin Xian's body is not completely out of the doctor's care yet, so I'm a little worried."
She tried to keep her tone calm.
Jingmin immediately replied,
“I have the best medical team, I’ll send them over—”
"It's not good for the patient to move around too much, so don't make him move around."
She interrupted him softly.
"It's really nothing, don't worry."
The other side fell silent.
After a moment, he lowered his voice and asked,
"Yangyang... are you still angry with me?"
Chu Wuyang was stunned, thinking he was referring to Jin Xian.
To be honest, although Old Master Jin was the mastermind behind Jin Xian's affair, Jing Min was also involved.
She also felt guilty towards Jin Xuan.
Because at this point she no longer blamed Jingmin at all, but only felt that he had also been manipulated.
She wanted to separate this man from those despicable conspiracies into two separate worlds.
But it's impossible in reality.
The Jin family is relentlessly attacking them.
Therefore, she had no choice but to abandon him, to scheme for him to leave, and to push him to face those people in order to completely resolve the issue.
Of course she knew that,
If he gets involved in the Jin family's power struggle for the throne, he'll be lucky to escape with his life.
She agreed to Old Master Jin's request without even knowing if Jing Min would survive.
Because she was selfish, she became afraid and backed down.
She didn't have the courage to share his hardships; her heart was filled with too many people and things. She couldn't be selfish and only care about their own happiness.
"No, I'm not angry."
There was another silence on the other end of the phone, as if they were preparing something.
"Then why don't you come out to see me?"
His voice was low, tinged with grievance and trembling with apprehension.
“I’ll be right at the door; a quick meeting won’t stop you from looking after him.”
She was choking back tears, but when she heard him say that, she couldn't help but chuckle softly.
As I laughed, tears started streaming down my face.
"I stayed up very late with Jin Xian yesterday and I'm catching up on sleep now."
She yawned, trying to sound casual.
"Can you bear to see me drag my tired body out of bed?"
Jingmin was clearly even more dissatisfied.
"You're not feeling well yourself, yet you're taking care of others? And you're still up so late..."
As he spoke, it seemed he was holding back his blame, only feeling a suppressed heartache.
"Yes, I'm so tired."
She pouted and acted coquettishly.
"Can I catch up on some sleep first?"
There was a two-second silence on the other end of the phone, then Jingmin's voice softened.
"Okay, then I'll go back to the hotel and wait for you."
"I'll come pick you up after you've rested."
"Okay, then I'll hang up?"
Just when I thought it was over, he suddenly spoke.
"Wife...and the kids, are you alright?"
Chu Wuyang was startled, and his fingertips trembled slightly.
This was the first time he had shown such genuine concern for the child since he began to doubt the child's paternity.
She was speechless, feeling as if her heart had been hollowed out, and even breathing hurt.
"Yangyang?"
His voice was clearly urgent.
"You just said you weren't angry... honey,"
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have disbelieved you. I should have covered my eyes and felt with my heart."
"How could I doubt our child... the child I've longed for so long... I was wrong,"
"It's understandable that you're angry with me, but could you... give me a chance to make amends, a chance to apologize to the child in person?"
On the other end of the phone, Chu Wuyang was already crying silently, tears streaming down her face.
She covered her mouth, trying her best not to make a sound.
But her heart felt like it was shattered into pieces.
It turns out that when Jingmin mentioned not getting angry, he meant the child.
Unfortunately... it's too late, it's all too late to say anything.
Jingmin realized it too late.
The child... she lost.
She had taken it upon herself to fall into Mr. Jin's trap; she had been too arrogant.
It was practically delivered to my door automatically.
The child's death was largely due to her carelessness.
But she really couldn't tell him that the baby was gone.
If we tell Jingmin, all our efforts will be in vain.
The child sacrificed himself in vain. Who will he seek justice for all that Jin Xian has suffered?
So we can't stop; we have to grit our teeth and keep going.
Only when Jingmin successfully returns to the Jin family can the child's revenge be avenged, and only then can everyone live in peace.
"Jingmin..."
She choked back a sob.
"I'm really sleepy, let me sleep for a while, okay..."
"good."
She gently hung up the phone, but tears dripped onto the back of her hand.
