At the red light intersection, Chu Wuyang felt both irritable and nervous.
I wonder if Li Yan has arrived at the hotel yet.
They should have arrived by now, after all this time.
Jingmin has an emotional disorder; he should be fine once he calms down.
Thinking this way, she felt a little relieved.
She stared at the blindingly red traffic light in front of her, her fingers lightly tapping the steering wheel.
The knuckles tapped on the leather, producing a faint, rapid, and uneasy "tap-tap" sound.
It felt like an irregular heartbeat.
Yang Jinchu, in the passenger seat, leaned back, her face so pale it was almost transparent.
Chu Wuyang subconsciously glanced at him—this glance made her heart skip a beat.
His face was as white as a sheet of paper.
His thin lips were pressed tightly together, his forehead was covered in fine beads of sweat, and even his eyelashes seemed to be stuck together as if damp.
He looked like he was about to faint.
“Ah Jin…”
She called out softly.
He did not respond.
She frowned, a sense of tension welling up inside her.
His tapping on the steering wheel grew increasingly frantic, and unease spread from his fingertips along his arms to his entire chest.
Damn, why is the red light so long?
Just then, a piercing "bang" came from behind.
It felt like a heavy object had suddenly crashed into a hard barrier, making her tremble slightly.
She subconsciously glanced in the rearview mirror—
The traffic behind them gradually slowed down, and several people hurriedly got out of the car.
Some people ran to the roadside, while others frantically patted their phone screens.
Soon, the sound of an ambulance siren could be heard in the distance; almost in the blink of an eye,
The red light intersection began to fall into a semi-paralyzed state.
"What happened? Was there a car accident?"
She murmured,
I squinted at the back of the car; the ambulance lights flashed a jumble of red and white light on the car window.
But her attention remained focused on Yang Jinchu.
Time is of the essence; any further delay could really lead to disaster.
She gritted her teeth, and the next second after the horn pierced her eardrums...
He abruptly turned the steering wheel—and took a detour to leave.
As the car drove away from the intersection, the chaos and noise were gradually left behind.
Chu Wuyang gripped the steering wheel with both hands, his knuckles turning white.
She stared at Yang Jinchu's deathly pale face.
A strange sense of anxiety spread through her chest; she didn't understand why she was so agitated, and her heart suddenly started racing.
It felt as if even the air itself was oppressing her.
She assumed it was because she was worried about Yang Jinchu's current condition and wanted to get to the hospital as soon as possible.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw in the rearview mirror that the accident scene was already crowded and chaotic, and traffic was completely paralyzed.
But she didn't think much about the sudden traffic accident.
I didn't check the rearview mirror again.
The car drove away smoothly, completely unaware that the "bang" sound was from Jingmin's car hitting a roadside stone pillar.
She didn't know that he had chased after her despite being dizzy and disoriented.
She had no idea that the ambulance siren was sounding for him.
At this moment, all she wanted was to get Yang Jinchu to the hospital as quickly as possible—no, she had to get him there as quickly as possible.
We can't let anything happen to him.
Meanwhile, the scene of the car accident had descended into brief chaos.
Jingmin's car crashed hard into a roadside stone pillar.
The windshield was cracked with spiderweb-like patterns, the bumper was deformed, and smoke was billowing from under the hood.
The air was filled with a pungent, burnt smell.
The passenger-side airbag deployed.
Jing Min, who was in the driver's seat, was thrown out by inertia without any warning, and his forehead hit the edge of the steering wheel, causing blood to ooze out instantly.
"Bang--"
The car door was suddenly pulled open from the outside.
"There's someone inside! Come quick, help!"
Passersby rushed over, some filmed videos, and others dialed 120 (emergency services).
Some people even leaned into the car to try and help him out.
"Sir! Wake up!"
Jing Min's eyelids twitched; blood was streaming from his head, staining his elegant white shirt crimson.
There were several scratches and glass marks next to the wound, mixed with sweat and blood, which looked shocking.
His hand was still on his chest, his heart pounding so hard it felt like it was going to explode.
My ears were ringing, and everything around me felt like bubbles were bursting.
Only a fleeting white car silhouette remained in his mind's eye—it was Chu Wuyang's car, which drove away without hesitation.
He didn't even glance back!
His lips moved slightly, his breathing labored and weak.
"Yang...Yangyang..."
No one could hear what he was saying.
"Don't...go..."
This time, he used almost all his strength to utter those two words.
His voice was hoarse, like despair seeping from a pool of blood.
The passerby who was supporting him panicked and quickly helped him up as he continued to slide down.
"Hey, hey, hey, don't fall asleep! Sir, you can't sleep! You can't close your eyes now!"
Jing Min's vision had already blurred into a sea of blood and blinding white light; only the figure at the back of the car could be seen receding into the distance.
It was like peeling away from his life bit by bit.
He instinctively reached out to chase after him.
His movements were hampered by his blood-soaked shirt, and he swayed precariously.
Just then, his phone vibrated and fell out of his pocket.
"Li Yan?"
A quick-thinking passerby immediately picked up their phone and glanced at the name flashing on the screen.
Press the answer button.
"Hello? Hello, this gentleman has been in a car accident!"
"He has a head injury that looks quite serious, and he's not fully conscious right now—are you his friend?"
"He's getting ready to get into the ambulance, hurry!"
