Miss you

Miss you

Xia Tangyue shook her head slightly and got into the car, but her hands unconsciously grasped the metal bracket of the back seat. The moment the engine roared, the car body trembled slightly, and she couldn't help but tense her back.

Wen Zheng seemed to notice her nervousness and drove very slowly.

A child suddenly ran out from the intersection, and Xia Tangyue was caught off guard by the sudden braking and bumped into his back. She hurriedly tried to distance herself, but was shaken by a bump and stuck to him again.

The car stopped. Xia Tangyue was about to adjust her sitting position when Wen Zheng looked back at her. He suddenly grabbed her hand and led it to the fuel tank in front of her. "Hold on here."

Only then did she realize that there were special grooves on both sides of the fuel tank, obviously for the back seat passengers.

She nodded to Wen Zheng through the helmet, and just as her fingers touched the edge of the groove, she realized that this posture almost put her whole body on his back. She had to wrap her arms around his thin waist, and could clearly feel the tight muscle lines under the black leather jacket.

This realization made Xia Tangyue's ears feel hot, and even steam seemed to be rising from his helmet.

The streets were in ruins after the typhoon.

Dark clouds gathered on the horizon, hiding the light within the clouds.

The entrance of an abandoned textile factory warehouse.

Xia Tangyue stepped out of the car, took off his helmet and handed it to Wen Zheng, then walked to the door and looked inside.

The abandoned warehouse still exudes a rotten and old smell as always. The dim light is not enough to illuminate the situation inside. At a glance, it is all pitch black.

"This is it..." She turned around and found that Wen Zheng was not following her, but was walking around the outskirts of the textile factory with a serious look in his eyes.

She followed him: "What's wrong?"

"Aren't you looking for the old site of the art museum?" Wen Zheng pointed his hand in the air and said, "I'm trying to confirm if this is the direction."

He walked to where she had just stood and pushed open the old iron door: "Go in and take a look."

Because she had been here once before, Xia Tangyue was already familiar with the place. Thinking of the places she hadn't been to last time, she decided to go take a look first.

Wen Zheng's steady footsteps sounded behind him. His tall figure seemed to dispel the gloomy atmosphere in the abandoned warehouse, making the originally terrifying dark space less creepy.

Xia Tangyue explored forward carefully with the faint light coming through the broken window.

Wen Zheng always kept half a step away from her. His presence was like a solid barrier, isolating the decayed smell and unknown fear in the warehouse.

"Watch your step." He suddenly reached out and held her shoulders, the warmth between his fingers coming through the fabric, "There's water here."

Xia Tangyue looked down and found that there was a layer of turbid water on the ground, reflecting their blurry figures.

Wen Zheng politely withdrew his hand after she stood firm, but the feeling of security remained.

"Thank you." Xia Tangyue said softly and continued to walk forward. Behind her, Wen Zheng's footsteps were still following slowly. She covered her nose and lifted the waste on the ground, and dust flew in the air.

She looked everywhere, but couldn't find any trace of the painting. She strongly suspected that she had looked in the wrong place.

Wen Zheng squatted in the corner, reaching out to grab something.

Xia Tangyue stood behind him and took a look. He found that he was wiping the ground with his thumb and asked in confusion: "What are you doing?"

Wen Zheng's frown relaxed, he stood up and clapped his hands, glanced around, and asked, "Hmm? Did you find anything?"

Xia Tangyue shook his head dejectedly, "Maybe the address is wrong. This place doesn't look like a studio or an art gallery no matter how you look at it."

The stale and moldy smell in the room made her cough uncontrollably. She covered her mouth and mumbled, "Let's, ahem... go."

When she got to the door, she took a deep breath of fresh air and walked deeper into the corridor. When she turned a corner, she was unexpectedly pulled into the room. Wen Zheng gently covered her mouth with his hand and whispered in her ear, "Shh, don't make any sound."

Xia Tangyue's eyes widened, his face full of confusion. Just as he made a slight humming sound, Wen Zheng suppressed it and lowered his voice: "Someone is following us."

track!

Xia Tangyue's pupils suddenly contracted, and a layer of cold sweat instantly broke out on her back. Wen Zheng's palm was warm and dry, tightly blocking the exclamation that was about to come out of her mouth.

She could clearly feel his chest pressed against her back, his heartbeat steady and strong, in stark contrast to her frantic heartbeat. His breath sprayed on her ears, and his voice was very low: "It's clear that no one has entered the room just now for a long time, but the dust on the ground has traces of being stepped on, which means that before you came, someone had already followed your footprints yesterday to explore."

"I suspect that they have been following us since we entered the warehouse, secretly watching our every move."

Not long.

Sure enough, there were subtle noises coming from outside the corridor, like deliberately light footsteps, occasionally mixed with the sound of metal colliding.

Xia Tangyue's whole body was stiff. Wen Zheng seemed to sense her fear. The hand that was originally covering her mouth slid down to her shoulder and squeezed it soothingly.

