Chu Wuyang had just loosened his palm when
Jing Min then slowly added a sentence.
"Not enough."
Her brow twitched.
"What's not enough?"
Can't you just say it all at once?
Jingmin's tone was languid, as if he were patiently explaining.
"Your chips are not enough."
Chu Wuyang rolled her eyes, her tone revealing her annoyance.
"Then what else do you want?"
He remained calm and composed, his voice low and measured, as if slowly and deliberately disassembling a mechanism.
"If I remember correctly... I made three requests that day."
"This is just one of them."
He paused, his tone suggesting admiration.
"I'm very pleased that you agreed so readily."
That's a joke.
She clearly used an extremely strained tone on purpose. Was he hard of hearing, or was he selectively deaf?
"You're raising the price on the spot; you clearly said it was possible."
Jing Min didn't try to renege; his voice remained calm.
That's right.
"But have you forgotten that I said other things that day?"
I knew this jerk wouldn't be so easy to deal with.
Chu Wuyang gritted her teeth, suppressing her anger.
"I've said it so many times, I will never be your mistress, I will never, absolutely never!"
There was a few seconds of silence on the other end.
Jing Min's voice trembled as if it carried a hint of probing and confirmation.
"You mean... as long as she's not a mistress, it's okay?"
Damn it, she knew he was still up to no good and was plotting to make her his concubine.
This is even worse than a mistress!
At least a mistress has her own freedom, but a concubine? She's tied to his side like a leash.
She won't do it!
"I said no, and that means no. It's not about you, it's no!"
As soon as he finished speaking,
Chu Wuyang could clearly feel the atmosphere on the other end of the phone suddenly drop.
This was followed by a dull thud.
It sounded like someone had accidentally knocked over a wine glass, followed by a waiter's cautious apology.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Jing, I'll get you a new one right away—"
"roll!"
He gave a cold, angry rebuke.
Chu Wuyang shivered involuntarily, a chill running down her spine.
"Miss Chu, you should think it over carefully. Time is running out; get ready for the reckoning."
What a fickle man! He can turn on you in an instant with just a few words. How could she have had the illusion that he was easy to talk to?
"Mr. Jing, President Jing? Boss Jing, could you...?"
Her voice trailed off, slowly dragging out the tone, as she racked her brains for an excuse to delay.
Hearing no sound from the other end of the phone, she picked up her phone and glanced at it; the call was ongoing…
Thankfully, he didn't hang up immediately.
Chu Wuyang quickly seized the opportunity.
"Didn't you just say you had three requests?"
"And what's the other one? I promise you... I've already agreed to two-thirds of your demands, so could you... give me back two-thirds?"
"..."
About a minute had passed, and Chu Wuyang assumed Jing Min was no longer near the phone.
Who knew he would suddenly speak up?
"How can we reduce it by two-thirds?"
Chu Wuyang was as if she had been struck by a wonderful surprise.
"Ah, that's easy to do,"
She quickly glanced at the list of industries spread out on the table, and picked out a number of traditional sector projects that were not performing well and were in need of rectification.
They were scribbled out as quickly as if they were clearing out inventory.
These projects are already in their "sunset period".
However, its strength lies in its solid foundation and existing reputation, making it appear to be a stable asset on the surface.
She thought to herself that Jing Min had just taken the helm in Haicheng and probably hadn't yet gained a deep understanding of the local market, so he wouldn't have time to thoroughly investigate the project's underlying data.
It's impossible to discover the "problem" immediately.
She added in a rambling, incessant manner as she flipped through the pages.
"Why don't you have your assistant handle things with me?"
"I've already prepared everything here, and I guarantee that what I give you is the 'highest quality' part."
As she flipped through the files, she realized she had quite a few backlogged projects like this, which was usually a real headache.
Take this opportunity to "package and clear out" everything, so you can at least get rid of it cleanly.
She smiled and raised her voice to add,
"Hey, Mr. Jing, I'll just take a loss. You don't need to return the other two-thirds; I'll pack them up and give them to you as a favor! Just leave me the remaining one-third."
