At that moment, a steady footstep sound came, and everyone looked up to see Jing Min striding into the house.
He was wearing a dark suit, the fabric of which was slightly wrinkled, but his posture remained as upright as a pine tree.
Her hair was slightly disheveled, as if blown by the wind, but her face remained calm and serene.
"Who made Grandma so angry?"
He casually put his hands in his pockets, slightly raised his chin, and had a hint of nonchalance in his expression, as if he had just asked a casual question.
When everyone saw Jing Min appear, they all fell silent, trembling with fear.
Old Madam Jiang's expression changed, then she put down her teacup.
Instead of answering, ask a question.
"Why are you back at this hour?"
Jing Min's face broke into a calm smile. He looked around.
"What, you're not welcoming me?"
The question-and-answer session between the grandfather and grandson seemed harmonious, yet it inexplicably carried an eerie atmosphere.
No one else dared to interrupt; they all remained silent, and the atmosphere inexplicably became heavy.
Jingmin casually put his hands in his pockets, strolled over, and stood opposite the old lady.
Seeing this, some people wisely got up and left.
He didn't stand on ceremony and sat down in a very natural and generous manner.
His bright, sharp eyes swept over the people present like a hawk's, his gaze scrutinizing them.
"I am so grateful to know that the elders can come and keep my grandmother company. It would be very impolite of me not to be there."
Madam Jiang remained silent, simply watching Jing Min with an inscrutable expression.
Jingmin wasn't in a hurry. He elegantly picked up the tea offered by the maid and took a small sip.
He squinted slightly, as if savoring the taste of the tea, or perhaps deep in thought.
Then, seemingly casually, he said to the maid:
"Go to the north building and call Madam over as well. All the elders are here; it would be impolite of her to be absent!"
The maid glanced at the old lady with a troubled expression, but didn't move.
Although the other ladies did not speak, their eyes also drifted towards Old Madam Jiang, intentionally or unintentionally.
I kept wondering about the relationship between the grandfather and grandson. It seemed, no, not so harmonious!
But it's also possible that this is how they usually interact, and it's not necessarily that I'm just ignorant...
In silence…
Old Madam Jiang's eyes sharpened, she sat up slightly, and said in a deep voice:
"She's not in the north building!"
After saying that, he felt something was off and added...
"The aunties are having a gathering here, and they went to the north building early this morning to invite her, but she's nowhere to be found."
Jing Min's lips curled up slightly, revealing a faint smile.
It seemed as if everything was under his control.
"Oh? Does Grandma know where she is?"
Old Madam Jiang snorted and said with some displeasure:
"How would I know! Why don't you call and ask yourself?"
Jingmin put down his teacup and looked directly at Madam Jiang.
"Yes, we really should make a call and ask," the tone was full of reproach.
Jing Min dialed the number in front of everyone, and unsurprisingly, the call didn't go through.
Jing Min raised an eyebrow
"Why isn't it working? Does Grandma really not know where she is?"
Madam Jiang turned her head away, no longer looking at Jing Min, and casually sipped her tea.
"I don't care about any of that. You can't find your own wife, so you come here to cause trouble! Maybe you're off having fun somewhere and don't want to talk to me."
Jingmin smiled.
"How could that be? Grandma is always so resourceful, I'm just asking you for help."
After speaking, he squinted and scanned the area.
"Do the elders know about this?"
When they met the scrutinizing gazes, their eyes flickered and they looked away.
They all denied it and shook their heads.
"have no idea…"
Jing Min stood up, casually putting his hands in his pockets, slightly raising his chin, his expression carrying a hint of nonchalance, as if everything was under his control.
"That's strange. I casually asked when I came in, and the security guard said he hadn't seen anyone come out,"
"Alright, you've met the elders, and you won't really connect with us women anyway. Go and get back to work."
"Men should prioritize their careers!"
The last sentence was pronounced with particular emphasis, as if it were a reminder.
Since Old Madam Jiang had already ordered everyone to leave, everyone originally thought Jing Min would obediently leave.
To everyone's surprise, he started strolling around casually, looking around at every corner of the south building.
The space fell silent for a moment…
I don't know who was breathing louder, but it was exceptionally clear.
Jingmin glanced over,
It was Jinghuan's mother. Feeling guilty, she immediately pursed her lips and held her breath.
Jing Min glanced over, his eyes revealing a cold and sinister aura, and uttered only one word.
"you…"
A gentle voice broke in.
“Ah Min,…”
Jing Min looked toward the source of the sound, his brows furrowing slightly.
What are you doing here?
Lin Yuebai was speechless for a moment…
"ah…"
A slightly awkward freeze in his expression
She's always been here.
She had been sitting next to the old lady ever since he entered the room.
So he really didn't notice her, even though she's a grown woman?
Could it be that the color of her dress clashed with the elegant gowns worn by the other ladies?
Of course, this slight neglect couldn't completely defeat Lin Yuebai, who was used to being ignored since childhood. She quickly adjusted her emotions.
"Amin, Yangyang isn't here. He's probably out playing with his friends."
"The aunties came over today, and there were quite a few vehicles coming and going. Maybe the guardhouse didn't notice,"
"Go ahead and do what you need to do. There's no rush. She's a grown woman; she won't get lost. Maybe she'll come back by herself tonight."
"Grandma is old and her health isn't good; she can't sit for too long. She should rest soon."
Old Madam Jiang also looked at her with a gratified expression, her eyes revealing praise, which pleased her greatly.
