Chapter 4 Leaving Home

As autumn deepens, the occasional soft rustling of falling maple leaves can be heard.

At 11:30 p.m., Jing Min returned to the North Building under the cover of night. A maid came and took his coat from his hands.

He glanced casually at the living room; no one was there.

Going upstairs, I opened the door to find a large black suitcase. A wave of warmth washed over me. I patiently took a shower and changed my clothes.

When you go downstairs to the dining room and still can't find anyone, it's easy to get frustrated and impatiently wave to the maid who's cleaning the dining room.

"Where is your wife?"

The maid was young and hadn't been there long; he rarely interacted with her.

Despite the male homeowner's impeccably handsome face, she dared not look him in the eye.

Even though the male homeowner was wearing light-colored loungewear, he still exuded a gloomy and intimidating aura.

"Isn't Madam upstairs?" the maid asked in a low voice, having seen her mistress tidy up in the dining room after going upstairs.

Upon hearing the maid's words, Jing Min demanded sharply, "What happened?"

He's not upstairs; he already checked all the rooms upstairs.

The maid was somewhat frightened by Jing Min's harsh words and trembled slightly.

Trembling, he recounted everything that had just happened.

Jing Min's face darkened upon hearing this. He took out his phone, hesitated for a few seconds looking at a familiar number on the screen, and then dialed it.

As expected, no one answered, so I went back to my study to check the security camera footage.

Upon learning that she had driven herself out,

After checking the car's location—Qingshan Cemetery—I paused slightly.

Then, his previously ashen face softened, and without hesitation, he grabbed his car keys and stepped out the door. Just a few seconds later…

He returned, had the maid fetch some burn ointment, and then left.

12 o'clock, Qingshan Cemetery

"sorry"

"I'm sorry, Grandma... I'm so sorry."

Chu Wuyang kept her eyes tightly closed, choking back tears as she repeatedly apologized.

A tall, slender figure stood not far away; in the moonlight, her face was deathly pale, streaked with tears. The autumn wind blew by.

You could even clearly see the woman's trembling long eyelashes, as if they had been soaking in water, and a trace of blood seeped from her tightly clenched lips.

Jingmin wanted to step forward and embrace the figure he had been longing for, but he simply didn't have the courage.

My feet felt like they were filled with lead, so heavy that I couldn't take another step.

His hands, hanging down at his sides, clenched into fists but unable to open, and his heart suddenly clenched.

An indescribable heartache,

It was late at night, and there were very few pedestrians on the road.

Jing Min followed Chu Wuyang's car in his car. At first, it was clear that she was driving aimlessly.

They then drove all the way to the Chu family's house.

After watching Chu Wuyang's car enter the Chu family's residence, Jing Min waited in the car for a full two hours to make sure the person inside was fast asleep.

I just called the Chu family.

"She's already asleep. Young master, are you coming now?"

Jingmin didn't expect Aunt Rong to answer the phone. Perhaps Chu Wuyang hadn't gone to sleep yet because he had suddenly returned and been busy with various things.

After all, Aunt Rong had taken care of her since she was a child, attending to her every need in terms of food, clothing, and shelter.

They could be considered her family.

"Yes, I've arrived. Help me tidy up a room."

"Don't wake her, let her sleep."

2 a.m.

As Jingmin entered, Aunt Rong greeted him, "The room is all ready, you can go upstairs directly."

"No rush, I'll go check on her first. Please show me the way."

Aunt Rong looked at the handsome man in front of her; she knew the two had a conflict.

However, both of them were proud and arrogant, and neither was willing to back down.

Aunt Rong was also anxious but helpless.

Chu Wuyang's room was at the far end of the second floor. Jing Min lowered his footsteps until he reached the door, but then stopped at the doorway.

He pushed open the bedroom door a few seconds later.

Only a single sleep lamp remained in the room, emitting a faint, warm glow that cast a soft halo in the darkness.

Chu Wuyang was lying on his side with his back to the door. He unconsciously slowed his pace and approached gently.

She sat down carefully by the bedside.

The person on the bed had dark hair spread out on the light-colored pillow, and was breathing softly and slowly.

A faint sadness still lingered on her face, and Jing Min's heart tightened.

He unconsciously wanted to reach out and touch her face, but immediately withdrew his hand. His gaze then shifted downwards, and he gently lifted her hand to examine it.

In the dim light, he noticed some redness and blisters on her fingertips. He took out a plaster he had brought from home and gently applied it to them.

The moment their skin touched, Jingmin's heart skipped a beat.

He turned and looked at her fair face for a few seconds, having the illusion that she was conscious.

After applying the medicine, he reached out and gently tucked a few strands of hair that had fallen across her forehead behind her ear. She had lost weight, and her hair was shorter.

The couple, separated for so long, met again in this situation where they were unable to speak.

After about five minutes, Jingmin stood up and left the room.

As Chu Wuyang lay in bed, the moment she heard the door close...

He slowly opened his eyes, looking thoughtfully at the ointment on his hand…
