Chapter 423 Liquidation

Chu Wuyang had just pushed open the office door and hadn't even sat down properly when his assistant hurriedly handed him a stack of documents.

"Mr. Chu, this is the latest news on the participants from the last Chamber of Commerce meeting."

She lowered her head and flipped through a few pages, her face growing colder and colder.

The documents were as thick as a wall.

But the sentiments were remarkably consistent—almost everyone sided with Jing Min.

The last page of the document clearly lists the project names, almost all of which are core industries that she currently controls, but which Jing Min specifically named as "intending to acquire".

She gritted her teeth and closed the file.

This is clearly a trap.

Not handing it over?

Waiting for him to launch a hostile takeover, causing the cash flow to dry up and resulting in even greater losses.

Hand it over?

After the patch was applied, the industry shrank, and there was no chance of a comeback.

"Whether you stick your neck out or not, you'll still get stabbed..."

She murmured something, then raised her eyes with a cold smile.

My phone vibrated; it was Chu Xi calling.

Chu Wuyang's eyes were still fixed on the thick stack of documents, but his finger had already swiped to answer the call.

"You received it too, right?"

Her voice was dry, but she forced herself to remain calm.

Chu Xi sighed on the other end of the phone, her voice sounding exhausted.

"Yes, his assistant has already informed us of the specific time."

Chu Wuyang's heart suddenly tightened.

That scoundrel.

He even arranged this step for her.

It wasn't just about forcing her to give up the project; his advance notice completely cut off her chances of finding overseas partners to bail her out and prevented her from transferring any form of assets.

One fatal blow, leaving no chance of survival.

She gritted her teeth, mentally unleashing a barrage of punches at Jing Min, feeling like she was about to explode.

Five years.

Over the past five years, she has poured all her energy into these projects, which are not only her career but also the last lifeline for her and the Chu family.

Now they divide it up as they please, destroy it as they please, leaving not a shred of dignity.

She had considered giving up, but this was no longer a simple matter of interests; it was a memory left by her father, and also her own unwillingness to accept defeat.

Chu Xi on the other end of the phone seemed to sigh; her voice was low and hoarse.

“Yangyang, if Jingmin really wants it… then give it all to him. These things originally belonged to him, so it’s like returning them to their rightful owner.”

Chu Wuyang was suddenly stunned.

She knew that Chu Xi wasn't without ideas, but she had endured for too many years and couldn't hold on any longer.

The Chu family is no longer as glorious as it once was.

She desperately kept the external production lines afloat, while Chu Xi carried the empty shell of the family business. Over the years, she had been worn down to the point of exhaustion.

With Chu Yao inside, the entire Chu family was practically clinging to life.

Now that Jingmin wants it, they're caught in a dilemma: they can't give it to him, and they can't refuse him either.

"But if it's just for revenge, then it would be fine to target only me."

Her eyes were fixed on the documents, and she whispered...

Why did he destroy the Chu family as well?

She saw the traces of those businesses being gradually carved away, and knew clearly that once these things left,

The Chu family struggled to even make ends meet.

There was a moment of silence on the other end.

Then Chu Xi slowly spoke.

"Yangyang, do you think Jingmin... is a vengeful person?"

"Of course."

She blurted it out without hesitation.

He's stingy, vengeful, sharp-tongued, and hard-hearted.

He must know everything she did, and he must have guessed that she had her reasons, but he never talks about it.

Didn't he say, "Isn't a betrayal with a reason not a betrayal?"

Absurd and rigid reasoning, black and white.

He has a career and power now, yet he still clings to her relentlessly, as if he wants her to pay with her life.

Isn't this considered holding a grudge?

But on the other end of the phone, Chu Xi said slowly,

“Yangyang, people change. If it were the old Jingmin, he might not have actually taken action, but the current Jingmin… I can’t say for sure.”

He paused, his voice becoming somewhat deep.

"Do you think a man who can climb out of the den of wolves and snakes like the Jin family is still the same stubborn young master he used to be?"

"We simply cannot see how dark his mind is now."

"Perhaps he has become the kind of person you least want to face."

Chu Wuyang listened without offering any rebuttal.

She had already experienced Jing Min's wickedness firsthand.

He managed to get her drunk, take advantage of her, and then conveniently shirk responsibility by saying, "She seduced me," without batting an eye. He was utterly shameless.

The Jingmin of the past, at least, still had some humanity and principles. He would never do something as degrading as cheating.

But the Jingmin of today is no longer the man she remembers.

Chu Xi analyzed on the other end of the phone,

"If it were me, and I had been wronged like that by a woman, I would do everything I could to make her wish she were dead."

Chu Wuyang jolted, her fingers trembling slightly, her voice strained.

"You also think...he'll kill me?"

Chu Xi: "..."

Even Chu Xi thought he could do it!

Chu Wuyang's heart sank, and the scene in the hotel room that day suddenly flashed into her mind.

There was indeed murderous intent in his eyes, and she was genuinely afraid as he approached her step by step. But in the end... he didn't actually make a move.

She tried to comfort herself by thinking that Jingmin wasn't that kind of person. He wouldn't really hurt her.

But now even outsiders think that Jing Min must have killed her.

There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone, followed by a low sigh.

“Yangyang, listen to your brother—these businesses are just external possessions; once they’re gone, they’re gone.”
