Miss you
Wen Zheng looked at Xia Tangyue for a long time.
"What's wrong, is there something on my face?"
"I was talking to you on the phone just now, and I heard that there seemed to be someone else around you."
Xia Tangyue said, "Oh," and lay back on the chair. "It's the manager of the investor. He asked me to come, and I couldn't refuse."
"I think he has other intentions." Wen Zheng said in a deep voice: "Next time he pesters you with the excuse of work, tell me."
Gu Jiaping did have ulterior motives, and tonight's conversation had exposed his arrogance and prejudice towards women. Xia Tangyue had no intention of continuing to pester him.
"He said tonight that I'm too old and that I won't be able to get married if I continue to be picky. If it weren't for the sake of cooperation, I would have scolded him a long time ago."
Wen Zheng suddenly tightened his hands on the steering wheel.
"What's his name?"
"Who?" Xia Tangyue shifted his sitting position and suddenly asked, "You mean the investment manager? His name is Gu Jiaping, what's wrong?"
"Nothing."
Wen Zheng drove into the garage and took Xia Tang into the elevator.
Along the way, Xia Tangyue was very curious and kept asking how Bada Shanren got the only copy of the Ink Lotus Painting from his later years.
Wen Zheng explained briefly that he had borrowed it from a friend.
He opened the door and let Xia Tang jump in, then pressed the chandelier switch.
The shining light poured down in front of my eyes, illuminating the ink lotus painting hanging on the wall.
The ink lotus painting exudes a deep ink color in the warm yellow halo, and the burnt ink rubbings on the edges of the lotus leaves are like knife carvings. The inscription on the upper half of the fragment: "Bada Shanren" glows with a dark gold luster under the light.
Xia Tangyue's heels made a light sound on the off-white marble floor. She almost held her breath as she walked to the painting, her fingertips hovering three inches away from the outer frame - this painting was a unique copy that countless artists wanted to see, and today she was touching it up close in this unexpected way.
She sighed secretly in her heart, then took out her mobile phone and carefully recorded every inch of the painting.
Behind her is the night view from the floor-to-ceiling windows in the room. The smooth glass takes in the neon lights of the city. The skyscrapers of the central business district turn into a twinkling galaxy under her feet, and this priceless ancient painting is now facing the lights of thousands of homes.
It was unknown how long it had passed before Xia Tangyue came back to her senses from her fascination with admiring the famous painting, and found Wen Zheng sitting on the sofa next to her, looking at her with a smile on his face.
She also laughed: "Brother is really amazing. You even got this rare painting."
Wen Zheng walked towards her, his shadow looming over her.
"Want to see your room?"
Xia Tangyue opened his eyes wide and asked curiously, "My room?"
Wen Zheng pinched her little face, walked around her and opened the door of a room next to her.
"Yes, your room, come and take a look?"
Xia Tangyue took a step forward hesitantly, stood beside Wen Zheng, and poked his head towards the room.
The warm pink decorations are the first thing that catches your eye.
Her eyes passed by the bedside lamp decorated with pearl tassels, and finally stopped at the half-human-high stuffed bear doll placed on the bedside. It was wrapped in light blue fur, with a rose embroidered bow tie and a small enamel brooch on its chest, looking naive and a little noble.
The bed was covered with a beige jacquard cotton fitted sheet, with a knitted blanket of the same color stacked on top. The edges were embroidered with fine lily of the valley patterns with creamy white silk thread. A corner of the fluffy down quilt revealed a smooth silk quilt cover, which glowed with a pearly luster like moonlight in the warm light of the floor lamp.
"Wow!" Xia Tangyue's eyes lit up and she couldn't help but walk in. She sat on the edge of the bed and jumped twice. The soft mattress supported her weight and swayed slightly.
"Oh my god, you actually prepared a room for me!"
She looked at Wen Zheng in surprise and joy. He walked towards her step by step, following her line of sight. He stopped in front of her, his deep eyes shone with tiny lights, and he raised his hand to gently scratch the bridge of her nose.
"Brother, you can come here whenever you want. Everything is ready for you. I'll buy you anything you need."
Xia Tangyue got up from the bed and found that the wall above the dressing table was covered with pictures of her favorite characters.
The matte-textured badge exudes a cool luster, and a matching acrylic background board is placed in front of the limited edition stand. Even the outermost corners are stuffed with leather bookmarks printed with character lines, which are obviously carefully arranged according to the character themes.
"I looked at your previous Moments and sorted them out roughly according to your preferences. I don't know if they suit your tastes or not."
More than just pleasing to her heart, Xia Tangyue was so excited that she almost jumped up and turned around.
The closet next to her was ridiculously large, twice as big as the one in her house. She opened it and looked inside. It was filled with clothes, all colorful little dresses, and even pajamas were ready.
Xia Tangyue was completely speechless now. She turned around and saw Wen Zheng standing not far away, with an upright posture.
She trotted over and threw herself on him, wrapped her arms around his neck, and hung on him like she did when she was a child, jumping and saying, "Thank you, brother. I love it so much!"
Wen Zheng was startled for a moment, but soon recovered. He reached out and held her in his arms, patting her head. "How about we stay here tonight?"
"good!"
Xia Tangyue excitedly let go of Wen Zheng and went to fiddle with things in the room. She didn't notice that Wen Zheng quietly put his right hand on his chest, trying to calm his heart that was beating violently because of her hug, and the almost paranoid possessiveness that was surging in his eyes.
