After Lu Lin came out of the operating room, he slept for a full three hours.
For three hours, Gu Mingyue was so bored that she almost knew exactly how many eyelashes he had.
Having not drunk water for too long, Lu Lin felt his throat was a little dry, and he tried to sit up.
Seeing this, Gu Mingyue quickly supported his shoulders, used a pillow to support his lower back, and helped him sit up. "What do you want to do? I'll help you. Your doctor said you'd better not move for now."
Lu Lin pursed his dry lips and said, "I feel a little thirsty."
Drink water? That's easy.
The cup contained pre-cooled boiled water, and Gu Mingyue added a little hot water. After mixing, she felt the temperature was about right before handing it over.
Lu Lin realized something was wrong after finishing the drink in one gulp. What if he needed to go to the toilet later after drinking so much water?
Thinking that Gu Mingyue was still there, he couldn't very well let her help him, that would be too awkward.
"Would you like some more?"
Seeing that he drank all the water in one gulp, Gu Mingyue thought he might be very thirsty, so she asked him more questions.
Lu Lin quickly shook his head; it would be a real joke if he drank any more.
"Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle, Aunt, and Uncle and Aunt have all gone back. They'll be so happy to know you're awake. I'll tell them the good news when the caregiver comes back."
It turned out they had hired a caregiver, and Lu Lin finally breathed a sigh of relief, no longer facing an awkward situation.
I just don't know why, but I still feel a little disappointed.
The room fell silent for a moment. Gu Mingyue didn't know what to say, so she could only say dryly, "Lu Ze just said that he would bring you delicious food and fun things when you wake up."
Thinking of how Lu Ze was beaten up by Lu Wanwan, Gu Mingyue couldn't help but laugh.
I never expected that someone as tall as him would look like a younger brother standing next to Lu Wanwan, without any of the demeanor of an older brother.
Lu Lin felt a pang of jealousy when she mentioned Lu Ze in such a lighthearted tone, especially with the smile in her eyes, which made him even more uncomfortable.
"You really like Lu Ze?"
Lu Lin felt a little sour as he spoke.
Gu Mingyue didn't know why he asked that. But she still shook her head and said according to her own thoughts, "No, I think he's very interesting."
Fun?
Wouldn't that draw even more attention to Lu Ze?
Lu Lin felt even more bitter at this thought.
It seems I'll have to find some time to let Lu Ze go out and get some exercise, and spend less time at home.
Lu Ze was unaware that his elder brother, who had finally seen through his feelings, had arranged everything for him.
After the caregiver returned, with someone watching over Lu Ze, Gu Mingyue went out to call home and tell them that Lu Lin had woken up.
Upon receiving the news, the Lu family rushed over.
A group of people surrounded the hospital bed, asking Lu Lin how he was feeling.
Seeing the worried looks on his family's faces, Lu Lin forced a smile and comforted them, "Don't worry, it's nothing serious. Old Master Xue said that as long as you do your rehabilitation on time and pay attention to your diet, you'll be able to stand up again in a few months."
Xia Huiying burst into tears of joy, grasped his hand, and repeatedly said yes.
She watched her grandson grow up from a young age and knew that the child was proud at heart.
When he returned from his injury, the military reserved his status and promised that he could rejoin the unit once he recovered.
But everyone knew in their hearts that the chances were slim, and even Lu Lin himself dared not make a guarantee.
He understands his own body and knows that the chances of recovery are probably slim, so he offered to retire from the military.
The higher-ups couldn't bear to waste such a promising talent, so they told him to focus on recovering and that everything else could be discussed later.
Looking back now, it's fortunate that his supervisor didn't approve his application.
Otherwise, the child might regret it for the rest of his life.
Lu Lin trained in the military camp with his father since he was a child, and many people said that he was born for the military.
After he came of age, he chose to study at a military academy and worked hard in the most difficult place for five years.
If it weren't for this accident, he probably would have achieved even greater things.
Fortunately, it's not too late; he's still young and has a chance.
Lu Lin chatted with the Lu family for a while, and his eyes slowly began to show signs of fatigue.
Xia Huiying thoughtfully tucked the blanket around him and gestured for everyone to go back.
“Mingyue, why don’t you come back with us? There are caregivers here looking after him. We can come back to see him when it’s time to eat.”
Gu Mingyue thought about it and agreed. Since she couldn't help anyone here anyway, she might as well go back and make some soup for Lu Lin to make her presence known.
After arriving home, Gu Mingyue felt a little tired and took a nap, but she overslept.
When Gu Mingyue arrived in the kitchen, Aunt Liu was cooking. Seeing Gu Mingyue come over, she asked her curiously, "What's wrong? Are you hungry, Mingyue? The food won't be ready for a while."
Smelling the delicious aroma in the air, Gu Mingyue was indeed a little hungry, but she remembered that she had come here to make soup.
Before they could even start cooking, they discovered a pot of something simmering in the kitchen.
"Aunt Liu, what are you stewing in the pot?"
"This is chicken soup for Xiao Lin. He just had surgery and can't drink anything greasy, so I skimmed off all the oil on top. Look how clear it is now, and it's not greasy at all."
Gu Mingyue took a look and it was indeed true. This kind of soup could nourish the body for the patient without being greasy.
There was no chance to make soup, so Gu Mingyue volunteered to deliver the food.
Lu Wanwan couldn't sit still at home and wanted to go out for a stroll, so she shamelessly went with her sister-in-law.
