Chapter 49 Holding a Wedding

Lu Wanwan smiled and whispered in Gu Mingyue's ear, "My older brother is stunned."

Reminded by the others, Lu Lin came to his senses.

A smile played on his lips as he reached out his hand to Gu Mingyue and said gently, "Mingyue, I've come to pick you up."

Gu Mingyue slowly placed her hand in his, and the two smiled at each other.

Amidst the cheers and jeers of the crowd, Gu Mingyue got into the car.

The cars were decorated with festive red knots; the Lu family had hired six cars for good luck.

Although the current situation does not allow it, he still wants to do his best to give Gu Mingyue an unforgettable wedding.

The car quickly stopped in front of the new house, where the elders of the Lu family were waiting.

The courtyard was already packed with people, and the walls were covered with big red "double happiness" characters. The window paper was cut out with double happiness symbols, fish, and lotus flowers, symbolizing abundance year after year and the birth of many sons.

Everyone laughed and made way for Lu Lin and Gu Mingyue to stand side by side.

He quietly squeezed her hand, the warmth of his palm calming her tense heart.

Because of the special circumstances, after bowing to their elders, Gu Mingyue returned to her room and sat down.

She was dragged out of bed early in the morning to wash up and put on makeup. She had only eaten two eggs, and now her stomach was growling with hunger.

"sister in law."

Just as Gu Mingyue was wondering whether she should go out to find something to eat, Lu Wanwan came in from outside, carrying a bowl of egg noodles with a chicken leg on top.

"Mom guessed you were hungry, so she asked me to bring you food."

Gu Mingyue was stunned for a moment, then quickly took it. The bowl was steaming hot, and the aroma of eggs mixed with the smell of chicken soup wafted over.

She couldn't help but swallow hard. "Thank you, Wanwan."

Lu Wanwan blinked and smiled mischievously, "I specially added the chicken leg for you."

Gu Mingyue was amused and took a bite of the chicken leg. The meat was tender and the broth was rich, which warmed her stomach and made her feel extremely comfortable.

As they were eating, Lu Lin pushed the door open and came in. He immediately saw the chicken leg in his bowl and said, feigning displeasure, "Oh, so you two ganged up on me."

Lu Wanwan stuck her tongue out at him, "Who told you not to come back sooner? This is your sister-in-law's."

Lu Lin walked over, sat down next to Gu Mingyue, reached out and pinched her earlobe, and whispered, "Eat slowly, don't burn yourself."

Gu Mingyue looked up at him, feeling a slight jolt in her heart.

This is what home feels like: hot meals and someone who cares about you.

After watching Gu Mingyue finish her meal, Lu Lin took the bowls and chopsticks with him when he left, so that his sister-in-law could stay and sit with his wife for a while longer.

Lu Wanwan exclaimed, "I never knew my brother had such a heartwarming side. Married people really are different."

Gu Mingyue's ears burned, and she pretended to be angry, "Fine, you've even started teasing me now."

She deliberately tickled Lu Wanwan's skin, and the two of them burst into laughter.

If it weren't for the knocking on the door, the two could have continued arguing.

The visitors were Xia Huiying and Zhong Yuxiu.

"Grandma, Auntie."

Zhong Yuxiu said with a smile, "You're still calling me 'Auntie'? You should change your address."

Gu Mingyue blushed slightly and softly called out, "Mom."

Zhong Yuxiu: "Hey!"

Xia Huiying's smile never stopped today. Holding Gu Mingyue's hand, she said, "Yueyue is finally our family's daughter-in-law."

Although the Lu family treated her as a daughter-in-law when she first came, the wedding ceremony made things look even better on the surface.

Zhong Yuxiu handed her a box, saying, "This is my dowry that I saved up when I was young. Today, I'm officially passing it on to you."

Gu Mingyue was a little embarrassed. "Mom, this is too expensive."

"Silly child, you're a member of the Lu family now, take it." Zhong Yuxiu patted her hand with a smile, her eyes full of affection.

Xia Huiying also told her to keep it, saying, "This is our family heirloom, passed down from generation to generation. I gave it to Yuxiu, and now Yuxiu is giving it to you, so that it can be passed down to future generations."

Gu Mingyue then accepted it.

After the two elders left, Sun Qianqian and Song Mingyu came in to chat with her.

The lively atmosphere gradually dissipated as the sun set.

Lu Lin was persuaded by several friends to drink several glasses of wine, and returned to the new house with a slightly drunk look on his face.

"Sister-in-law, I'm sorry, we accidentally drank too much, and Lu Lin is drunk."

Xing Yi scratched his head, feeling quite embarrassed. On their wedding night, the male protagonist was made drunk. What was going on?

Gu Mingyue helped Lu Lin to lie down on the bed before asking, "How much did he drink?"

Xing Yi scratched his head. "Just a pound of baijiu?"

This shouldn't be the case. Given Lao Lu's alcohol tolerance, it's impossible for him to be this drunk, but he doesn't seem to be faking it.

"Hey sister-in-law, when he wakes up, don't scold him. Blame me if you have to."

Gu Mingyue smiled helplessly. Did she have a bad temper? Why would she swear?

Xing Yi left only after confirming several times that she wouldn't swear.

No sooner had Xing Yi left than Gu Mingyue was embraced in a warm embrace.

She stared blankly at the person in front of her. "Huh? You did this on purpose?"

Lu Lin hugged his wife, buried his head in her neck, and said in a slightly hoarse voice, "Of course I was faking it, otherwise they would have gotten me drunk."

With his alcohol tolerance, a pound or two is nothing to him. Just like Xing Yi said, tonight is his wedding night, and he doesn't want to come back reeking of alcohol.

If your wife dislikes you, you'll be kicked out and have nowhere to cry.

Gu Mingyue was both amused and exasperated. No wonder Xing Yi had been nagging him earlier that he shouldn't have gotten drunk.

Holding his sweet and soft wife, Lu Lin was slightly tipsy under the influence of alcohol.

He looked down at Gu Mingyue's lips and found them inexplicably tempting, like soft, fragrant candy dangling in front of him.

The next second, Gu Mingyue's eyes suddenly widened.

Why did this person attack so suddenly?!

When the two separated again, Gu Mingyue's face was as red as a ripe apple, flushed with heat, and even the tips of her ears were tinged with pink.

She kept her head down, her fingers unconsciously twisting the hem of her clothes, not daring to look into Lu Lin's eyes.

Seeing her shy expression, Lu Lin leaned in again and left a kiss on her cheek.

"Wife, you are so cute."

Gu Mingyue gave him a coquettish look, "Don't kiss me anymore, you smell of alcohol, go wash up."

Lu Lin gave a solemn salute. "Yes, sir."

There was a special place to wash up in the new house. Lu Lin quickly took a shower and changed into a new set of clothes.

According to custom, they would have dinner with their elders in the evening.

The guests outside had all left. Finally, she woke up, knocked on the door, and called them to come and eat.

Gu Mingyue agreed and urged Lu Lin to hurry up and pack.

"Hurry up, or Mom and Dad will think we're doing something in the room."

"So that's what you were thinking, honey. If I'd known... mmm mmm."

Before Lu Lin could utter those shocking words, Gu Mingyue covered his mouth.

"Don't talk nonsense, let's go quickly."

Seeing his angry back, Lu Lin jogged a few steps to catch up.
