Night fell, as dark as ink, slowly enveloping the entire room.
As usual, Jingmin, smelling fresh after a bath, gently lifted the covers and climbed into bed.
Chu Wuyang keenly sensed his approach and subconsciously moved to the side, as if trying to create distance between them.
Jing Min's arm, which was originally meant to wrap around hers, hung awkwardly in mid-air.
He was slightly taken aback, and then noticed that something was wrong with Chu Wuyang.
Her brows furrowed slightly, her eyes filled with doubt and concern. She reached out and gently placed her slender fingers on Chu Wuyang's forehead.
He carefully checked her temperature, murmuring to himself as he did so:
"He doesn't have a fever, so what's wrong?"
Chu Wuyang's face clearly showed his annoyance.
Her brow was furrowed and her lips were slightly pursed, as if she was trying to suppress some emotion within her.
During this period, Jingmin's life was peaceful and at ease. He switched most of his work to remote processing, tried his best not to travel, and only wanted to stay at home to accompany Chu Wuyang.
Yan Zhou almost thought he was going to "stop holding court from morning till night" (a Chinese idiom meaning a monarch would never attend court again).
Seeing that Chu Wuyang was unwilling to say more, Jing Min whispered:
"Nothing's wrong? You don't look like anything's alright." He then said...
She leaned forward slightly, her eyes filled with a pleading look.
He gently moved his lips closer to Chu Wuyang.
He has been doing this every day for the past few days, and Chu Wuyang has mostly gone along with his enthusiasm.
But tonight, Chu Wuyang only felt inexplicably irritable and uncomfortable.
Without hesitation, she stretched out her hands and pushed hard against Jing Min's firm chest, saying:
"No, I'm so tired!"
Jingmin was somewhat taken aback by her sudden rejection.
He propped himself up on his hands, staring intently at Chu Wuyang's face, as if trying to find the answer in her expression, his tone tinged with grievance:
"How can I be tired? I haven't done anything yet!"
“You never seemed tired even after four or five times in the past.”
Chu Wuyang was in a bad mood and didn't want to get entangled with him any longer. She suddenly pushed away the unsuspecting Jing Min.
Jing Min stumbled and almost fell onto the bed.
Chu Wuyang took the opportunity to turn over, turn her back to Jing Min, close her eyes, and pretend to fall asleep.
Jingmin wasn't angry at her refusal or her rude behavior.
He sighed softly and slowly leaned in again.
His hand carefully reached forward, gently rubbing Chu Wuyang's lower abdomen. His lips approached her ear, and he whispered:
"So, you didn't practice your game well today?"
These past few days, he has been accompanying Chu Wuyang in practicing golf, and he has witnessed Chu Wuyang's golf skills improving day by day.
But today, Chu Wuyang was clearly distracted, and he couldn't help but wonder if she was already tired of this kind of life.
So he took the initiative to suggest:
Are you feeling bored?
"How about I take you horseback riding and shooting another day? I heard there's a great new training ground over there."
Although Chu Wuyang was still annoyed, she didn't want him to continue asking questions.
He just mumbled something casually, which was taken as an agreement to his suggestion.
