Mo Sangyu's nerves tensed abruptly; Jing Min's tone... was very certain.
Could it be... that he was prepared all along?
But he returned to the country not long after assuming the position of family head.
Logically speaking,
His influence in China is certainly not widespread enough to cover everything.
In fact, not only those he wanted to protect, but he himself should also be facing imminent danger.
She asked tentatively,
"Did you take precautions beforehand?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end, with no response.
He simply changed the subject coldly.
How long will she stay?
Mo Sangyu's hand gripping the phone was so tight that her knuckles turned white, and she only breathed a slight sigh of relief after hearing those words.
Does that mean he still has some reservations and can't do whatever he wants completely?
This also means that he still needs her, for the time being.
She composed herself and answered calmly.
"They said they found a suitable kidney donor here, and from transplantation to post-operative recovery, it will take at least half a month..."
Jing Min cut him off coldly.
"In two weeks, whether she lives or dies, she will have to leave China."
Mo Sangyu's throat tightened, and he replied with difficulty,
"good."
Half a month... is that enough time for him to expand his influence and clear obstacles?
She secretly wondered if she also only had half a month left.
Are you coming back today?
"I won't reply."
Disappointment welled up inside her; she thought he would hang up immediately. But after a moment of silence, his deep voice came through again.
Do you have time to meet today?
A thought flashed through her mind: Was this a collaboration between them for "business"?
She quickly picked up the conversation.
"You have time... Yes, is there something you need?"
Jingmin turned to look at the bedroom door, his tone unhurried.
"There's a misunderstanding that needs your presence to clarify. I'll send you the address in a bit."
"What misunderstanding?"
Jingmin hung up the phone.
He returned to his room, but instead of going to bed immediately, he went to the coffee table and poured himself a glass of water.
Chu Wuyang closed her eyes and pricked up her ears to catch every sound.
After drinking the water... shouldn't we pack up and go home?
Mo Sangyu had already called to urge them on, and the two had talked for quite a while, so they had been comforted as needed.
But after a long time, I didn't hear any sound of the door being opened or anyone changing clothes.
Chu Wuyang had a slight doubt in her heart, so she quietly pulled down the blanket a little and looked through the gap in her eyelashes.
The man turned to the side, holding a white medicine bottle in his palm. He lowered his head, poured out a few pills, and swallowed them with the water he had just drunk.
Chu Wuyang's fingers tightened slightly. Medicine?
What kind of medicine is he taking?
What illness does he have?
After swallowing the pills, the man took out a tube of ointment and a neat bandage from the cabinet.
He paused, then suddenly turned around and looked toward the bed.
Chu Wuyang's heart tightened, and she quickly closed her eyes, breathing very softly.
The man didn't react much, turned around, took the ointment and bandages, and went into the bathroom.
Until the bathroom door is closed,
Chu Wuyang loosened his grip on the white-tinged corner of the blanket.
His neck and head injuries were clearly not fully healed. Since he still needed to take medicine and have his dressings changed, is it really okay for him to be discharged so soon?
A short while later, the bathroom door opened, and Jingmin came out.
He lifted the corner of the blanket and lay down again, his body smelling of fresh herbs.
He reached out and pulled her into his arms, his palms warm, his thin lips gently brushing against her hair, uttering a low murmur.
"Go to sleep, there will be a surprise when you wake up."
His tone was unusually relaxed and light, as if he had finally let go of something in his heart.
Chu Wuyang's eyelashes trembled slightly, and a sudden emptiness filled her chest.
Is his relaxed state due to having appeased his wife?
When I woke up again,
There was no one by the bed anymore, and she breathed a sigh of relief. She didn't want to see him anyway, but she hoped Mo Sangyu could keep him in check.
She moved her stiff body, got up, and went to the bathroom.
When she came out again, she saw the brand-new suit on the sofa. Without thinking much, she picked it up and put it on. The size fit perfectly.
As I finished tidying myself up, picked up my bag, and prepared to leave, I caught a glimpse of two documents on the table out of the corner of my eye.
She paused,
One of the documents had a very prominent and familiar title; it was the one she had tricked Xie Zhaolin into signing.
Didn't Jingmin say it was invalid?
Why bring it up to deliberately humiliate her overestimation of her abilities?
Nothing gets done as long as he gets involved?
Feeling annoyed, I picked it up, ready to throw it straight into the trash can.
Suddenly, she thought of something, opened the book, and flipped directly to the very last page.
Upon closer inspection, the two bold and powerful characters, Jingmin's signature, were so striking they hurt my eyes.
She slammed the door shut.
He opened it again and carefully flipped through it, checking each page. It was indeed her contract, but this was a reprinted copy.
What's the meaning?
Compensation for sleeping with her? Payment for prostitution! ??
Not satisfied with humiliating her yet!
Chu Wuyang clenched the contract tightly, the crumpled paper making a grating sound, as if it were tearing at her heart.
She picked up another contract from the table and took a look; her breath caught in her throat.
A list of assets given to Mo Sanyu.
The list clearly outlines real estate, land deeds, stocks, shares... the amounts of which are staggering.
What's the meaning?
Is this compensation he gave his wife out of guilt after sleeping with her?
The door was pushed open.
Jingmin walked in, his tone nonchalant.
"woke up?"
Chu Wuyang turned around and, without hesitation, threw the documents in her hand at him.
With a "thud," the document hit the air. Jing Min merely turned slightly to the side, and the document fell to the ground without even grazing his clothes.
He had been looking refreshed, but when he saw the resentment in her eyes, his brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.
"Who upset you again?"
How dare you ask?
Chu Wuyang stared at the man in front of her. He was dressed casually, a rare sight, with dark gray trousers and a white cashmere sweater. He looked as handsome and refined as a nobleman who had stepped out of a painting.
But only she knew that he was nothing more than a refined scoundrel disguised in a gentle guise.
The undisguised disgust in her eyes instantly halved Jing Min's good mood.
He bent down to pick up the documents that had fallen to the ground, glanced at them, and then looked down at them.
He composed himself and slowly walked up to her.
His gaze fell on her small face, slightly pale with anger. He feigned composure and stepped forward to tuck a stray strand of hair that had fallen across her forehead behind her ear.
When she dodged him, the man's expression remained unchanged, but his voice softened.
"Are you still angry? Didn't you want this contract?"
He casually smoothed out the document and handed it back to her.
"Here, this is to make it up to you."
Chu Wuyang felt a lump in her throat as she looked at his condescending attitude.
"If you hadn't been interfering, would Mr. Xie and other business leaders have been avoiding me?"
Does she need his charity?
Jingmin looked at her wearing the clothes he had bought, a bright smile appearing on his lips.
"Am I not as important as them?"
Chu Wuyang sneered.
"What do you take me for, some kind of compensation for sleeping with me?"
When will this humiliation he inflicts on her end?
Why does he always find new ways to humiliate her?
