Chapter 97 Recollections (Post-Marital Conflicts)

Grandma Jiang was lost in her memories, her eyes filled with complex emotions from the past, and she spoke slowly and heavily.

But when she caught a glimpse of Chu Wuyang's impatient movement as he got up out of the corner of her eye,

And when that expression was filled with "I don't want to hear it anymore,"

A flash of anger crossed her wrinkled face.

She suddenly stretched out her thin, yet powerful hand, her fingers trembling slightly with excitement, pointing directly at Chu Wuyang.

The sound also rose sharply in an instant, becoming as piercing as a blade cutting through the air.

"You young people are all like this, you have no patience at all!"

"In fact, things turned out exactly as I expected!"

"Don't think you can guess anything; the facts are right in front of you."

"I knew this would happen. If you don't listen to the end, you'll regret it later!"

Chu Wuyang was already disgusted by Old Madam Jiang's words, and upon hearing this accusation,

A mocking smile instantly appeared at the corner of his mouth, and he let out two cold snorts from his nose, the sound as cold and sharp as ice shards.

"Hmph, alright, alright, please continue."

She stopped and turned to look at Old Madam Jiang, raising her hand in a gesture of attentive listening, and gesturing with her chin to continue.

She bent down to straighten the wrinkles on her skirt.

Then, with slow and arrogant steps, she walked back to the wicker chair, sat down gracefully, and casually crossed her legs.

Grandma Jiang glared at Chu Wuyang, took a deep breath, and gazed into the distance, continuing in her aged voice, "..."

"Later, just as I expected, A-Yi was tortured until he was covered in bruises..."

Grandma Jiang sat quietly on the lawn of the nursing home, sunlight filtering through the dappled leaves and falling on her.

But it couldn't dispel the deep weariness and vicissitudes emanating from her. She squinted her cloudy eyes slightly.

Looking at Chu Wuyang beside her, her lips trembled slightly as she slowly spoke.

"After getting married, A-Yi became busier and busier with work, but Jin Lanyue's personality really didn't change at all."

Grandma Jiang frowned, her face full of helplessness, and her right hand unconsciously patted her leg lightly.

"She always felt that A-Yi was just making excuses for being busy with work. Those unfounded suspicions and distrusts were like mountains, making it hard for A-Yi to breathe."

Chu Wuyang listened quietly, a complex expression flashing in her eyes.

She gently kicked at the grass at her feet without saying a word.

Even so, A-Yi is still as good to Jin Lanyue as ever.

A trace of sorrow flashed in Grandma Jiang's eyes.

"But who could have imagined that one day, Jin Lanyue would hear rumors from who-knows-where,"

"They said that Awei was actually Ayi's childhood sweetheart, and that they had dated before, and even still have a relationship in private now."

Chu Wuyang sneered, a slight upturn at the corners of her mouth, her eyes filled with mockery:

"Hmph, it's not really just gossip!"

"After all, there's no smoke without fire. Wasn't it you who acted as a go-between, letting them get along for a while without any real tension?"

Grandma Jiang choked as if someone had grabbed her by the throat.

Her eyes widened, a flash of anger crossing her cloudy gaze, and she glared fiercely at Chu Wuyang.

But I can't find any words to refute it.

After a long pause, he continued:

"Then, Jin Lanyue started making a scene, and the whole family never had a peaceful day."

"She kicked Avi out, and that wasn't all,"

"They won't even let Ayi see Awei, or allow anyone in our family to have any contact with Awei. That's just ridiculous!"

Upon hearing this, Chu Wuyang's expression turned sorrowful. She bit her lower lip tightly, and her hands unconsciously clenched the hem of her clothes.

It's obvious without even thinking that Lin Wei has nowhere to go.

She then became entangled with her father, which made Chu Wuyang feel as if a huge stone was lodged in her heart.

Grandma Jiang sighed softly, her eyes filled with pity:

“Ayi has always been a very filial son to me. No matter how much Jin Lanyue made a fuss before, he always let her have her way.”

"But because of Awei's matter, I got so angry that I fell ill and was hospitalized, and Ayi finally snapped."

“After that, he became distant from Jin Lanyue, busy with work all day and rarely came home.”

He originally hoped Jin Lanyue could tone down her temper, but in Jin Lanyue's eyes, A-Yi had broken his promise; she even suspected him of being unfaithful and having someone else.

“No matter how much people around her tried to persuade her, she wouldn’t believe it. Because of what happened with Awei, she felt that her family was lying to her.”

"The colder A-Yi was to her, the more she clung to him."

Finally, A-Yi couldn't take it anymore and filed for divorce.

Grandma Jiang's voice was somewhat hoarse, and her emotions were unclear.

Chu Wuyang smiled again, but that smile was full of sarcasm.

"Even if Jin Lanyue was indeed wrong, Jing Yi did break his promise in the end."

"Grandma, I thought you meant there was some kind of twist in this matter!"

"Isn't this still a tragic ending for a love-struck protagonist?"

Grandma Jiang sat firmly in her chair, completely undisturbed by Chu Wuyang's words.

Her cloudy yet sharp eyes narrowed slightly as she continued:

"After A-Yi proposed the divorce, Jin Lanyue seemed to have become a different person, and she restrained her arrogant nature."

She paused, a look of reminiscence appearing on her face.

"She became gentle, considerate, and understanding. Ah Yi already had feelings for her, so the two naturally spent some more time together sweetly."

"It was during this time that Jingmin was born."

Chu Wuyang tilted her head slightly, a barely perceptible glint flashing in her eyes.

As if drawn by some mysterious force, I became increasingly interested in the story for no apparent reason.

My ears perked up involuntarily, and I listened intently.

Grandma Jiang glanced at Chu Wuyang sideways, but didn't rush to speak again. She tapped the table lightly with her somewhat withered fingers, her gaze drifting to the tea on the table.

Chu Wuyang was stunned for a moment, then instantly realized what was happening.

He picked up the teapot with great awareness and poured a cup of tea for the old lady. The tea poured into the cup, making a soft gurgling sound.

Grandma Jiang picked up her teacup, gently blew on the tea leaves floating on the surface, and took a small sip.

He let the warm tea slowly slide down his throat, moistening his slightly dry throat, before slowly continuing to speak:

"Jingmin's birth was like adding fuel to the fire of their already sweet relationship,"

"During that time, the house was filled with the scent of happiness."

At this point, the old lady's brows suddenly furrowed, and her voice became somewhat heavy:

"But then, we realized something was wrong. Whenever A-Yi wasn't home,"

"Jin Lanyue seems to have changed completely. She almost completely ignores Jing Min."