"Don't be afraid." His lips were almost touching her ear, and every word was filled with warmth: "Just wait for me here."

As soon as he finished speaking, Wen Zheng's figure flashed away.

Xia Tangyue only felt a flash before his eyes, and his black leather jacket had already merged into the shadows of the corridor. A muffled sound came from the distance, followed by the sound of a heavy object falling to the ground. The whole process was so fast that it was almost impossible to react.

Xia Tangyue waited for more than ten seconds and came out only after he heard no loud noise outside.

At the end of the corridor, Wen Zheng pushed a man in black to the ground, grabbed his hands behind his back, and lifted him up by his neck.

He sneered, "You look familiar."

Xia Tangyue trotted over to Wen Zheng, the man in black had a droopy face and puffed his cheeks in dissatisfaction. Wen Zheng grabbed his collar and forced him to look up.

Isn’t this the person who moved into the B&B with her that day?

So, the dark shadow she saw here that day was not an illusion, but this person was following her.

"Why are you following me? What's your purpose?" Xia Tangyue asked.

The man in black turned his head away and said nothing.

Wen Zheng's grip increased a little, his knuckles turned white from the force, and deep wrinkles appeared on the man's collar. The man in black's face flushed red, but he still clenched his teeth and glanced to the side with a sinister look.

Xia Tangyue was silent for a moment, then suddenly reached into the pocket of the man in black, took out his cell phone, and then continued with Wen Zheng's force, forcing him to unlock it with his fingerprint.

The screen lit up, and a page displayed a sent message.

"The target has started to move again, and this time it seems that he has found external assistance."

"Heh..." Xia Tangyue looked coldly at the man in black and said, "Mulin Art Museum sent you here, right?"

The man in black opened his mouth in shock. Although he remained silent, his reaction said it all.

"What do you want to do? You want to deliberately cause trouble so that I can't hold the exhibition as scheduled, right?"

Xia Tangyue's voice caused a cold echo in the empty warehouse. The muscles on the face of the man in black twitched, and his eyes flickered, revealing a bit of panic.

She took photos of the evidence with her cell phone and took several more photos of the man in black's face.

The man in black finally couldn't hold it anymore. Perhaps he was worried that he would be held responsible, so he shouted, "Don't take pictures of me. I was ordered to do this. It has nothing to do with me!"

Xia Tangyue folded his arms and stared at him.

The man in black continued, "You are right. It was indeed the Mulin Art Museum that sent me here. I don't know their specific motives. They only asked me to follow you and find the painting "Butterfly Reflection" before you do. That's it. I didn't mean to hurt you."

Xia Tangyue was so angry that he laughed. These people really did everything they could.

In the past two years, she and Mulin Art Museum competed for investment from Furen Group.

The end result was that Furen Group was more optimistic about the development of Zhijian and started investment cooperation with them. Because of this, Mulin Art Museum has been trying hard to compete with Zhijian in recent years, but it was unexpected that such despicable means would be used this time.

Xia Tangyue clenched his fists, his nails digging deeply into his palms, took a deep breath to calm himself, and silently turned off the recording.

The man in black saw Xia Tangyue lowering his head to fiddle with his phone, so he took the opportunity to roll over and break free, then staggered towards the back door of the warehouse. Wen Zheng was about to chase him, but Xia Tangyue raised his hand to stop him.

"No need to chase him, just let him go." She stared at the recording file she had just saved on her phone, then quickly dialed a number: "Hello, Brother Kuan, are you busy recently? I have some exclusive information about the Mulin Art Museum..."

There was an excited response from the other end of the phone.

After hanging up the phone, Xia Tangyue found that Wen Zheng was looking at her with a smile.

His eyes were warm and passionate, and her cheeks were flushed. She turned her head and asked, "What's wrong?"

He smiled and said, “Let me see what the artist looks like.”

Xia Tangyue inexplicably felt as if her identity had been exposed. She turned her back to avoid his gaze and put the previous episode behind her.

"Thank you very much today. I will look for some clues. If you have something else to do, you don't have to accompany me."

"I'm not busy." Wen Zheng raised the corner of his lips slightly and waved to Xia Tangyue, motioning her to follow.

The two came to the room in the northwest corner of the first floor.

Xia Tangyue stood at the door in confusion. Wen Zheng found a crowbar from somewhere and held it in his hand. He stood in the middle of the room, looking down at the floor: "If I'm not mistaken, what you're looking for is right under here."

"Ah?" Xia Tangyue blinked in disbelief.

Wen Zheng knelt on one knee, the tip of the crowbar accurately stuck into the gap in the floor, and his arm muscles stretched into sharp lines as he exerted force.

With a "crackling" sound, the rotten wooden floor was lifted up, and the dust flew in the slanting sunlight. Xia Tangyue covered his mouth and moved closer, only to see that there was a dark underground space under the floor.
