Chapter 387 News of the Engagement

Although Chu Wuyang did not pay special attention, news about the Jin family swept across global media almost everywhere.

Internal strife, assassinations, and kidnappings unfolded one after another, plunging the entire family into an endless bloodbath.

Every time she overheard such news, her heart would involuntarily tighten.

I was afraid that the name "Jing Min" would suddenly appear in those reports of deceit and bloodshed.

Over the past year, she has been almost unable to maintain a normal work and life.

Fear is ever-present.

Like an invisible net, it trapped her, and she spent every day tormented by worry.

The entire Jin family began to teeter on the brink of collapse, and the global capital markets seemed to be walking on thin ice, proceeding with extreme caution.

What is worrying is that if the Kim family is truly wiped out completely, it will not be just the demise of one family.

Rather, it was a violent shock that shook the global economy.

Chu Wuyang sat up straight on the sofa, staring blankly at the news scrolling on the TV screen.

The details of the internal power struggle within the Kim family, the plummeting stock price of the company, the urgent interpretations by foreign media… she seemed like an observer outside the storm.

It was as if their souls were held captive by the storm, unable to move.

At this moment, the door was pushed open, and Yang Jinchu walked in, looking dusty.

He saw Chu Wuyang watching the news about the Jin family again, and his brows furrowed immediately. He walked over and turned off the TV without hesitation.

"Yangyang, stop looking."

His tone was gentle.

Chu Wuyang didn't object to his turning off the TV, but stared blankly at the suddenly black screen and asked,

"What brings you back?"

Yang Jinchu: "Did you not eat properly again today?"

Yang Jinchu was also extremely busy during this period.

The upheaval in the Kim family has affected the lifelines of countless industries, especially the Yang family's overseas investment chain, which has been almost entirely impacted.

He was constantly on edge, as if he were rushing to a fire scene.

Yang Jinchu looked at her with a complex yet gentle gaze. He didn't say anything, but simply nodded slightly, signaling to his assistant behind him.

The assistant quickly came in carrying an exquisitely packaged box and carefully placed it on the coffee table.

Yang Jinchu opened the box himself, and a warm, sweet fragrance immediately filled the air—

It was a bowl of freshly cooked tofu cheese. The milky white surface was carefully shaped into a white camellia, with layers of petals, soft and crystal clear. A small sprig of golden osmanthus was also placed in the center. The steam carrying the light fragrance swirled up, and the color was simple yet exquisite, like a work of art.

The maid happened to walk by, and her eyes lit up when she saw the bowl of cheese. She couldn't help but praise it.

"Oh my, sir, you are so thoughtful. You know that Miss didn't eat much at noon, so you bring such beautiful pastries as soon as you come back."

"Quick, miss, try it! Doesn't it taste just as good as it looks?"

Yang Jinchu smiled, pushed the bowl in front of Chu Wuyang, and said in a relaxed tone,

"Eat something, stop watching the news all the time, you're ruining yourself."

The assistant chimed in from the side.

"Yes, Miss Chu, Mr. Yang drove two hours to buy this. The pastry shop is far from the company, and the limited edition is hard to book. Mr. Yang knows that you like cheese, so he went there himself."

"I was afraid it would get cold on the way, so I wrapped it in my coat."

Yang Jinchu didn't speak, but simply lowered his head and gently tucked a stray lock of her hair behind his ear, smiling as he pointed at the cheese.

"It's still warm, have a taste."

His eyes were as gentle as spring water, and for a moment they seemed to rise a few degrees along with the temperature in the room.

Chu Wuyang took a bite. The taste was delicate and soft, with a subtle bean fragrance in the sweetness, like a gentle flavor that could melt on the tip of the tongue in one bite.

She looked up at Yang Jinchu, her eyes crinkling into a smile: "Very good."

Yang Jinchu saw a rare smile on her face, but his heart sank even further.

She's been very well-behaved lately, not saying much, like a doll hidden in a glass case, so quiet it's heartbreaking.

He knew she had just been suppressing her feelings for too long and was afraid she might break down at any moment.

"Didn't we say we were going to Switzerland last time? Let's really go this time."

He spoke in a low voice, as if testing the waters.

Chu Wuyang put down the spoon, her fingers still resting on the rim of the bowl.

"Oh? Aren't you very busy?"

Yang Jinchu smiled, picked up a tissue, and wiped away a little bit of cheese from her lips.

“I’m not so busy now. If I can’t get away at the last minute, Ahe can accompany you.”

"Ahe has returned to China?"

She opened her eyes wide in surprise.

"Yes, she came back because she was worried about you, so—"

Yang Jinchu paused, then looked up at her.

"Please get better soon, okay?"

Chu Wuyang forced a smile, but her eyes betrayed her weariness.

"What's wrong? Why do you make it sound like something serious has happened?"

"Isn't it good the way I am now?"

Looking at her noticeably thinner figure, Yang Jinchu swallowed hard, but finally spoke.

"Yangyang, put him down, okay?"

His tone was gentle, yet every word was direct.

"Let's go out and explore more; the scenery outside is beautiful too."

"It's okay if you don't accept me right now, I can wait patiently, but—don't dwell on the past anymore, okay?"

Chu Wuyang's eyelashes trembled, but she didn't say anything.

Looking at her silent expression, as if she had made up her mind, Yang Jinchu slowly spoke.

"Yangyang, you and him... are in the past. It's impossible to go back to the way things were."

"The Jingmin of today is not the Jingmin of the past, and your future together is impossible."
