The air in the office seemed to freeze.
Jing Min sat in his office chair, his gaze fixed on his phone, his fingertips tapping the edge of the screen.
The phone was dialed again and again.
But no one answered the phone.
His expression grew increasingly cold.
Yan Zhou stood to one side, looking at his dark expression, and hesitated for a long time.
I still forced myself to speak.
“Mr. Jing, if... it really was Miss Chu’s momentary oversight that she accidentally lost the treatment report... it’s not difficult to remedy the situation.”
He chose his words carefully and spoke in a gentle tone.
"We could contact her and have her issue a clarification, stating that the document was not leaked officially, was only a preliminary treatment record, and was not implemented, nor did it involve any specific diagnosis or decision-making basis... This might preserve her reputation and minimize external damage."
Yan Zhou spoke tactfully and considerately—President Jing trusts Miss Chu so much, and the two are husband and wife, sharing both honor and disgrace.
At this moment, he really didn't want to make malicious assumptions.
Regardless of the circumstances, the most important thing for the group right now is to stabilize the relationship with shareholders and manage public opinion, no matter how the report was released.
The priority is to resolve the immediate crisis.
Jing Min seemed lost in thought, as if he hadn't heard anything.
He continued tapping on his phone case, his expression unchanged, and he remained silent.
Neither denying nor agreeing.
Mingxiu, who had been standing silently to the side, couldn't hold back any longer.
What does "accidentally lost" mean?
"Such a crucial report is more believable if it was lost accidentally or while the person was sleepwalking. I think that woman did it on purpose."
Yan Zhou turned around abruptly to look at him, but it was too late to stop him.
Mingxiu seemed to have been suppressing her feelings for a long time; once she started speaking, she couldn't stop.
"It's not like she hasn't betrayed President Jing before. The incident with Zhou Heng isn't long ago, and now she's run into this kind of thing again. With her cunning... I'd believe it if you said she was the mastermind behind this crisis!"
Before the words were even finished, the temperature in the office seemed to plummet.
Jing Min had been keeping his brows furrowed and remained silent.
At that moment, he suddenly raised his eyes, his gaze as cold as a knife, sweeping straight over.
That one glance was chilling to the bone.
Mingxiu's face froze instantly, before she could even react.
Yan Zhou quickly pushed him out.
"Get out! What nonsense are you spouting!"
He scolded in a low voice.
"You just got back, and you still haven't learned to shut up!"
The door closed, and silence finally returned.
Yan Zhou dared not mention Miss Chu's matter again, but only gently reminded her...
"President Jing, regarding the shareholders' meeting... the time is—"
Jing Min stood up, picked up his coat from the back of the chair, and spoke in a cold, low voice.
"postpone"
"postpone?"
Yan Zhou was stunned, then panicked.
"But this meeting is crucial for the board's next round of decisions. If we miss today, the funding shortfall will immediately become apparent, and the impact on the company will be—"
He hadn't finished speaking when
Jing Min strode out of the office, his back heavy with emotion, without pausing for a moment.
Yan Zhou stood there, his face full of melancholy.
President Jing is being incredibly frivolous right now.
The car door had just closed and the engine hadn't even been started when Jingmin's phone rang.
He glanced at the screen, his brow furrowing instantly – it was Old Master Jin.
He answered the phone with a cold expression.
"Jingmin,"
The aged and dignified voice of Old Master Jin came from the other end.
"You're becoming more and more frivolous, even standing up the board of directors?"
Jing Min scoffed coldly.
"You're well-informed. It seems your henchmen hiding around me are active again."
"Remember to tell them to hide well. If I'm in a bad mood, I'll take it out on them first."
I had just instructed Yan Zhou to postpone the meeting when Old Master Jin found out.
He didn't believe that the old fox hadn't arranged for someone to keep an eye on him.
"What? Judging from your tone, did you and Miss Chu have another falling out?"
Mr. Jin spoke with a relaxed tone, as if he were just casually mentioning it.
Jing Min didn't reply, but his Adam's apple bobbed.
A soft sigh came from the other end.
"As expected, emotions can ruin a person's life."
His tone was unhurried, carrying a hint of pity from someone in a high position.
"To be honest, I really miss the time a few years ago when I first rescued you from that ship."
"Back then, you had no weaknesses; you were decisive and flawless."
"I really think you're very promising. You've achieved something that others can't even do in their entire lives at such a young age..."
"What a pity..."
He shook his head and sighed.
"Later, for a woman who didn't love you at all, you were willing to stop and even destroy your own armor."
Jingmin's eyes were indifferent.
"Stop spouting nonsense!"
Old Master Jin paused for a moment, then suddenly laughed.
"You and Miss Chu are really alike; you even say the same things."
Jing Min narrowed his eyes.
"She contacted you?"
As if he had finally waited for this moment, Mr. Jin answered slowly.
"You guessed it, didn't you?"
"What exactly are you trying to say?"
Grandpa Jin sighed, his tone tinged with regret.
"She did contact me; she contacted me on her own initiative."
"She said she wanted to cooperate with me, and her goal was simple—to leave you with nothing."
She said that this way she could finally get rid of you completely.
The carriage was deathly silent.
Jingmin closed his eyes briefly, his chest rising and falling gently.
No matter how well he suppressed it, the slight tremor in his fingertips still betrayed his emotions.
You think I believe you?
His voice remained calm, but every word seemed to be chilled by ice.
Believe it or not, my words don't count; the facts speak for themselves.
Jingmin's tone suddenly turned cold and sharp.
"Last time, their attempt to sow discord about the child's identity failed, so this time they're using the same old tricks, just a different tactic."
