On the sixtieth floor, a transparent glass railing separates the entire night, and the bustling terrace restaurant seems like a sky city suspended in mid-air.
String lights hung low in the center, a brazier beside the table cast a warm glow, and a band in the corner played retro funk-pop with a relaxed rhythm.
It's lively yet casual.
Xie Zhaolin leaned back in his armchair, wearing an oversized, street-style color-blocked baseball jacket, a white T-shirt with the hem hanging loosely, a platinum chain around his neck, limited-edition Air Jordan 1s, and a small diamond on his earlobe that sparkled.
They don't look like they're here to discuss cooperation at all.
It's more like they're attending someone's birthday party.
He casually tossed the menu that the waiter had just handed him onto the table.
He raised his hand and gestured towards the band, a flippant smile playing on his lips.
The female guitarist smiled at him.
He immediately raised an eyebrow at her and blew her a kiss.
Then, he slowly turned around.
She looked at Chu Wuyang sitting opposite her.
His tone was languid, and his laughter trailed off.
"Miss Chu, haven't decided what to eat yet?"
"Don't be nervous, this isn't a bidding meeting."
He tapped the corner of the menu with his finger, wiggled it twice, and spoke in a flippant tone.
"Hey, I told you, we're about the same age, don't be so reserved."
"Can I call you... Yangyang?"
Chu Wuyang was taken aback, her brows furrowing slightly, but she did not respond.
After Xie Zhaolin finished speaking, his gaze intentionally or unintentionally swept over the row of pearl buttons on Chu Wuyang's chest. He rubbed his chin with his hand and smiled mischievously.
"You're dressed... quite stylishly, and you have a great figure."
Chu Wuyang's eyes flashed with disgust as she glanced down at her Chanel suit.
A beige knitted cropped cardigan with a fitted silhouette, featuring pale gold pearl buttons on the cuffs, paired with a fishtail skirt, and her hair neatly styled in a clean updo.
She felt like she'd switched to the wrong channel.
The "Xie's Bank Fund Custody Plan" on the table looked rather awkward.
I've been in contact with the head of Xie's Bank for a long time, and today I finally received a reply saying that their young master, who recently returned from abroad, is interested and willing to meet in person.
I never expected it to be like this?
Chu Wuyang felt like she had been tricked.
She took a soft breath.
"Young Master Xie, when would be a convenient time for your father to meet?"
Xie Zhaolin almost burst out laughing when he heard the words "your father."
He put his hand behind him.
He immediately relaxed back in the chair, his tone shifting to a nonchalant one.
"My dad? He's out sailfishing in Florida lately, he'll have plenty of time... too bad you won't get to see him."
He picked up the wine glass on the table with one hand,
He raised his hand towards the band, and the female guitarist smiled at him again.
His laughter became even more blatant.
He poured himself a glass of wine, lowered his head, and sniffed it.
They seemed to be genuinely enjoying their "date" tonight.
"How about this, Yangyang? If you really want to push forward with the cooperation, wouldn't my identity as the 'young master of Xie's Bank' be more useful?"
His gaze returned, and he lazily propped his chin up, his tone half-serious, half-joking.
“We look like a good match. Maybe a marriage alliance would be more reliable than signing an agreement.”
Chu Wuyang had lost patience and put the proposal away.
Xie Zhaolin filled the wine glass in front of Chu Wuyang.
"That's more like it. It would be such a waste to use such a nice atmosphere to talk about work."
He made a gesture.
The waiter then brought over a bouquet of lychee roses, their colors delicate and full, their fragrance filling the table perfectly.
Xie Zhaolin pushed the flowers in front of her as if by magic, his tone light and cheerful.
"This is for you, I just ordered it, it matches what you're wearing today."
As he spoke, he raised his glass again.
"Come on, Yangyang, try this. This wine is really strong. After we finish it, we'll go relax. It'll feel great."
A sly smile played on his lips.
Chu Wuyang paused, her hand holding the bag still, her eyes suddenly turning cold.
"Young Master Xie, you just returned to the country?"
Xie Zhaolin saw that she was willing to talk to him.
His tone became even more familiar and enthusiastic.
"Yes, I saw you as soon as I got back."
"A woman like Miss Chu, who has both beauty and figure, and who has both wealth and status, is someone you'll regret missing out on for the rest of your life."
"Of course, I couldn't wait to come!"
Chu Wuyang chuckled softly, ruffled her hair, revealing her long, slender, and fair swan-like neck.
"Young Master Xie may not be aware of recent events in China,"
Xie Zhaolin stared at the smiling woman before him with adoration.
"If Yangyang is willing to share, I'm all ears."
Chu Wuyang pretended to be helpless and pitiful.
"I don't know if I've been cursed or something lately, but any woman who gets close to me suffers misfortune. People outside are saying I'm unlucky, that I..."
She paused, then forced out half a tear.
The sight of the beautiful woman shedding tears stunned even Xie Zhaolin, a man accustomed to the ways of the pleasure quarters; his voice softened.
"What did I say to you?"
Chu Wuyang covered her face, but through her fingers she saw the man's flustered and distressed expression, and almost burst out laughing.
"You're talking about me, you're a jinx!"
Xie Zhaolin's expression shifted, his face filled with excitement.
"A jinx?"
"Young Master Xie also thinks so?"
Xie Zhaolin stubbornly insisted,
"How can such an absurd statement be made... Those people must have done something wrong in the first place, and they're reaping what they sowed by blaming women. I'm different. I'm a normal person..."
"It's alright, I'm tough, I'm not afraid of you bringing me bad luck."
Chu Wuyang looked sorrowful.
"But... even your father is avoiding seeing you. Perhaps he believes it like those other people?"
