On a weekend night, as the neon lights begin to illuminate the night,
The signboard "Blue Night" at the bar entrance resembles a dormant whale, trembling slightly with blue light in the night.
As Chu Wuyang stepped through the door, a burst of deep bass drumbeats assaulted his eardrums; before he could even adjust...
The phone in my bag started vibrating violently.
She glanced down at the screen; before she could even read the incoming call from an unknown number, she was stunned.
In the corner of my eye, I saw a familiar figure waving and running towards me from the direction of the bar.
"Sister Yangyang!"
Jian Zhou's voice remained exceptionally loud amidst the noise of the crowd, as if its tone had been adjusted, carrying a unique brightness characteristic of youth.
Her fingers paused, she hurriedly hung up the phone, and when she looked up, Jian Zhou was almost in front of her, her eyes crinkling with laughter.
"You look so beautiful today. You don't look like you're here to go clubbing at all; you look like you're here to cause trouble."
Chu Wuyang felt a little uncomfortable from his praise, blinked, and curled the corners of her lips.
Of course, who wouldn't be happy to be complimented on their looks?
She really put in the effort today; she even hired a makeup artist for her makeup.
With her eyes subtly upturned and her lips a soft mauve rose color, she looked radiant yet understated.
Her hair was styled with a slight curl at the ends, and its smooth, jet-black color cascaded down her shoulders, giving it a soft and languid look. The pair of cool-white metal earrings on the side of her neck were simple yet eye-catching, with a thin chain on one side and a flat, round mirror on the other, gleaming with a cool silver light under the lamp, making her face look clean and charming.
She wore a neatly tailored black slip dress, casually draped with a beige blazer, which toned down her overly eye-catching curves, striking a perfect balance between sexiness and aloofness.
Chu Wuyang glanced down at her outfit; it was unusual for a man in his twenties to dress like this.
I still feel a little awkward.
"oh,"
"Just wear whatever."
Jian Zhou hasn't replied yet.
Her phone in her bag started vibrating like crazy again.
This time the tremor was more intense, with three consecutive loud bangs, as if someone was determined to achieve their goal.
Chu Wuyang frowned and subconsciously tightened her grip on her bag.
Jian Zhou noticed it too, glanced down at the direction of her bag, and asked curiously,
Is someone looking for you?
"……fine."
But the phone showed no sign of stopping; instead, it rang even more incessantly.
She considered hanging up, hesitated for a moment, and then answered the call anyway.
"First Dance in the Sun"
Jing Min's cold voice came through.
"You just agreed and now you want to go back on your word?"
Chu Wuyang pulled her coat, which had slipped off her shoulder, tighter.
"Go back on what?"
They never say it directly, always using sarcastic and inexplicable language.
"The second requirement."
His voice was as cold as ice water running down his spine, and his imposing force pierced through the microphone.
"If I tell you to fire someone, you have to fire them. You can't go back on your word."
"Leave that bar now, immediately, right now."
Chu Wuyang's mind went blank for a moment, and she looked around frantically—
The lights were dim, the smell of alcohol mingled with the voices of people, noisy and lively—it didn't seem like a place Jingmin would ever step into.
...It can't be that much of a coincidence, can it?
The only possibility is that he heard background noise on the phone.
That scoundrel has a surprisingly sensitive hearing.
"What are you talking about? What bar?"
She subconsciously wanted to cover it up—partly because she didn't want to cause trouble, and partly... it seemed like she was afraid he would misunderstand?
But she quickly dismissed the idea—what misunderstanding? They had no relationship whatsoever, so what right did he have to interfere?
Ultimately, it's because they're afraid he'll go crazy again and drag others down with him.
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, as if he was trying his best to suppress his emotions.
When he spoke again, his cold laugh was almost dripping with anger.
"I knew you couldn't shake your habit of lying."
"Chu Wuyang, I'm telling you to leave now, and you have to leave. Do you understand?"
This condescending command instantly ignited her anger.
"Why should I do whatever you say? Who are you to me? What right do you have to tell me what to do?"
Chu Wuyang tugged at her coat, her tone turning completely cold.
"I won't."
She didn't give him a chance to reply, and continued to hurl a tirade into the phone in a low voice.
"Trying to threaten me with the company again? Go ahead."
Anyway, she cleared out a bunch of "junk" that day, so it wasn't really worth her having to lower her head and exchange it.
After saying that, she hung up the phone decisively.
Jian Zhou saw that she was clearly upset after hanging up the phone.
Is this a company matter?
Chu Wuyang replied dismissively, somewhat annoyed.
"I suppose so,"
Jian Zhou looked somewhat guilty, rubbed his hands together, and lowered his voice.
"Did I take up too much of your time? I just thought you'd come out and relax because you're usually so busy."
He looked innocent, youthful, clean-cut, and a little flustered, like a sunny college boy who hadn't grown up yet.
Chu Wuyang looked at him and suddenly realized that her tone had indeed been a bit harsh.
He did nothing wrong, yet because Jingmin suddenly went crazy, he's about to lose his job for no reason.
She lowered her eyes and softened her tone.
"It's okay, let's go. Didn't you say you prepared a lot of performances? Today is a rest day, let's relax."
"Hmm... okay,"
Jian Zhou nodded, then asked somewhat uncertainly,
"I don't know if you're used to this kind of atmosphere."
He spoke with a youthful timidity, as if afraid of upsetting her or boring her.
The two walked inside while talking.
The bar was bustling with noise and the interplay of light and shadow. Just as Chu Wuyang stepped onto the edge of the dance floor, his phone suddenly rang again.
She glanced down and saw it was Jing Min calling again. Her eyes darkened, and she hung up immediately.