Xia Tangyue took a shower in the ensuite bathroom in her bedroom and picked out a white short-sleeved nightgown from the closet to change into.
I looked at the time and it was a little after nine in the evening.
I wonder what my brother is doing now?
She pushed the door open and saw Wen Zheng sitting at the bar with several bottles of wine in front of him, seemingly mixing a cocktail. In the glass, amber liquid was flowing down the edges of the ice cubes, and the orange peel formed fine oil beads at the mouth of the glass.
Wen Zheng looked at her. The fragrance of the little girl after bathing filled the whole room, and he lowered his eyes.
Xia Tangyue sat down next to him and stretched his neck: "Brother, what are you doing?"
Wen Zheng must have just finished taking a shower. He was wearing a gray casual suit, his hair was wet at the temples, and his body smelled clean of soap.
She leaned on the bar with one hand, and Wen Zheng pushed a glass of pink liquid in front of her.
"Would you like to try it? It's freshly made, so the alcohol content isn't high."
Xia Tangyue took the cup and took a sip. It was sweet, with a little taste of alcohol. Although it was called alcohol, it actually tasted more like fruit.
Wen Zheng took his cup to the giant-screen TV, dimmed the lights in the living room, and sat on the sofa to choose a movie.
Xia Tangyue followed him over and curled up on the sofa hugging a pillow. Wen Zheng asked her, "Do you want to watch a movie with your brother? Or is there anything you want to watch?"
She shook her head and picked up the snacks on the coffee table and started eating.
The movie was an American western cowboy film, with a cowboy whipping his horse and the bullets of the pursuers behind him grazing his hat brim, bang bang bang. The plot was quite passionate, but her eyelids were fighting, perhaps because of the alcohol she had just drunk, her head tilted and she fell on Wen Zheng's arm.
She felt him pull his hand out and put it around her.
Xia Tangyue opened her eyes drowsily and found Wen Zheng looking down at her, his palm gently holding her long hair with just the right amount of force, which was very comfortable.
In a trance, she felt as if she had returned to her childhood, on that hot summer day, when Wen Zheng held her in his arms and fanned her with a sunflower fan.
She leaned on Wen Zheng and muttered, "Brother, can you tell me the story you told me when I was a child again?"
Wen Zheng gently took his arm and pulled her closer to his chest, resting his chin lightly on the top of her head, and told the story: "Once upon a time, there was a princess who was betrothed by the king to the prince of a neighboring country. But she was ambushed on her way to get married, and her carriage fell into a foggy valley. At the critical moment, her knight split the rain of arrows, wrapped her in a blood-stained cloak, and galloped all the way to the hidden castle..."
Xia Tangyue murmured, "Brother, what if I get kidnapped by a bad guy like the princess in the story?"
Wen Zheng stroked the back of her head gently, his voice low and serious: "Then my brother will be like the knight in the story, bringing you back at all costs."
The little girl in his arms had fallen asleep without him noticing. She was sweet and soft, just like when she was a child. She still called him brother sweetly, rubbed against the warmth unconsciously, and occasionally wrinkled her nose like a kitten.
"Go to sleep, brother will always be by your side."
Wen Zheng lowered his head slightly, rubbed his cheek against her soft hair, and placed restrained and gentle kisses on her forehead, between her eyebrows, and tip of her nose.
Xia Tangyue slept until dawn, and when he woke up, he found himself lying on the bed.
After she finished washing up, she opened the door. Wen Zheng was sitting on the sofa, dressed neatly, making a phone call. When he saw her come out, he ended the conversation with the person across the street and called her over for breakfast.
"Should we take you home or to the art museum later?"
Xia Tangyue said, "Let's go back to the art museum. By the way, brother, I'm planning to organize an art exhibition about the loss and return of Dunhuang cultural relics. Do you know anyone who has resources for Tang Dynasty silk paintings? Can you introduce me to someone?"
"Well, I'll keep an eye out for you."
After breakfast, Wen Zheng sent Xia Tangyue back to the art museum.
"Brother, if you don't have anything important to do, can I take you around the art museum?"
"good."
When they arrived at the exhibition area, the collection keeper Ahua came towards them, first smiled at Xia Tangyue, then glanced at Wen Zheng, and then walked away.
Xia Tangyue said: "The opening date of the special exhibition of "Dream of the Butterfly" has been set. Is your brother free to come and participate?"
Wen Zheng chuckled: "Such an important day, how could I be absent?"
Xia Tangyue took out the invitation letter that he had prepared long ago and handed it to him.
After the two said goodbye, Xiaoyu hurriedly found her and said, "Director, the Dunhuang painting exhibition proposal we submitted has been returned."
Xia Tangyue frowned in confusion.
Why would it be rejected after passing the initial review?
She returned to the office and checked her mailbox.
The long and long articles are all nonsense, the highlight is the last sentence - reviewer: Gu Jiaping.
This kid is playing revenge here.
He's crazy. He's doing something just because she said they are not suitable.
She really couldn't understand what was so attractive about her to him. They were already adults, couldn't they just talk it out and part ways amicably? Why did they have to do this?
Xia Tangyue found the phone and called. The person who answered was Gu Jiaping's assistant, who said he was away on business and would call back later.
It was obviously an excuse, so she didn't bother to continue talking and just hung up.
