Chapter 14 Meeting

When Xu Nanzhi arrived at Hemingxuan, it was not yet six o'clock.

Push the door open and walk inside.

Hemingxuan is a restaurant serving private dishes, located in the center of Beijing.

The environment is elegant, the dishes are exquisite, and the taste is beyond words. Xu Nanzhi used to be a regular here, but after being away for five years, he felt a little dazed when he came back.

There are not many changes inside, and the antique charm hits you as soon as you walk in.

"Hello?" Looking at the waiter wearing the uniform blue and white porcelain cheongsam, Xu Nanzhi nodded politely: "Hello, I booked room 601."

"Ms. Xu, right?"

Xu Nanzhi nodded, and the waiter smiled and said, "Miss Xu, please come this way."

Leading Xu Nanzhi towards the box.

After entering, Xu Nanzhi casually sat on the sofa beside him: "There are still two people who haven't come yet. Let me take a look at the menu first."

"OK."

Xu Nanzhi took the menu and looked through it: "Add roasted lamb, stir-fried bamboo shoots, roast duck, and..."

He ordered seven or eight dishes in a row before handing the menu back.

Then, as if remembering something, he said, "Hey, wait a minute, give me another pot of Jin Jun Mei."

"OK."

The lady in the blue and white porcelain dress went out with the menu and came back with a teapot after a while.

After pouring a cup of tea for Xu Nanzhi, he went out again: "Miss Xu, if you need anything, please call me."

Xu Nanzhi nodded.

After the door of the box was closed again, Xu Nanzhi picked up the teacup and put it to his nose to smell the faint scent of honey. He took a sip and the lingering sweet fragrance was mixed with the fragrance of flowers and fruits. The taste was smooth, soft and mellow in the mouth, which was enjoyable and left a long aftertaste.

This made Xu Nanzhi squint his eyes slightly.

After a few minutes, there was a knock on the door and voices coming from the box door, and the next second, a familiar figure came into view.

Xu Nanzhi was leaning lightly on the sofa at this time, exuding a hint of laziness. As if he heard the voice, he held the teacup in one hand, raised his head casually, and their eyes met.

She only raised her eyebrows slightly, as if she was not surprised at all by the visitor. She raised the corners of her lips and said, "Wen Ting, long time no see."

This "long time no see" was completely different from the tone he used to greet other people before. Xu Nanzhi's voice seemed to have a trailing tone, and it sounded more familiar and playful than before.

Xu Nanzhi put down the teacup in his hand, stood up and slightly spread out his palms towards the visitor.

Wen Ting looked at the smiling girl in front of her. She seemed to be the same as before, but she knew that she had changed a lot in the past five years.

Mature and restrained.

The hand at his side clenched and unclenched, as if hesitating. Wen Yan, who was standing beside him, sensed the strange atmosphere and nudged Wen Ting with his hand, whispering, "Brother."

Wen Ting then stepped forward and hugged Xu Nanzhi: "Welcome back."

The voice was not loud, but it was extremely clear to Xu Nanzhi's ears.

The next second, Wen Ting released his arm around Xu Nanzhi, and the three of them found a place to sit down.

Wen Yan and Wen Ting sat on either side of Xu Nanzhi, keeping a distance from him.

Xu Nanzhi said to the waiter who was still at the door, "The food is ready."

The waiter spoke a few words into the intercom, and after about a minute, the dishes were served one after another.

After they left, only three people were left in the box. Perhaps noticing that the atmosphere between the two seemed a little awkward, Wen Yan livened up the atmosphere by saying, "Brother, look, I still remember your favorite dishes. Half of what's here are your favorites."

Wanting to adjust the atmosphere, but meeting Wen Ting's expressionless eyes, Wen Yan shuddered: "Well, there are some that I like too."

After saying that, he shrank back and stopped talking.

Wen Yan has listened to two people since he was a child, Xu Nanzhi and Wen Ting.

The box fell into silence again.

Xu Nanzhi really didn't know what to say. He was thinking about the words, but Wen Ting beside him suddenly spoke up: "Why don't you say it?"

Xu Nanzhi didn't quite understand what Wen Ting meant and gave him a puzzled look. Wen Ting spoke again, "Why didn't you tell me you were back?"

Knowing she would be asked this question, Xu Nanzhi curled her lips and said, "I have some things to deal with. I thought I'd contact you later."

"So Wen Yan and Zhou Fang knew everything, but kept it a secret from their family?"

As soon as Wen Ting said this, it was like a huge hat. Xu Nanzhi sighed in his heart: "Wen Yan was just an accidental encounter. As for Zhou Fang, I need his help with something."

After hearing what Xu Nanzhi said, Wen Ting spoke again: "So this is why you have always contacted Zhou Fang but not your family for so many years?"

These words made Xu Nanzhi choke. In her opinion, Wen Ting was a good person in every way except that his words were sometimes too irritating.

Seeing Xu Nanzhi remained silent, Wen Ting spoke again: "Why did you leave back then?"

"Don't want to answer?"

Wen Ting pressed on step by step. Xu Nanzhi thought for a moment and replied unhappily, "I just want a change of environment."

Wen Ting didn't say anything after he finished asking. Just when Xu Nanzhi thought he had finished asking questions and was about to eat, Wen Ting said something that almost made her choke on her saliva: "I heard that you were dumped back then? By the Su family?"

Glancing at Wen Ting intently, Xu Nanzhi said unhappily, "How come you've become more snarky in the past few years?"

Then he explained: "What do you mean by being dumped? I was the one who broke up. I can't explain the specific reason in just a few words."

He looked at Wen Ting again: "You should have checked almost everything, right? With your ability, why are you still asking me?"

Wen Ting glanced at Xu Nanzhi without saying anything. He poured himself a cup of tea and took a sip, then slowly said, "Where do you live now?"

"Lao Xu bought me this apartment when I was in college."

"Back to Yuncheng?" Wen Ting asked.

Xu Nanzhi nodded.

The box fell silent again. After about a minute, Wen Ting spoke again: "Come back and live here. I've had your room cleaned up. Aunt Yun misses you a lot, and my dad always mentions you."

Xu Nanzhi opened his mouth but didn't say anything, just nodded in agreement.

At this moment, Wen Yan, who had been silent like a quail, spoke up: "That's great, sister, this way we can see each other every day."

Wen Ting took another look, and because he was happy, Wen Yan raised an eyebrow at him for the first time.

Wen Ting ignored Wen Yan: "Aunt Yun has been on a business trip these two days and may not be back for a few days. My dad is at home. I have already said hello. He even told me before he left that he would pick you up in person if you didn't come back."

Xu Nanzhi smiled at this: "Uncle Wen is still the same."

As he spoke, Xu Nanzhi looked at Wen Ting: "What about you?"

"Me what?" Wen Ting was puzzled.

"How have you been these past few years? You said you're not young anymore, and you haven't had a relationship yet?"
