Chapter 10 Mysterious Death

Chapter 10 Mysterious Death

We each brought our own self-defense weapons and opened the door to the grocery room. There were still unconscious people wandering around the hall. From time to time, someone would walk up the stairs and pass by us. We were so scared that we didn't even dare to breathe loudly.

In this way, we moved carefully all the way to the fourth floor.

Unlike yesterday, all the doors on the fourth floor were closed. I guessed that maybe because of yesterday's incident, no one dared to open the door, but I quickly overturned this guess.

Just as Mo Junfan analyzed, if the door was locked from the inside, then the affected staff would open the door unconsciously. Either they were not affected for some reason, or something unexpected happened inside.

Whatever the case, this door must be opened.

I shared my thoughts with the other three people. Jiang Wang and Mo Junfan were a little hesitant, worried that there would be greater danger after opening the door.

An Xiaowei hesitated for a moment, then finally nodded and said, "Ji Ling is right. If there really is a bigger problem here, and we don't get to the bottom of it now, it will get even more troublesome sooner or later."

Mo Junfan seemed a little unhappy and expressed his opinion briefly: "It's very dangerous." He snorted coldly and left us alone to walk forward.

Jiang Wang looked at Mo Junfan's back, then looked at An Xiaowei and me, and seemed to want to say something but stopped himself. In the end, he chased in the direction of Mo Junfan.

I sighed, turned my head and stared at the door, prepared myself mentally and took deep breaths countless times. After a long time, I plucked up the courage to put my hand on the doorknob. Just as I was about to turn the doorknob to open the door, a hand came up and covered my hand.

"Let me do it, you guys step back." It was Jiang Wang's voice.

I turned around and found that Mo Junfan had come back at some point. He was standing next to An Xiaowei, looking at me with his arms folded. When he saw me looking at him, he blinked uncomfortably, then turned his head to look away.

The corners of my mouth curled up unconsciously, and then I opened the door with Jiang Wang.

The door was not locked, and the expected dangers and monsters did not appear. The room was deathly silent, and the air was filled with an indescribable fishy smell - the smell of blood.

Inside the room, staff members still wearing isolation protective suits were lying all over the place, blood splattered everywhere, their bodies covered with red filaments, painful expressions frozen on their faces, as if they had suffered great torture in their lives, with fear and unwillingness in their eyes that had not yet disappeared.

Jiang Wang and I simultaneously gasped and exchanged a look of disbelief. Mo Junfan and An Xiaowei stepped forward, their eyes widening in disbelief at the scene unfolding inside.

Mo Junfan walked over quickly and checked one of the bodies, frowning.

"What is this thing!"

We heard the sound and went over, only to find that those extremely thin red filaments were not attached to the surface of their bodies, but pierced through the skin and grew inwards.

And these things were still wriggling slightly, as if trying to drill deeper.

"Don't touch it!" I warned in a low voice.

The other people all had serious expressions. Jiang Wang said, "I'm afraid there really is a source of infection sneaking in."

"Could it be those people from yesterday?" An Xiaowei guessed.

Mo Junfan seemed to be thinking about something and shook his head: "Not sure. The death is not the same as the person yesterday. These people don't have any obvious external injuries."

After Mo Junfan finished speaking, everyone fell silent again, unsure of what to do for a moment.

After a few seconds, Jiang Wang looked up and said, "We can't stay in the Information Building anymore. We should find a way to escape."

An Xiaowei frowned: "How can we escape? The entire information building is blocked now. We can't escape at all!"

"That's better than waiting here to die!" Jiang Wang was a little excited. Mo Junfan quickly covered his mouth and whispered, "Keep it down."

Jiang Wang closed his eyes and suppressed his emotions.

"If those people wake up tomorrow and find that they are all dead, what will we say? Lao Mo and I were slandered as murderers today! And her too!" Jiang Wang pointed at me and said to An Xiaowei.

An Xiaowei was silent for a while, lowered her head and sighed deeply, as if she wanted to let out all the depression in her heart.

I glanced at the ground inadvertently and instantly got goosebumps.

I don't know when those thin red threads had spread to my feet. The same red threads also gathered at the feet of other people, but they were completely unaware of it.

"Be careful! There's something wrong with these red threads!" I quickly took a step back and reminded them at the same time.

When a few people noticed something at their feet, they were all shocked and stepped back.

"Close the door! Get out first!"

We quickly left the room and closed the door.

"Then what should we do next?" An Xiaowei looked up and asked.

"Find an exit. If there is no exit, force one open." Jiang Wang glanced out the window. It was still pitch black, and the sound of rain could be heard faintly.

An Xiaowei nodded, and the four of us glanced down the corridor before heading to the surveillance room we'd found yesterday. If we could see the surveillance footage, perhaps we could figure out what exactly killed those people yesterday, and we'd have a better idea of what was going on.

Nothing is scarier than the unknown.

However, when we arrived at the monitoring room, we found that the door was still locked.

We explored the information building again, but found nothing else except some supplies in the warehouse.

"It's strange. There's not even a key to the staff office?" Jiang Wang muttered in confusion.

Soon, the sky began to brighten again, and outside, peace returned to normal.

Because of what happened yesterday, if the four of us couldn't find anyone today, it would probably arouse suspicion again, so before dawn, we returned to our original residence.

As the sky gradually brightened, people woke up one after another, just as expected.

"What's wrong with this door?"

"Is there anything that breaks in?"

“How terrifying…”

And a terrified voice came from next door: "I can't stand it anymore! I want to leave here!"

As if their emotions were ignited, people became restless and complained, and many people began to pack up and prepare to leave.

"I want to leave here too! I don't want to stay here anymore!"

"But the door is locked, how are we going to get out?"

"Then break the door!"

"Yes! We can escape by breaking down the door."

There were also different voices in the crowd: "But where can we go after we get out?"

"Yeah, it's just as dangerous outside, it's better to stay here."

"Where are the staff? Why can't we see any staff? Did something unexpected happen again?"

"I don't care! I want to go home!"
