Chapter 240 Going on a Trip

The air seemed to freeze at that moment.

Jing Min held Chu Wuyang in his arms, feeling her slightly cool body temperature.

The anxiety in my heart was hard to dispel.

He slowly loosened his grip on her a little.

This allowed her to catch her breath a little, but her arms remained around her waist.

It was as if he was confirming that she was still in his arms and had not been taken away by anyone.

He looked down at her, his voice low and restrained:

“Yangyang, the old man was able to enter the country so quietly that none of my men noticed,”

"He clearly came prepared this time."

"I'm really worried..."

Chu Wuyang looked up at him, noticing the caution in his tone.

She didn't say anything, waiting for him to continue.

Jing Min stared into her eyes, deliberately softening his tone as if afraid she would resist:

I'd like to send some people to follow you...

"...Don't misunderstand,"

"It's not about spying on you, nor is it about peeping at you,"

"It's just to prevent the old man's people from getting close to you."

He gently squeezed her fingertips, his earnestness undisguised in his eyes.

"Just for prevention,"

"We will never interfere with or pry into your life."

Chu Wuyang lowered her eyes, her fingertips gently stroking the hem of her clothes.

He seemed to be pondering something.

Her silence made Jingmin's brows furrow even more.

He could tell,

She hesitated.

But he sensed more keenly that she seemed to be hiding something from him.

Jing Min's gaze deepened slightly as he took her hand and asked softly:

"Yangyang, what are you thinking about?"

Chu Wuyang's eyelashes trembled slightly, but she still did not answer immediately.

She was weighing whether or not to tell Jingmin that Zhou Heng had also contacted her.

But... this matter involves Yang Jinchu.

She wasn't sure how Jingmin would view it.

Will he take this opportunity to make a move against Yang Jinchu?

After all, the relationship between the two was... like fire and water.

Although Jingmin has changed a lot now,

But... when the two fought in the US, she could tell that Jing Min was definitely going all out.

If Jingmin gets hold of Yang Jinchu's weakness...

She lowered her head and remained silent, her fingertips tightening slightly.

Looking at her like this, Jing Min's brow furrowed even deeper.

He was silent for a moment,

Suddenly, he changed to a gentler tone:

"How about we go on a trip?"

"Should we get away from Haicheng for a while?"

Chu Wuyang was taken aback, and looked up at him.

It seemed they hadn't expected him to say that so suddenly.

Jing Min chuckled softly, his tone slightly coaxing:

"Anyway, we rarely have the chance to go out together,"

"Let's take this opportunity to leave Haicheng and escape all this mess."

He ruffled her hair, his gaze softening.

"I'll take you to a quieter place,"

"Shall we come back after things are settled here?"

Chu Wuyang frowned slightly, seemingly pondering the meaning behind his words:

"You want to leave Haicheng?"

Jing Min nodded and explained earnestly:

"There's been too much chaos in Haicheng lately. Old Master Jin came to me wanting me to go back and be his stepping stone."

His gaze turned slightly cold, and his tone carried a hint of sarcasm:

“His entire lineage has been rotten to the core for a long time. I crippled his son because his son harmed me first.”

"Now those people are in a complete mess,"

"They want me to go back and clean up the mess, but why should I bail them out?"

Chu Wuyang frowned slightly.

It seems they never expected there to be such a scheme behind it all.

Seeing that she was wavering, Jingmin softened his tone.

He patiently and persuasively said:

"We'll come back once Zhou Heng's matter is settled and the Chu family is stable."

He paused, then tried to persuade her from a different angle:

"Besides, if we stay in Haicheng, we can't escape the requests for help from all those distant relatives of the Chu family,"

"When the time comes, they'll come begging to you, and you won't be able to refuse them even if you want to."

"I can protect the Chu family, but as for those collateral branches... I will be willing but unable to do anything about it."

Chu Wuyang looked at him,

There was a moment of silence.

It wasn't that she couldn't understand Jingmin's thoughts.

He does have a point.

Seeing that she was hesitant to express her opinion, Jingmin

But another voice inside was reminding me—

He asked her to leave Haicheng with him temporarily.

It was also a way for him to breathe a sigh of relief.

Yang Jinchu was practically omnipresent in Haicheng.

He always found some excuse to ask her out.

Today we go to pray for blessings, tomorrow we visit relatives, and the day after tomorrow we go to paint together?

What's most infuriating is that they even sent flowers as a "provocation"!

He was almost driven crazy by this oppressive feeling.

Jing Min's eyes darkened slightly as he stared at Chu Wuyang, adding in a low voice:

"Yangyang, shall we go for a walk?"

His voice was deep and gentle.

His tone carried a subtle hint of stubbornness and expectation.

Chu Wuyang looked up at him, a complex emotion rising in her eyes.

She did not answer immediately.

Her fingertips unconsciously traced the hem of her dress.

Jingmin looked at her,

A deep meaning flashed in his eyes.

He then reached out and gently took her hand, his voice soft but with an undeniable firmness:

"Yangyang, trust me, okay?"

Chu Wuyang looked at Jing Min and nodded gently.

"good."

Her voice wasn't loud.

Yet it revealed a subtle, almost imperceptible looseness.

Jingmin stared into her eyes.

Once I confirmed that she had genuinely agreed and wasn't just going through the motions, I finally felt a little relieved.
