Chapter 114 Master

About half a month after Feng Mingshu arrived on the island, she received letters from her mother, younger brother and sister, and also a letter from the Li family's children.

The letter contained the wishes of several boys who wanted to join the army, and asked if the eldest brother-in-law could accept them.

After reading it, Feng Mingshu couldn't help but laugh and handed the letter to Zhou Jinshan: "You've gained a few more brothers-in-law."

Zhou Jinshan was initially puzzled, but after reading the letter, he understood where the extra brother-in-law came from. After pondering for a while, he said, "We can write back to tell them to exercise more, and then notify them to come over when we have recruitment news."

Upon hearing this, Feng Mingshu quickly waved his hand and said, "Don't take the children's jokes seriously. My mother mentioned those children in her letter. Uncle Li's family plans to have them become hunters."

Zhou Jinshan shook his head: "The children's ideals are not a joke, and I will not give them any special treatment. I will only provide an opportunity. Whether they are selected or not depends entirely on their own qualities."

"Won't this have a negative impact on you?" Feng Mingshu asked.

Zhou Jinshan: "No."

"Should I reply to them and let them know?"

“I’ll reply to them.” Zhou Jinshan picked up his pen, then paused and looked at his wife.

"What's wrong?"

"Ming Shu, can you write this for me?" Zhou Jinshan's expression was a little unnatural.

Feng Mingshu didn't understand at first, but then she laughed and said, "Wait a minute," before going to the study on the second floor.

When she returned, she had a calligraphy practice book in her hand, which she handed to Zhou Jinshan: "This is what I used to practice calligraphy when I was a child. You should practice too. Once you've mastered it, you'll be able to reply to letters yourself."

Zhou Jinshan's expression became somewhat complicated: "I've already married you, do I still need to practice calligraphy?"

Upon hearing this, Feng Mingshu raised an eyebrow: "So you only asked me to teach you before just to trick me into marrying you... umm..."

Before she could finish speaking, Zhou Jinshan lowered his head and kissed her, making her body go weak. Only then did the man explain, "It's not a lie, it's the truth."

Feng Mingshu was somewhat skeptical, but before she could raise any objections, the man bent down, picked her up, and pressed her onto the bed.

I listened to the rain by the window all night, and the crabapple blossoms could not bear the bitterness of the battle.

Zhou Jinshan lowered his head and kissed his sleeping wife, then got up and went to his study. He picked up a fountain pen, unfolded a calligraphy book, and began to practice, stroke by stroke.

Suddenly, it seemed as if a fair-skinned, red-lipped girl had appeared beside him, practicing calligraphy with him, and his previous weariness vanished in an instant.

Zhou Jinshan practiced until the early hours of the morning before turning off the lights and returning to his bedroom, where he hugged his little girl.

The next morning.

Feng Mingshu woke up to the sound of bugles and found Zhou Jinshan still in bed. She was a little surprised and nudged him, saying, "Why are you staying in bed today?"

"It's Sunday today, time to rest." Zhou Jinshan opened his eyes, grabbed her hand, and pulled her onto himself with a force.

Feng Mingshu, however, remembered the hard work of the previous night, immediately broke free from his hand, got out of bed, and hurriedly came up with an excuse: "The large classroom that the principal promised is finally going to start construction, and I need to go and supervise the construction."

Zhou Jinshan saw through her refusal, smiled, got up, and said, "I'll go with you."

After breakfast, the couple went to the island's middle school.

The place was bustling with activity, with construction workers and students offering to help.

When the students saw Feng Mingshu, they all stopped what they were doing and greeted her with "Hello, teacher!" But one of them asked directly, "Teacher Feng, who is that person next to you?"

The one who asked the question so bluntly was Li Jianguo, a student in Class 1 of the second year of junior high school.

The students were actually very curious, their eyes darting between Teacher Feng and the handsome man beside her.

Feng Mingshu grasped Zhou Jinshan's hand and smiled as she addressed the students, "This is my husband, your master."

Upon hearing this, the girls exclaimed in delight, praising their teacher and grandmaster as a perfect match, but the boys were somewhat deflated, with a few even glaring at Zhou Jinshan with hostility.

Zhou Jinshan didn't bother arguing with these young lads; he rolled up his sleeves and joined the work team.

Several boys challenged him to a contest, but they were defeated in both mixing cement and building walls.

That would be a bit embarrassing.

Li Jianguo put down the bricks he was holding, leaned closer to Feng Mingshu, and asked, "Teacher Feng, is your husband a construction worker?"

Feng Mingshu didn't see through Li Jianguo's little scheme. While wiping the window, she shook her head with a smile and said, "He's not a construction worker, he's a soldier on our island."

Li Jianguo was taken aback for a moment, then asked again, "So he's a deputy battalion commander now?"

Once you reach the rank of deputy battalion commander, your family can accompany you to the military. Li Jianguo couldn't help but mutter, "My master is a bit old." He quickly added, "He's a bit old to be paired with my teacher."

Just then, Zhou Jinshan turned around and looked over. Li Jianguo felt the pressure, but he glared back defiantly.

Feng Mingshu noticed the exchange of glances between them and was momentarily at a loss for words, but she still defended her husband first: "Li Jianguo, what you just said is incorrect. Your master is a few years older than your teacher, but he is not considered old, and his rank is not deputy battalion commander, but regimental commander."

Upon hearing the words "regimental level," Li Jianguo forgot all about exchanging glances with his master and asked in astonishment, "Master, are you thirty yet?"

"That's all, I'm still a few years away from thirty," Feng Mingshu said with a smile, a hint of pride in his heart.

Li Jianguo's eyes changed. He glanced at his master, who had already turned around to build the wall, and suddenly stopped and saluted: "Master, you are so capable, I feel at ease entrusting Teacher Feng to you."

Feng Mingshu: "..."

Zhou Jinshan turned around and looked at the young man who saluted him. Before he could respond, all the boys on the construction site followed Li Jianguo's example and stood at attention to salute, shouting in unison, "Master, we can rest assured that we are entrusting Teacher Feng to you!"

The boys had loud voices; their shouts could be heard from two or three miles away.

Teacher Feng, who was always calm and composed in front of her students, blushed for the first time because of their antics.

Zhou Jinshan, on the other side, returned the greeting, his sharp eyes sweeping over the group of children: "Study hard and don't let down the expectations of the motherland and the people."

"Yes, we will complete the mission!" the students replied in unison, the voices carrying for miles around.

Once the large classroom was completed, the conversation between Commander Zhou and the students spread throughout the entire island.

Back in the residential compound, I couldn't help but be teased by my neighbors.

Feng Mingshu was a little embarrassed at first, but she got used to it and became more composed.

Perhaps because the work at the radio station was so busy, Yan Jiayi from next door didn't come to her house until the evening of the next day to talk about it. She sighed, "Those kids in your class are so cute. If I had known it would be like this, I wouldn't have gone to the radio station. You have no idea how tiring the work at the radio station is these days. Not only do you have to read the scripts, but you also have to write them. Look, this is the script I wrote today. The station has arranged for me to broadcast it tomorrow."
