The dark circles under his eyes looked as if they had been soaked in ink; they seemed to tell the story of countless sleepless nights.
Her eyes were dull and lifeless, listless, like two flickering flames barely burning out, sustained only by a faint glow. A pang of sorrow gripped her heart.
He said in a hoarse voice,
"It's nothing, I've just been a bit busy lately and haven't been sleeping well."
Perhaps influenced by his bitter aura, she didn't utter any cold words.
"It's getting late, if you didn't sleep well, go to bed early."
Receiving no reply, Chu Wuyang stopped looking at him, as if glancing at him for even a moment would make her prone to doing something irrational.
The hissing sound of the hairdryer in the bathroom masked the noises coming from the bedroom outside.
After a while, Chuwu Yangguan put down the hair dryer and heard that it was very quiet outside, so he must have left!
She went outside to check and saw Jing Min reclining on the sofa, eyes closed and motionless, breathing evenly. Chu Wuyang glanced at him and concluded that he was awake.
She was about to lash out, but Jing Min looked perfectly clean and tidy, even his beard was neatly trimmed and spotless.
But he had an overall desolate air about him; his thin body was sunken into the sofa, and his hunched back seemed to be completely crushed by exhaustion.
The harsh words I was about to say just wouldn't come out. Seriously, you're so exhausted, why don't you go home and rest?
Her voice softened unconsciously as she patted his shoulder.
"Go back and rest!" Silence answered her again.
She sighed, looking at him, wondering what he had been doing these past few days to make him so exhausted.
The Jing family has more money than they could spend in several lifetimes; there's no need for them to work so hard.
He didn't have the strength to walk back.
"Let me get someone to help you up!"
As I turned around, my hand was grabbed; the grip wasn't strong, but it was warm.
Jing Min closed his eyes and spoke in a gentle voice.
"Don't go, you go to sleep, I won't disturb you, I'll leave on my own in a bit."
Chu Wuyang raised an eyebrow. She was quite self-aware and didn't try to stay, but perhaps she was just too weak!
Seeing how weak he looked, it was hard to equate him with his previous violent state, so she stopped worrying about it.
Judging from his visibly weak and exhausted appearance, she figured he couldn't even beat her, so she wasn't worried at all. She got into bed, pulled back the covers, and prepared to get some sleep.
