Chapter 52 Wooden House

After lunch, Jingmin stood by the window and made a phone call.

Chu Wuyang sat at the dining table, looking at the person in front of her who had been busy ever since she boarded the plane and arrived on the island.

I really can't understand it.

If you're already so busy, why bother going abroad with her?

However, upon closer reflection, it's understandable; now that Li Yan, whom he trusts most, is no longer by his side.

He and she had zero credibility with him, so it was naturally the most reassuring thing for him to keep an eye on things personally.

Or perhaps there are other, unknown motives she is unaware of; that's not impossible.

I just finished eating, and although I'm still a little sleepy, I feel satisfied.

She stood up, stretched out her arms, and tilted her head slightly back, making small stretching movements.

The movement of turning his head allowed him to see the small wooden house in the garden.

She stopped and walked towards the garden.

Jingmin caught a glimpse of the people at the table walking towards the door out of the corner of his eye, and was about to call out to them when...

Seeing that they were heading in the direction of the garden, they stopped talking and continued listening to the work report on the phone.

However, his gaze was still directed towards the garden through the window.

The large floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room are perfect, offering a panoramic view of the entire garden.

Chu Wuyang walked along the path paved with stone slabs of various shapes until she reached the wooden house.

It was too dark last night; I only saw a rough outline from afar.

Upon closer inspection, one sees a large tree growing right in the middle of a wooden house.

Her eyes widened slightly, and even her long eyelashes trembled involuntarily.

It was as if a gentle breeze had blown by, softly rippling across the lake of her heart.

In that instant, she remembered how she had tried to lower his guard in the past.

They can come up with all sorts of tricks, and can casually spout embarrassing toe-picking remarks. They're especially good at making grand promises.

One day, she held up her completed design sketches and vividly described to him the source of her inspiration and the design concept.

She couldn't remember the exact words, but the gist was:

She sheltered him like the outstretched trunk of a large tree; when he had no one to rely on, she and her family would protect him like that tree.

Be his strong support, shelter him from the wind and rain.

The tree growing in the very center of the house symbolizes that she will take root and sprout in his heart, growing into a towering tree that firmly occupies his heart.

In this way, they are intertwined, each with their own presence.

They will live happily in this house.

Just like the ending of a fairy tale:

Facing the sea, with spring flowers in bloom, they got married and lived happily ever after.

It's ironic now that I think about it.

Although her initial intentions when making the promise were false, she did indeed fulfill the promise she made.

She and her family truly became his support.

And what about him?

Thinking about that deception that causes no real harm not only risks usurping someone else's place but also risks inviting trouble.

No wonder fairy tales always end at the wedding, without ever mentioning what happens afterward.

While lost in thought,

Sounds came from inside the wooden house.

She walked in with some surprise, and unsurprisingly, the layout inside was exactly the same as her design drawings.

A man with a buzz cut was squatting on the ground laying out a carpet.

There were still some unopened soft furnishings scattered around. After laying the carpet, she skillfully got up and assembled the sofa.

As they moved the sofa, Chu Wuyang glanced up at the door and paused.

Mingxiu greeted him with a bright smile.

"Madam, what brings you here? Come in, don't stand, come in, make yourself at home."

Mingxiu warmly invited Chu Wuyang to sit down.

"Please be careful! It's a bit messy here, but I'll tidy it up right away. Feel free to take a look."

His natural tone made it sound like he was at home.

Chu Wuyang was slightly surprised to see Mingxiu in front of her. She had long, flowing hair in the morning, so why did she cut it after lunch?

Mingxiu felt a little flustered when he saw Chu Wuyang staring at him without saying a word.

Although Li Yan had intentionally or unintentionally revealed the relationship between the two when handing over his work to him, he was naive, not stupid.

How could he not see that President Jing was taking his anger out on him because of his wife's praise?

It's not that he was so arrogant as to think he had won his wife's favor,

It was obvious that it was just a casual compliment from his wife.

He paid a heavy price for even this, so what if he were to neglect his wife in any other way and displease her?

That's not just a matter of hair loss, it could be a serious matter of losing your head.

The more Mingxiu thought about it, the more terrified she became. She couldn't help but shrink back.

"Why did you cut your hair? It looked great on you, it suited you perfectly."

Chu Wuyang's gentle voice betrayed her confusion.

Mingxiu was in a daze. After hearing this, her eyes widened, and she quickly turned her head to look out the window at the villa's floor-to-ceiling windows.

He wasn't sure if someone was standing there, but it seemed like a dangerous gaze was fixed on him.

A flicker of fear crossed Chu Wuyang's eyes. He desperately wanted to cover his mouth, but he didn't dare. He stammered and quickly denied it.

"No, no, it's beautiful,"

His tone was somewhat incoherent; in a fit of anger, he grabbed a handful of his hair.

Chu Wuyang looked at his inexplicable actions and asked with amusement.

"Huh, what are you saying?"

Mingxiu wanted to quickly find an excuse to change the subject.

My gaze drifted to the tree that seemed to have sprung up from the house; it was getting cooler and its leaves were already falling.

He touched his hair and said blankly.

"My hair is falling out because the weather is getting colder..."

Only after he finished speaking did he realize what he had said. He felt a pang of regret, slapped his forehead, and thought to himself, "How incredibly stupid of me!"

Chu Wuyang wandered around the room, unaware of Mingxiu's natural expression behind him, and barely hearing what he said.
