Chapter 421 Intentional

Only when the door closed did she finally let out a long breath, and the emotions she had been holding back all night finally began to loosen.

Her feelings for Jingmin were complex—she wanted to make amends, but she also had her own bottom line.

But once that line is crossed, it's not just a betrayal of oneself.

It also harms another innocent woman.

She knew that regardless of whether she knew about it last night or whether she had no choice, the result was the same—she had hurt Mo Sangyu.

The thought of this made her feel hot and restless all over.

She already suspected there was something wrong with yesterday's wine, but she didn't know at which point it had been switched. Now she was going to go to the security room to check.

She rubbed her temples, forcing herself to calm down, and dialed Jian Zhou's number first.

"Yangyang, are you done with your business?"

Jian Zhou's voice was as clear and melodious as ever.

As she walked downstairs, she asked:

"What's up?"

"Well... when I went to your room to find you, it was Mr. Jing who opened the door."

Jian Zhou lowered his voice, as if afraid of saying the wrong thing.

"He also asked me to buy a set of women's clothing, saying you might need it... Weren't you guys discussing a collaboration? Is the discussion not going too well?"

He asked the last question cautiously, as if trying to gauge her emotions.

Chu Wuyang paused, taking a sharp breath.

—He did it on purpose!

He deliberately called Jian Zhou over, as if afraid others wouldn't know what it meant for him to appear in her room so early in the morning, and even personally ordered her to buy clothes.

What kind of collaboration could lead to needing to change clothes?

Her throat tightened, and just as she was about to speak, Jian Zhou's hesitant voice came from the other end of the phone.

"Yangyang, are you alright? I think Mr. Jing is quite a refined person. Don't get too excited, speak slowly."

Chu Wuyang's head throbbed with pain.

From Jian Zhou's tone, she could tell that he hadn't misunderstood anything; at most, he just thought their conversation had ended badly and that's why he needed to change clothes after spilling the juice.

—That's fine too.

At least she still maintained some dignity in front of Jian Zhou.

She didn't want people to think that she was willing to give up her body for business.

"...I'm fine."

Her voice trailed off, overcome with exhaustion, and she couldn't say anything else for a moment.

As Chu Wuyang walked downstairs, she glanced at her watch and asked in a calm tone,

"That wine yesterday...we drank the same one, didn't we?"

Jian Zhou didn't think much of it and answered promptly.

"Yes, I poured all your drinks, and they're exactly the same as mine. What's wrong, Yangyang? What are you suspecting?"

Chu Wuyang pursed her lips and smiled.

"It's nothing, it's just that my alcohol tolerance seems to be a bit low lately. I was wondering where that liquor came from, it's so strong?"

Jian Zhou laughed out loud on the other end of the phone.

"Those ordinary wines at the club, you usually can handle them, right? Looks like you really can't anymore."

After the call ended, Chu Wuyang's face instantly turned cold.

She was pretty sure that the problem wasn't with the wine, but with the glass.

She hurried down the corridor to the monitoring room, and as soon as she entered, she asked, barely containing her anger.

"I need the hallway surveillance footage from last night, from 9:30 to 10:30."

A staff member turned around and stopped her with a troubled expression.

"Ms. Chu, I'm sorry, there was a sudden power outage around 9:40 last night."

"Because the equipment lost power, all the monitoring data was formatted and cannot be recovered for the time being."

"power failure?"

Chu Wuyang's eyes darkened.

"Only our clubhouse is experiencing a power outage?"

The staff member shook his head.

"No, the whole street is shut down."

"We tried calling to borrow backup power but couldn't get any; even the mall was completely dark."

Her gaze turned cold, her mind racing: The entire street? Without even a backup power source?

The timing is too coincidental; it's so coincidental that it makes one suspicious.

She suppressed her anger and continued to press for answers.

"What about the elevator? It malfunctioned when I went downstairs last night for the same reason?"

The staff member nodded.

"Yes, it was a malfunction. Due to a sudden power outage, the elevator system was also restarted, and many guests called the front desk at the time."

Chu Wuyang gritted her teeth.

"Why didn't anyone answer the front desk when I called last night?"

The staff members exchanged glances, and one of them answered reluctantly.

"We did not receive a record of your call... However, there was signal jamming for about ten minutes last night."

"Signal jamming?"

Chu Wuyang's gaze suddenly sharpened.

Another, older staff member immediately added an explanation,

"Here's the thing—we just hired an outsourcing company to upgrade our communication equipment a few days ago, and we sent out an internal notice. Yesterday, when the technicians were debugging it, the signal did indeed intermittently drop. It wasn't just you; other rooms also reported this."

Each explanation is reasonable, and the data is indeed traceable.

But the more reasonable it seemed, the more annoyed Chu Wuyang became!

No wonder Jingmin thought she had deliberately arranged all of this to seduce him.

She gave a self-deprecating laugh, her face gradually darkening.

The thought of him coldly mocking her for seducing him in this way made her furious, and she couldn't suppress it.

She gritted her teeth and clenched her fist.

Unfortunately, she doesn't even have any evidence to prove her innocence.

Jingmin's car slowly came to a stop outside the villa.

Hearing the noise, Mo Sangyu immediately looked up, a hint of undisguised excitement flashing in her eyes. She almost ran to the entrance, pushed open the door with a bang, a smile on her lips, her voice light and cheerful.

"Ah Min, you're back?"

Jing Min calmly opened the car door, glanced at her indifferently at the sound, his eyes cold, and didn't reply.

Instead, he turned around and casually closed the car door, his movements as elegant and efficient as ever.

Mo Sangyu stood at the door, her smile freezing for a moment.

He took out his phone to check the time, and asked in a casual tone...

"What's up with the phone call?"

She bit her lip, looking a little aggrieved.

"You got drunk yesterday and didn't come home all night... I was a little worried, so I called you twice, but you didn't answer."

Are you busy with work?

Jing Min remained noncommittal, his tone colder than his eyes.

"You know I have business calls, yet you keep calling me?"

Mo Sangyu's expression changed slightly.

"...I just wanted to ask if you're going to reply or not—"

He looked up, his voice low and hoarse, yet making no attempt to hide his displeasure.

"Is this question worth calling a third time after my call was interrupted?"

Mo Sangyu's fingers tightened, her knuckles turning slightly white, her initial joy completely turning into panic.

"I'm sorry, I... I was just worried about you..."

"Um."

Jing Min gave a nonchalant reply and stepped into the entryway, but stopped abruptly as he went up the stairs.

Mo Sangyu thought he had something to say, but to her surprise, he only spoke impatiently.

When are you going back to the chiefdom?
