Chapter 77 Brother, will you come with me?

Through Wang Sujuan's account, Feng Mingshu learned how lively the Zhang and Chu families had been during the Spring Festival.

First, Zhang Yunxiao signed the form of willingness to go to the countryside. Then, he had a falling out with his parents and left home that night to stay at his uncle's house. He resolutely said that he would not see anyone and would only wait for the day to go to the countryside.

Chu Xuanxuan was determined to follow Zhang Yunxiao, so she went to the neighborhood committee to sign a form expressing her willingness to go to the countryside. Yu Xiuchun couldn't stop her, so she shifted the blame to the Zhang family, insisting that the Zhang family take responsibility. The best way to take responsibility, of course, was for Zhang Yunxiao to marry her daughter.

Wang Sujuan couldn't persuade her son, and couldn't even see him. In her anxiety, she declared that she would agree to let any girl marry into the Zhang family, as long as she could persuade her son to stay in the city.

Chu Xuanxuan was immediately energized and put all her effort into winning over Zhang Yunxiao. She wrote letters, cooked for him, and made three trips a day to him, but all her efforts were in vain.

With the day of her departure for the countryside drawing ever closer, Wang Sujuan was getting increasingly anxious. She had initially planned to treat Chu Xuanxuan to a meal to appease her and encourage her to keep up the good work, but after meeting Feng Mingshu at the restaurant, she changed her mind.

In Wang Sujuan's view, Feng Mingshu was the one who would untie the knot.

Feng Mingshu, who had become the center of attention while watching the drama unfold, was speechless.

Seeing Zhou Jinshan standing silently beside her, Feng Mingshu regretted her hesitation earlier. So, she said firmly, "Comrade Wang, my relationship with Zhang Yunxiao was already clarified before the New Year. You've come to the wrong person."

After saying that, she grabbed the back seat of the bicycle and prepared to jump on. Wang Sujuan became anxious and grabbed her, pleading, "Classmate Feng, I was wrong about what happened before the New Year. I apologize to you. Please, for the sake of your long-standing friendship with Yunxiao, you must go and persuade him. As long as you are willing to go, I will agree to any request you make."

Hearing the other party's promise, Feng Mingshu was tempted, but after thinking for two seconds, she shook her head helplessly: "Even if I go, I can't persuade her to go back. Once Zhang has made up her mind to go to the countryside, no one can stop her."

Seeing her refuse, Wang Sujuan's eyes reddened with anxiety. She grabbed her tightly and said, "The problem is that Yunxiao won't even see me or his father now, he won't see anyone else. But you're different. If you go, he'll definitely see you. I'm begging you to go see him, to talk to him. Whether he wants to stay or not, I'll be grateful to you. Whether you want money, things, or a job at a cotton mill, Yunxiao's father and I can arrange it..."

Wang Sujuan made several promises, but Zhou Jinshan's face turned cold: "My wife's job is none of your business. Mingshu, let's go."

As he spoke, he reached out his hand and, with a clever twist, made Wang Sujuan let go of his hand, pulling his wife back.

Feng Mingshu could tell that Zhou Jinshan was angry, so she didn't say anything more and nimbly jumped onto the back of the bicycle.

But just as Zhou Jinshan was about to pedal, a "thump" sound came from behind him. Feng Mingshu turned around in surprise and saw the usually proud female director of the cotton mill's trade union kneeling down on the busy street.

Almost reflexively, she jumped out of the car and grabbed Wang Sujuan's arm, but the latter refused to get up, pleading tearfully, "Classmate Feng, I know it's ugly for me to kneel down and beg you, but I'm a mother, and Yunxiao is my only son. I don't want him to hate me for the rest of his life. I beg you to go see him and help him resolve his inner conflict..."

Gradually, passersby gathered around, pointing and whispering, and several of the tailor's apprentices also came out to watch the spectacle.

Feng Mingshu admitted that she couldn't bear such a scene. She wasn't hard-hearted enough, and she was also worried that Wang Sujuan would make things worse. So she had to interrupt and say, "Fine, I'll go see him once, but only once. It has nothing to do with any feelings. This is a deal between you and me, and I can't guarantee that it will have a good outcome."

Upon hearing this, Wang Sujuan immediately stood up, grasped her hand, and said, "Alright, as long as you're willing to see my son, anything is fine!"

Wang Sujuan burst into tears of joy, while Feng Mingshu felt a strong pressure and a chill.

She turned to Zhou Jinshan, took his hand, her face flushed, and uttered a term of endearment that made her blush: "Brother, will you come with me?"

Zhou Jinshan kept a straight face, and even the soft little hand placed in his palm couldn't ease his tension. But that sweet and soft "brother" made his heart tremble. He unconsciously tightened his grip on that soft little hand and looked down at her, asking, "Are you sure you want me to go with you?"

Her hand was a little sore from being gripped so tightly, but Feng Mingshu didn't dare to hesitate for a moment. She nodded like a chicken pecking at rice: "Yes, I want you to come with me." After a pause, she added, "If you don't come with me, I won't go either."

Upon hearing her last sentence, Wang Sujuan tensed up and called out "Comrade." Zhou Jinshan's gaze swept over, and Wang Sujuan quickly shut up, but her face was full of pleading.

Zhou Jinshan ignored Wang Sujuan. He looked down at the delicate girl in front of him, and seeing her slightly reddened eyes, he felt a pang of sadness in his heart. He gritted his teeth, leaned down and whispered something in her ear.

Feng Mingshu's ears instantly burned, but before she could respond, the man said to Wang Sujuan, "Lead the way."

Wang Sujuan was so happy that she kept saying "okay" and rode her own bicycle ahead to lead the way.

Feng Mingshu silently jumped onto Zhou Jinshan's back seat and reached out to hug his waist, though his waist was a bit stiff.

I suppose he's still unhappy.

Two bicycles silently traversed the streets and alleys, finally stopping in front of a building in a government compound.

Upon arriving and parking the car, Wang Sujuan hesitated, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back. Feng Mingshu, however, had no intention of asking and walked straight towards the building entrance. Zhou Jinshan, however, called out to her.

"Mingshu, I'm waiting for you downstairs."

Feng Mingshu turned around in surprise: "Aren't you coming up with me?"

Zhou Jinshan said calmly, "I'll be waiting for you downstairs. If you need anything, just call me. I can hear you."

Zhang Yunxiao's uncle lives on the second floor, so he can definitely hear you if you shout.

Feng Mingshu thought for a moment, then walked back, took his hand, and said, "I'll be down soon."

Zhou Jinshan rubbed his calloused thumb against his wife's soft hand, then released it and gave a soft "hmm".

Feng Mingshu felt a tingling sensation on the back of her hand, which put her at ease. She then followed Wang Sujuan upstairs.

Unexpectedly, upon knocking on the door of Uncle Zhang's house, they witnessed a fascinating scene.

Well, she almost thought she had met her own sister.
