Jing Min's smile vanished, his expression returning to its usual coldness. His icy gaze swept over Li Yan.
"This year's bonus will be halved"
Li Yan looked at the man in front of him, who was dressed in pajamas but inexplicably exuded an imposing aura, and felt intimidated, daring not to voice any objections.
This dereliction of duty is the biggest disgrace of his career. Going to Africa was bad enough, but now his bonus is gone too—hundreds of thousands of dollars have simply vanished.
Jing Min lowered his eyes and scoffed coldly. He hadn't overlooked the person mentioned in the report earlier.
What, he's everywhere?
Moreover, one of the main figures in the murder case seems to have some connection with him.
He'd always been too lazy to bother with these trivial matters; since the woman was gone, so be it—it saved him the trouble.
But Chu Wuyang's hurried departure just now seemed to be for this very reason.
He wanted to go and see what was going on.
I changed my clothes in the dressing room and then went out.
——
In the reception room, several steaming teacups remained on the elegant coffee table; they were left behind by the police officers who had come to investigate the case.
Routine inquiries and investigations will yield results and the case will be closed quickly.
The two deceased were not completely unrelated people.
The hallway video footage shows that the man, attracted by her beauty, approached her, struck up a conversation, and made a deal.
The entire process was voluntary, a fact confirmed by the fat man's entourage.
The very next morning, the woman, still greedy and with unrealistic desires, got into an argument, which escalated to the point that she fell out of the room window, leading to this incident.
The bodyguard at the door also confirmed that he heard the argument, but by the time he tried to intervene, it was too late.
The room is currently occupied only by members of the Chu family and people connected to the case.
On the table were video photos of the case analysis.
The gentle lapping of the waves was drowned out by the silence of the room; everyone was unusually quiet.
Zhou Heng stared at the woman in the photo on the table, her body covered in marks, even bearing the marks of an electric soldering iron. His eyes were filled with scrutiny; it was clearly the result of excessive SM play between the client and the seller.
Those present probably all know that this matter is far more complex than it appears on the surface, but
Now that things have come to this, even the police have closed the case. As the son-in-law of the Chu family, although the marriage brings them both fortune and misfortune, he will also suffer as a result.
He certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to raise objections; it would be best to resolve the issue by minimizing its impact and eliminating any potential problems.
Seeing that everything was alright, he took Chu Huiqing's hand, said goodbye to everyone, and left first.
Yang Jinchu stared at the two figures as they left, then stood up, straightened her clothes, and greeted Chu Yao.
His gaze swept over Chu Wuyang, he hesitated, then said nothing, pushed open the door, and left.
He was summoned because he had some business dealings with that person abroad, and his boarding of the ship was thanks to that person's connections. Apart from that, they weren't really acquainted.
As Yang Jinchu stepped out of the room and turned to close the door, Jing Min and Li Yan walked towards her from the other end of the corridor.
What a clash of titans!
Yang Jinchu remained unfazed, ignoring them without even glancing at them, and Jing Min was no less composed.
Just as the three were about to pass each other,
Jing Min raised his chin slightly, blocking the person's path, and greeted them in a cold tone.
"What a coincidence, I run into Teacher Yang everywhere!"
Yang Jinchu stopped in her tracks, returning the same sharp gaze.
"Indeed, Mr. Jing and I are quite destined to meet. We've always been heading in the same direction, so naturally, the chances of us bumping into each other on this road are higher."
His words were provocative.
It seemed as if invisible gunpowder smoke filled the air.
Jing Min's lips curled slightly downwards, and he said in a disdainful tone.
"I've reached a destination you can never reach. I advise you to change direction! This road is blocked."
The two faced off, neither willing to yield, the other unwilling to back down, like two silent mountains, a war without gunpowder about to erupt.
"Jingmin?"
The door was pulled open from the inside, and Chu Wuyang came out, immediately noticing the strange atmosphere between the two.
The sudden sound, like an ice bead falling to the ground, crisp and cold, shattered the stillness.
Yang Jinchu unconsciously straightened his back, but his expression remained as cold and aloof as ever.
Jing Min seemed to snap out of his daze and looked towards the person at the door.
A smirk played on his lips, and when his gaze returned to the person in front of him, a triumphant, mocking arc had formed.
He stood with his hands in his pockets, leaning back slightly, his posture casual and arrogant. He gave a soft snort, a sound that wasn't loud but was full of mockery.
He stepped aside and strode towards Chu Wuyang.
The moment he moved away, Yang Jinchu didn't hesitate and stepped away.
He didn't look back until his figure disappeared around the corner; his hurried steps seemed resolute.
But the blurry marks left by the fluttering hem of her clothes in the wind suggested a hasty and disheveled escape.
"Still looking?"
The deep, suppressed voice carried obvious displeasure.
Why are you here?
Chu Wuyang asked softly.
It has been confirmed that he has nothing to do with this matter, so I am no longer so resistant to him.
Seeing the person in front of him speaking so patiently, Jing Min's initial anger naturally dissipated.
"Let's see what's going on. Is it all over?"
Chu Wuyang nodded.
"It's all over. If you want to know anything, go inside. Big Brother's here." With that, he turned and left.
Jing Min suddenly grabbed her wrist, and she turned around with a questioning expression.
"Do you think I did it?"
He explained that he had expected her to rush over to confirm it was true, and now that she knew it wasn't, she felt a rare pang of guilt and gave him a kind look.
He had never been genuinely kind to him; the smugness he had shown in front of Yang Jinchu just now had vanished without a trace.
