Chapter 190 The Divorced Wife Turns on Herself vs. The Arrogant and Wealthy Husband (19)

The night was dark, and the streetlights on both sides of the road were lit up. A black car was parked there quietly.

As soon as Jiang Zhiyi stepped forward, the driver came out and opened the car door for her, then waited outside the car.

“Your leg isn’t healed yet, and you’re already running around in a wheelchair. Do you really want to become a cripple?” She started yelling at him right away. “Say what you want to say quickly, I’m going back soon.”

Chu Lincheng hugged her, saying, "I missed you."

She didn't speak for a moment, then turned her head to look at him, her gaze falling on him.

The car suddenly became quiet.

"What are you looking at?" he asked.

“I want to strangle you,” she said.

Chu Lincheng smiled, then lowered his head to kiss her.

"Mmm..." She was held tightly by him, and she fell against him.

She tried to hit his back, but he grabbed her hand and they intertwined their fingers.

He controlled every breath she took.

In this enclosed space, sounds and emotions seem to be amplified infinitely.

She could almost hear his heartbeat.

He is too.

After a long while, Chu Lincheng finally let go of her. He touched his lips and said, "Still biting me."

"You scoundrel!" Jiang Zhiyi was now angry. He was the one who had been biting her, so she bit him back hard.

Chu Lincheng pulled her into his arms and asked her softly, "Shall we make up?"

“No,” she refused.

He said again, "I beg you, please make up with me, okay?"

"No, that won't work either." She refused again.

Chu Lincheng thought for a moment and said, "Then what do you want me to do now to make you agree to reconcile? Just tell me, and I'll do it."

"We can't get back together, we've already broken up."

“Why not? Have you fallen for someone else? We’re both single now, and we like each other…” Chu Lincheng explained to her word by word, “We’re a perfect match.”

“We didn’t like each other,” she retorted.

"Yes, it's unrequited love on my part... So, can you give me, the one who's in love with you, a chance?"

"Don't pester me. It's no use clinging to me like this." Jiang Zhiyi said domineeringly.

"So, didn't you guess I'd end up like this?" Chu Lincheng asked her in return.

"You knew I would do this, you knew I would cling to you. You were deliberately stringing me along; you're a wicked woman who plays with my feelings."

“I’m not,” she denied.

"So that's you." He chuckled softly.

It was impossible for her not to like him; if he couldn't be sure before, he was now absolutely certain.

"You still say you don't like me? Would you act like this with other people?" Chu Lincheng said in a low voice.

She has a fiery temper, but she knows her limits. Even when she gets angry, she always has her own reasons.

But in his presence, she was unpredictable, or rather, she truly did whatever she pleased.

One reason is dependence, and the other is testing.

“I know that sometimes you just tease me on purpose. You don’t need to keep asking me to confirm things. If I really wanted to leave, I would tell you directly. I can also tell you very seriously now that I will not leave you. I love you very much.”

Jiang Zhiyi was unconsciously fiddling with the buttons on his clothes, seemingly lost in thought.

"Where are you dissatisfied? I'll change it, okay?" he coaxed her softly.

“You’re impatient with me…” she said.

"When did this happen?" Chu Lincheng had no recollection of it at all.

When is he not speaking softly and gently to her?

Even when sending chat messages, he has to include some emojis, otherwise she'll say he's cold.

Jiang Zhiyi carefully recalled the past. After thinking for a long time, she said, "...Once when we went home to pay respects to our ancestors during the Qingming Festival...we had just finished arguing. I gave you a way out and took your hand, but you wouldn't let me."

Chu Lincheng recalled for a moment, and it seemed that there was indeed such a thing, that he had pinched her cheek.

“I almost forgot if you hadn’t mentioned it. Think back to the time we had a fight, what did you break? You broke the family heirloom bracelet.”

“You know how much Grandma treasures this thing. You broke it on the very first day we gave it to you. She’s a stubborn old lady… I didn’t let you hold it because Grandma hit my hand and it hurt terribly. I didn’t want you to know. I’m in my twenties or thirties, and I still get hit for this.”

Jiang Zhiyi looked at him, no wonder the matter was left unresolved. She said, "I... then why didn't you tell me?"

"If I tell you later, you'll be upset again." He reached out and touched her hair.

“Grandma doesn’t dislike you. If she really didn’t want to accept you, she wouldn’t have given you the bracelet. Ever since my parents passed away, her temper has become increasingly eccentric, and we, as the younger generation, can only give in to her more.”

"Oh," Jiang Zhiyi replied, "...You always reply to my messages so coldly."

"I've changed it now, haven't I? Flowers, kisses, smiley faces... I'm using all of those now."

Jiang Zhiyi brought up several more things, but he refuted them one by one.

"You never give in to me; all you do is bully me," she said angrily.

"You're the one who's bullying me... I work during the day to earn money, and then I'm all alone at night, while you're out partying at clubs behind my back. Who's bullying whom here?"

"Don't talk nonsense," Jiang Zhiyi said angrily.

When did she ever do something like that?

She always stays home obediently at night.

"That's not much different from what I said."

"I'm going back!" Jiang Zhiyi got angry. She didn't want to argue with him anymore. They were just repeating the same things over and over, and neither of them would back down.

"Let's wait a bit before leaving, it's still early." Chu Lincheng was still holding her. "Should we go play?"

"Where should we go?" she asked.

“Go wherever you want. It’s rare that my brother has been willing to help me with chores these days. He’s usually the one squeezing out my time. We can go out and have some fun. Didn’t you even make a travel guide? There are so many places in it that we haven’t been to yet.”

He remembered that she used to complain that he was too busy with work and often had to travel for work.

Chu Lincheng grabbed her hand, which was still playing with the buttons on his clothes, kissed it a few times, and then, remembering something, asked, "Did you lose my ring?"

Jiang Zhiyi did not answer.

She didn't pay attention to it at the time, but later the housekeeper who cleaned the room helped her put it in the jewelry box, and both rings are still there now.

"Go back now and get some rest." Chu Lincheng then let go of her, not intending to ask any more questions.

Jiang Zhiyi didn't say anything and quickly got out of the car and left.

She received his message as soon as she entered the house.

I'll pick you up tomorrow.
