Chapter 152 Generous Girlfriend VS Poor Boyfriend 8

Chapter 152 Generous Girlfriend VS Poor Boyfriend 8

On Saturday, Gu Xingyuan went to see Wang Hongling. He originally intended to bring Jiang Zhiyi along, but she simply couldn't get up.

But he only had a little free time on Saturday mornings, and he had to work to earn money the rest of the weekend, so he had no choice but to go there alone.

Wang Hongling now lives in an older neighborhood, but the environment is very nice and suitable for her recuperation, which she is very satisfied with. There's also a hospital nearby, making it convenient to seek medical attention in case of any emergencies.

"Mom." Gu Xingyuan simply took out his key and opened the door.

The lights in the living room were off, so the person must have gone out.

Gu Xingyuan put all the fruit he brought into the refrigerator. He noticed that there were several bowls of leftover food inside, all wrapped tightly in plastic wrap.

He tore off the plastic wrap and smelled the food. It smelled really strange, so he threw all the leftovers into the trash can.

Gu Xingyuan took off his coat, rolled up his sleeves, and started sweeping and mopping the floor. He then went to the kitchen to wash the dishes.

After he finished all the housework he could, he still didn't see Wang Hongling return. He called Wang Hongling, but no one answered.

Gu Xingyuan was getting a little anxious.

...

In a park not far from the residential area, Wang Hongling and Gu Conghui were standing face to face.

"What are you doing here?" Wang Hongling asked.

Gu Conghui: "My son has grown up now. I've missed you all so much over the years. I want to bring you all back so that our family can be together again in the future."

“We have absolutely nothing to do with you.” Wang Hongling found his words extremely sarcastic.

Although they had indeed been deliberately avoiding Gu Conghui before, with his abilities, finding someone would be extremely easy for him, so he must have known about their situation long ago.

Gu Conghui watched coldly as they struggled to make ends meet, worrying about tuition, living expenses, and medical bills. He didn't even show up when she urgently needed surgery.

She knew what he was thinking; he was that kind of domineering and cold-blooded person. He had never truly recognized his mistakes. He wanted to force them to come to him, to force them to compromise, to force them to bow down to him.

Now that he's getting older, he's starting to get anxious, which is why he's putting on this repentant act to try and win them back.

They endured such difficult times before without seeking even the slightest help from him. How could they possibly forgive him now because of this small gesture of goodwill? Never in this lifetime.

“No matter what, he is still my son, and he has half of my blood in his veins. In the past…” Gu Conghui sighed, “It was all my fault in the past. I hope you can give me a chance to make up for my mistakes.”

Gu Xinghui looked around and said, "The house you're living in now is too dilapidated. How about I find you a villa and hire a few housekeepers for you?"

Wang Hongling didn't even bother to look at him; she didn't want to waste her time. "No need, I'm going back."

"I'll come see you another day." Gu Conghui didn't press the issue; he needed to be more polite now.

He knew that only if Wang Hongling forgave him would Gu Xingyuan possibly accept him as his father.

...

Wang Hongling went home.

Her phone had just vibrated in her pocket, and she knew it was Gu Xingyuan calling her. He had called last night to say he was coming over today.

"Mom, where did you go? Why aren't you answering your phone?" Gu Xingyuan asked.

"I didn't check my phone. I went for a walk in the park to get some exercise."

Gu Xingyuan nodded and said, "Mom, I threw away all the vegetables in the refrigerator for you. You can't eat them. You have to be careful about this. It would be a real problem if you got food poisoning."

Wang Hongling didn't argue with him and agreed, "Okay, Mom will remember it."

The two stayed until lunchtime, and Gu Xingyuan helped her install a new light bulb on the balcony. Before leaving, he offered Wang Hongling some money, but she refused to accept it.

“Your expenses are high right now. Mom has enough money here. I don’t need it. You can take it back.”

"You take it." Gu Xingyuan refused.

Knowing his stubborn nature, Wang Hongling added, "To be honest, I haven't bought Zhizhi any gifts yet, even though she's visited me so many times. Keep this money for the two of you; consider it a token of my appreciation."

"Alright, don't let this delay things this afternoon. I'm going to take a nap. Could you take the trash downstairs and throw it away for me later?" Wang Hongling yawned as she walked towards the bedroom.

"Okay, I'll come back next week."

...

Gu Xingyuan took the subway to his weekend part-time job, a small studio owned by his college classmate, Li Zifeng.

Li Zifeng and he weren't in the same college, but they had teamed up together for a mathematical modeling competition. They used to train for days on end to prepare for the competition, hoping that winning an award would give them extra points when applying for graduate school.

Both were outstanding and ultimately received offers for postgraduate studies. However, they did not choose to pursue further education and instead went directly into the workforce after graduation.

They had always had a good relationship, so he was willing to help Li Zifeng with his work as a way of supporting his friend's career, and Li Zifeng paid him very generously.

Gu Xingyuan worked there for the entire afternoon, and in the evening, Li Zifeng called him to go out for dinner.

"Brother Yuan, thank you for your hard work. This problem has been stuck with us for three days, and we still need your help. Let's go, that's enough for today. Let's go eat together, this meal is on me," Li Zifeng said.

There were several other people waiting nearby, and Gu Xingyuan couldn't refuse, so he agreed.

Inside the private room.

As the group ate, Gu Xingyuan, who never drank alcohol, only had a soft drink to drink.

They talked a lot, about everything.

Gu Xingyuan listened silently the whole time, only occasionally saying a few words. Later, he felt a little bored, so he took out his phone and started scrolling.

"Brother Yuan, you want to buy this bag?" Someone glanced at the picture on Gu Xingyuan's phone. "This bag must cost close to 100,000... I have a friend who specializes in this kind of business. I'll send you his contact information on WeChat."

Gu Xingyuan didn't really understand these things either, so he added them as friends so he could ask them questions later.

The person was very enthusiastic and kept promoting the product to Gu Xingyuan after they became friends.

A few days later, Gu Xingyuan brought a bag home with him.

He bought it from the person he added that day. That person also said that if he bought it later, the bag would be out of style, and that they could give him installment payments, with a down payment of 30,000 yuan.

Jiang Zhiyi looked at the new bag from left to right, but soon she realized that something seemed off.

"Gu Xingyuan, you bought me a fake bag?"
