Chapter 95 Meeting

The traditional Chinese garden of Chujia is like a tranquil and elegant ink painting.

Sunlight filters through the dappled leaves, casting patterns of light and shadow on the winding path.

The garden is surrounded by streams of various sizes, their waters flowing gently and making a clear, pleasant sound.

A gentle breeze carried the fragrance of flowers and the fresh scent of grass, but it could not dispel the gloom in Chu Wuyang's heart.

After breakfast, Jingmin accompanied Grandpa Chu to play chess, as usual.

Chu Wuyang walked listlessly toward the pear garden, her steps heavy and slow, as if each step carried endless fatigue and worries.

Seeing Chu Wuyang's departing figure, Lin Yuebai's heart tightened, and she quickly chased after him.

She jogged along, her skirt swaying gently with her movements.

"Yangyang, wait a minute."

Lin Yuebai shouted, her voice tinged with urgency.

Hearing the sound, Chu Wuyang ignored it and quickened her pace.

Her brows furrowed, and a hint of disgust flashed in her eyes.

Seeing Chu Wuyang quicken her pace, Lin Yuebai grew even more anxious, so she sped up as well.

Finally, he managed to catch Chu Wuyang at a corner.

She was slightly out of breath, looking anxious, but she managed to force a slightly apologetic smile.

"Yangyang, I'm sorry, I really did try to persuade Grandma about what happened that day,"

"Grandma didn't mean any harm. She's just very traditional and values rules. Please don't be angry, okay?"

Lin Yuebai said softly, her eyes revealing a pitiful expression, as if she were the one who had been wronged.

Chu Wuyang looked at her coldly, his eyes filled with disdain.

She was utterly fed up with Lin Yuebai's pretentious act; they had clashed countless times since childhood.

Chu Wuyang could see through the hypocrisy behind Lin Yuebai's every move and expression.

"Lin Yuebai, aren't you tired of always being like this?"

Chu Wuyang said mercilessly, her voice icy and chilling.

"I really think Grandma Jiang shouldn't have done that. She could have just made a simple phone call. Why make such a fuss?"

Chu Wuyang continued, her tone filled with dissatisfaction and sarcasm.

She turned to leave, not wanting to get entangled with Lin Yuebai any longer.

Seeing this, Lin Yuebai quickly called her back.

"Yangyang, wait a minute, Grandma wants to see you."

She said she had something very important to tell you in person.

Her voice rose slightly, tinged with nervousness.

Chu Wuyang stopped and turned around, a disdainful expression on her face.

"What's the point of seeing Old Madam Jiang? She can't possibly ask me to plead for her grandson, can she?"

Chu Wuyang said with a cold laugh, her eyes filled with mockery and suspicion.

Judging from the way that old lady does things, she doesn't seem like the kind of person who could lower herself to that level.

The elegant Chinese tea room is filled with the subtle aroma of tea. Sunlight filters through the carved wooden windows, casting dappled shadows on the chessboard.

The interior is simply yet elegantly furnished, with antique tea sets and Chinese-style decorations, creating a rich cultural atmosphere.

Grandpa Chu and Jing Min sat facing each other, with black and white chess pieces crisscrossing on the chessboard in front of them.

Grandpa Chu held the black piece, his brows furrowed slightly, his eyes focused and sharp as he pondered his next move.

He looked up at Jing Min, a barely perceptible hint of admiration flashing in his eyes.

"Jingmin, your chess skills are getting more and more solid. This old man can hardly keep up. I admit defeat."

As he spoke, he gently placed a piece, his movements steady and decisive.

Jingmin smiled humbly and replied:

"Grandpa, you flatter me. I learned everything from you. You're the one who's amazing."

His gaze was focused on the chessboard, his slender fingers holding the white pieces, placing them gracefully with fluid movements.

Grandpa Chu sighed softly, leaned back in his chair, and gazed into the distance.

With a touch of the vicissitudes of time, he said:

"I'm getting old, and there are some things I really can't do anymore. Now it's your turn, the younger generation, and the future depends on you."

His gaze lingered on Jing Min for a moment, seemingly with a deeper meaning.

His eyes held both expectations for the younger generation and a hint of scrutiny.

Jing Min raised his head, his gaze meeting that of Old Master Chu, a hint of hesitation flashing in his eyes.

"Grandpa, what do you think of this mining incident?"

"Do you also believe that I didn't do such a thing?"

His tone was relaxed, and he was unconsciously toying with a chess piece in his hand.

Grandpa Chu was silent for a moment, then his expression turned serious.

His brows furrowed slightly, and he looked intently at Jing Min.

"I don't believe it."

Upon hearing these three words, Jing Min was taken aback.

But then Mr. Chu added:

"However, I believe you will not do anything out of line because you care about Yangyang."

His gaze returned to the chessboard, his fingers tapping lightly on the surface, as if he were pondering a deeper question.

Jingmin smiled slightly, "Really?"

The two continued playing chess, and the tea room was so quiet that only the sound of chess pieces falling could be heard.

——

In a beautiful sanatorium, surrounded by lush greenery and blooming flowers,

The lush lawn looked exceptionally green under the sunlight, like a giant green velvet carpet.

Not far away, a clear spring flows gently, making a pleasant sound, adding a touch of lively beauty to this tranquil environment.

Grandma Jiang sat in her wheelchair, basking in the sun on the lawn.

In just a few days, she seemed to have aged considerably. The wrinkles on her face were as deep as ravines, and her eyes had become dull and lifeless, revealing fatigue and haggardness.
